  1. Yes this is a love story, no it's not right off the bat lovey dovey.. I am putting action into it, don't worry.. Also, there will be things you don't expect to happen.. ;) But first, I have a certain way I make my characters, you'll see..
I call these character sheets, as if you were signing up for an RP..

    Chapter 1

    Riley's POV

It all started with a note, or a love letter, from him..
I was so going to be late, and I didn't have a legit excuse. I sped up my pace towards Ridgeway High School, now basically sprinting, my books slipping from my tight grip. As I neared the school, I reluctantly slowed my sprint down to a jog, following in all the half asleep teenagers huddling through the double doors.

I was instantly shoved against lockers, as usual, struggling to get to my locker, which was on the other end of the school. Lucky me.. I shoved my way across the hall, finally reaching my locker, grabbing the handle and throwing it open only to have a folded up price of paper fall to the ground, landing gracefully at my feet. Reaching down to retrieve it, I peeled off the heart shaped sticker and read silently.
    Dear Riley,
I hope you've been having a good day.. It should merely get better, as everyone else's should too.. No one deserves a bad day.. You are amazing, what do you do to get your hair like that? It's gorgeous, by the way.. Love,
    J

"Whaa?" I said as the bell rang, signaling the students still in the hall to scramble feverishly to their classrooms.

The note was sweet, but who was it from? I shoved it into my notebook and shuffled back down the hall towards my classroom, only to be knocked into the ground by a figure standing much taller than I, them at at least 6"0 and me at a tiny 5"4. I looked up to see Jake Moon, the heartthrob of Ridgeway. "Are you okay?" He asked, offering a hand to help me up.

I hesitantly took his hand and got up, shaking the fall off. "Umm, thanks.." I said quietly, putting my head down and walking away quickly.

I know it is short, but if anyone likes it, I will gradually make the chapters longer.. I'm trying..
:) So what do you think so far?

  2. It's fine and easy to read. Though I'm not a fan of stero type personalities. Keep up with it and can't wait to see what you will do with it.

  3. Riley seems really sweet but I'd love to see her get a bad boy in her life. I mean what isn't awesome about about seeing a good girl turn bad? But yeah just my own input. Keep writing this ;)

  4. Awesome!! Thanks for the advice and nice comments! I'll update it in a little while.. :)

  5. Update!! :) Sorry it took so long! :/ Also,
    I have decoded

    Chapter 2

  6. I think your story's not bad so far. My advice would be to not do the character sheets, though. Personally, I feel like it's almost a way of cheating, to describe the characters without using direct and indirect characterization, and not letting their personalities and looks be discovered throughout the story. I dunno. That's my preference. Bump!

  7. And also, I would suggest not doing the cliche, stereotypical high school romance/drama story where the nerd and the player fall in love and she makes him good again and there's a love triangle and all that. It seems like it's heading that way now, so maybe you can add a plot twist or something to make it more interesting.

  8. Wait i didnt see anything

  9. Ah! I didn't mean to post that yet! XD Here's the whole thing!

Update!! :) Sorry it took so long! :/ Also, I have decided that instead of doing what I did for Riley, I'm just going to tell the character's name, age, grade, stereotype, and appearance.

    Chapter 2

    Jake's POV

After last period, the crowd of students separated as Lindsay made her way down the hallway, hips swaying and everything else, towards me, a smile playing against her lips. A quite bony finger poked me playfully in the chest, then again on my nose. "Hi Jakey. I missed you so much." She got on her tip toes to press her lips against mine. "Babe, did you get taller, or did I just get that much smaller?" She asked, looking up at me.

I shrugged and took her hand in my free one, turning and heading down the hall to the parking lot at the front of the school. First day back to school and I'm already tired of her.. I think it's time to stop dating the cheerleader. She hopped into my black Ford Mustang GT

  10. Ahh!! I didn't mean to post that! Forget that is there please! 

    Chapter 2

    Riley's POV

The halls were dead silent, well excluding my shoes hitting the floor. I opened the door to my classroom and sat down in my chair in the middle area of the class. Mr. Hightower looked at me through his glasses, eyebrows raised. "How nice of you to join us, miss Stewart, would you care to tell the class why you're late?"

"Well.." I began, but my breath got caught in my throat, and I struggled to finish. "Well.. I had to take my little brother to school.. Is that okay?" I lied, looking at him, urging him to believe me.

He grunted and turned around, ignoring my tardiness. I smiled and got my book out, turning to the page he was on when a note got tossed onto my desk from the boy next to me. I opened it and read silently.
    Dear Riley,
I'm having a party tonight and I'd like for you to come.. Soo, will you? Check yes or no.

    Yes ◻ No ◻

    From,
    Jake

I giggled at it and checked yes, handing it back to the boy beside me, who gave it to Jake. He opened it eagerly, read my response, and fist pumped the air, grinning, then looked at me. I blushed and smiled, looking back down at my work. The butterflies were at it again, putting feelings in my stomach.

The rest of the day passed pretty quickly until last hour. I had athletics last hour, so I shoved my stuff to my locker and turned to find Hannah, my best friend. She showed up next to me, locking arms with me and heading for the girls' locker room. "Um, I got a note in my locker today from a person with the initial J. Then I got one from Jake, asking me to come to his party tonight, you gonna come with?" I asked quietly, holding the door open for her.

"Of course I'm coming! And where's the note? Hand it over, you know you can't tell me about a note from a 'secret admirer' and not let me read it!" She held her hand out expectantly, and I pulled the note out of my pocket as handed to her.

She read the note as we followed a few girls into the locker room and we began changing. Hannah and I got dressed rather quickly and went out to the track and saw Coach Lorenz leaning against the fence, arms crossed and whistle in his mouth. He saw us and let the whistle fall and hit his chest. "Two laps girls!" He smiled and we turned, jogging our laps.

"Aren't you curious of who "J" is Riley?" Hannah asked as we finished out first lap, not looking at me.

I sighed, picking up the pace a little bit as we rounded the first turn of the second lap. "Kind of, but if he doesn't want me to know who it is, then I won't snoop around trying to find out. Besides, there's only three guys whose first initial is J that I can think of. Jake, Jared, and James."

"So it's one of them, duh. The note was hand written, and I sit next to James in third period, and you're beside Jared in our fifth hour, so I could look at James's handwriting to see if it's his, and you could look at Jared's! Then we'll know who it is!" She said, sounding confident.

I laughed and slowed down, coming to a stop as we finished our second lap. "That is true, but what a put Jake? Neither of us have a class with him.."

"Easy, if Jared and James don't match it, then it's obviously Jake.." She said, sounding a bit uncertain now.

"Girls, do the other warmups!" Coach Lorenz shouted, blowing his whistle.

We started two lines, all the other girls behind us, and began, no longer talking.

I shrugged and took her hand in my free one, turning and heading down the hall to the parking lot in front of the school. She hopped into my black Ford Mustang GT as I got in and started the engine, pulling out of the parking space and onto the paved street. "You know, " she said, leaning over and kissing my neck softly, "my parents are out if town for the next few days and I'm all alone.. It gets kind of lonely.."

"Sorry, I can't come over.. I've gotta go see my ki- Aunt! I've gotta see my aunt.. She has done stuff she needs me to do.." I replied, not taking my eyes off the road as I pulled in front of her house.

"Oh fine.." She huffed and kissed me on the cheek, climbing out of the passenger door.

I waited until she had closed the front door before pulling my cell phone out and calling my aunt. "Hey Aunt Cindy, is Maggie ready?"

"She sure is.. She's waiting on you."

"Thanks, I'll be there in a few minutes. Bye." I hung up and peeled down the street, excited to see Maggie.

  16. Chapter 3

    Jake's POV

I pulled up to my aunt, Cindy's, house as rang the doorbell, tapping my foot impatiently. The door opened and I was face to face with Tony, my aunts boyfriend. "Hey Tony, I'm here to get Maggie.. Is she ready to go? The fair starts in ten minutes."

"Yeah, come on in Jake, I'll get her." He said, walking away as I came in and sat in the sofa.

"Daddy!!" I heard Maggie's voice before I saw her.

"Hey Maggie! You ready to go to the fair?" I asked as she jumped into my arms for a hug.

"Yeah! Yeah! Fair, lets go to the fair!!" She screamed, thrashing around happily.

Aunt Cindy came around the corner, a smile plastered on her face. "Hi Jake, how've you been?"

"Good Aunt Cindy, how about you?"

"Great, I'm in shape thanks to the little monster." She smiled wearily, gesturing to my two year old daughter.

"We'll good, I guess we'd better get going. It was good seeing you!" I called as I walked out the door, Maggie waving excitedly.

I pulled her carseat out of my trunk and put it in the back seat, buckling her into it before pulling out of the driveway and down the road. The fair was at the mall parking lot, so it was about a five minute drive. "Are you excited?" I asked Maggie, who was sitting quietly, staring out the window.

"Yes Daddy, I'm excited to ride the ponies." She said in her cute two year old voice.

"Ponies, huh? You wanna ride the ponies?"

"Uh huh." She nodded her head at me, grinning.

"Okay then, ponies it is." I smiled and parked the car a little ways away from the fair, so we walked to the ropes and climbed through them, looking around.

She tugged at my hand, and I looked down to see her pointing with her free hand to a ride. "That one, that one!"

I chuckled and walked her over to it. "These aren't the ponies!" I said to her, which made her pout out her lips and cross her arms.

"I don't wanna ride the ponies!" She cried, pointing at the ride again. "That one!"

"Okay then.." I smiled and payed for the ride, taking her hand and sitting down in the seats.

    Riley's POV

"Riley pleaseeee!" Hannah begged me. "Just one!"

I sighed and held out a five dollar bill. "Fine. Just one!"

She grinned and took the money from my hand, running over to the hot dog stand and getting a hot dog, then running back over to me. "Yay! Thank you!" She said through a mouthful of chewed up hot dog and read.

"Okay.. Woah, it's not see-food!" I laughed covering my eyes.

She laughed and put a hand up to her mouth, hiding her ABC(already been chewed) food. I uncovered my eyes and looked at her. "I swear.. You're crazy Hannah." She simply scoffed and turned, walking towards another stand, me following behind.

"Hey, you!" I turned to see Jared Trinks, one of the very few 'normal' boys at school.

"Hey Jared!" I said with Hannah, who had swallowed her food.

"How's it going?" He asked, smiling his braces filled smile.

"Not much, just walking around. Hannah's already stuffing her face and we just got here!" I laughed, nodding my head towards Hannah.

Hannah scoffed again and shoved another bite into her mouth, watching me the whole time. "Hannah, really? Gross." I stated, covering my mouth again.

Jared smiled and looked at me. "Are you going to Jake's party tonight?"

I nodded. "Yeah, he asked me if I would go during first period today."

He smiled at me. "Okay, we'll I've gotta run, I'll see you there?"

    "Sure."

    "Okay, see ya."

"Bye." Hannah and I said at the same time again.

"He into you.." Hannah said as soon as Jared was out if an earshot. "You can totally tell."

I shoved her playfully, walking through the crowd. "No he doesn't, stop it."

"Okayyy.. Well, I'm outta here. If you're gonna come to my house and get ready for the party, I'm leaving now.."

I looked around her to see Jake, holding the hand of a young girl, around two or three. "Hannah, who's that? That little girl with Jake."

She looked at the girl, then bank at me. "Beats me.."

    "No.. They look.. Alike."

"Maybe it's his little sister. We'll find out later. Come on lets go get ready." She said, pulling me away from the fair.
