The 'pervs' topic. No, this is not for 'pervs' to post their things or whatever. This is more of an informational thread about 'pervs' and the community of 'real' players of pimd. I'll cover many things, mostly starting with observations that I have seen. First of all, what is a 'perv'? Perv is a diminution of the word 'pervert'. Now, what is the definition of that word? pervert Per•vert Verb Alter (something) from its original course, meaning, or state to a distortion or corruption of what was first intended. Noun A person whose sexual behavior is regarded as abnormal or unacceptable. Since we use it as a noun, the definition in red is the one we will use. The one we use to define a 'perv', or the definition that we thought fits for what we call 'pervs'. There are two categories of 'pervs' on pimd. The 'real pervs' and the 'misinformed players'. The 'real pervs' know that what they do is against the rules but they don't care. That is what we can call a pervert. Their sexual behaviors are unacceptable on pimd, therefore the word pervert is adequate to use in their case. The 'misinformed players' are people who were first approached by another 'misinformed player' or a real pervert, or cyber pervert. They simply do not know that they are doing something against the rules and they will stop if they are informed that it is not how you play pimd. A lot of players actually start like this. These are the two major categories of 'pervs' that we can find here. There are other categories, minorities, but they aren't needed here and they are not necessary to know. I think we can all agree that 'pervs' give pimd players a bad image on other games and they feed a stereotype that is supposedly untrue. We would like, if I believe what a good number of players I've asked the question to, that pervs would be dealt with, that someone has to make it stop, that the community of real players have to do something. I picked random people from campus to see their opinions about this and they all replied that pervs are in fact a problem that has to end. I questioned myself wether their answer was what they thought or what they had to say to fit in with the rest. My answer to that question was that a lot of them were hypocrites. I have recruited some people I trust to test the players I interviewed and also some I didn't interviewed just to see what was the real position of the said real players regarding the 'pervs' issue. Some people would disband clubs, others would farm 'pervs', interrogate players via private messages, post on campus chat that they would farm the next 'perv' posting on campus. I was surprise when I really saw that most of the real players were siding with the 'pervs'. One of my trusted friends posted on campus chat that the next 'perv' posting would get farmed. That friend received threats from several 'true' players. Some were 500Kcs, 40Kcs, 100Kcs, 50Kcs. Only one person said they would help him if they had real troubles, another player wanted to help by farming 'pervs' too. Almost every time a dirty roleplay club was disbanded, we kept track and in most of the cases, a 'real' player created a new club with evident names. Even after being warned that the club they were about to create was breaking the rules, these players would just threaten us or tell us to mind our own business. We were farmed by clubs for farming pervs, disbanding their clubs, reporting them. We told the clubs that they defended people who broke the rules, but they would just say they didn't care. I have even had the chance to see a reputed forumer and some 'real players' in a dirty roleplay club. Unlike me and my friends, they were not there to disband that club, but to take part in their activities and to help them recruit members. Yet these people would say just before that they were against 'pervs'. I will not disclose these players' identity for this thread is not to humiliate players, but I believe some of them will recognize themselves. During my observation time, I have been threatened personally by important clubs, and those who showed me support were the clubs that were seen as bad people, as bullies. I have asked the devs what was their opinion on this problem and when they answered me, it was with very vague answers or they simply ignored me. I've seen people from SBO, who used to disband dirty roleplay clubs, telling to my friends that if they were farming 'pervs', they would personally farm my friends until they reset. My last question, as a conclusion, is this: 'Do we really care about pervs, are we neutral, do we support them?' I've been witnessing outrageous proof that we, as a community, did not really worked to stop them. I know that this does not concern the totality of the community, that the 'we' is simply to illustrate what appeared to me as the majority, but not the unanimity. My final observation is that a lot of people say they are against 'pervs' in public just to fit in, but not to defend their real ideas. Sorry for the mistakes and the length. That thread took me the last 3 months to write. Thanks to those who helped me in the process of my writing.
Nice article, but what purpose does it serve? As you stated in your article everyone should mind their own business. If people choose to associate with a perv its their decision, why must you and everyone else get a say in it?
I haven't said I was encouraging the line of thought 'mind your own business'. The purpose of this thread is simply informative. You read if you want to. No one is forced to read and to agree with me. This is just observations I have made.
And Wayne, please spare me your unnecessary comments. Your 'administration' belongs to the past so don't come and act like you still 'own' the place.
I would consider that people who have sex with animals, children and corpses are pervs. People trying to get online boy/girlfriends may be desperate but not perverts. Ironically, a lot of the people hopping up and down about 'pervs' on pimd tend to be not that innocent in many cases......
even though you quote a dictionary definition… who's to dictate what is "normal" and"acceptable" anymore? as an example, cultural standards. what we, in america, find unacceptable is the norm somewhere else.
It's fun to fuck with them. Literally. I'm such a pervert that I perverted my back-then-girlfriend. But I dont do that shit online. I'm not an online perv I've received threats from a well known lcbc while I was disbanding clubs. But whatev'z. I kept doing it. Muahahaha. Didnt get farmed. This one time I joined a war as a merc. There were lots of friends. Like 5 lcbc's and like 20 other low/mid/high t5's. and when we won, I realized it was a dirty club. Saw the club page and saw the rp schedule and that the dirty kind was allowed.... I felt ashamed But yeah. Just sharing stories
Why do we feel the need to label people? Don't hate a person just because they sin differently than you.
Slender, please. I bet every male downloaded this app for the picture at the start. Probably some females too. But, everyone is a perv. Others just like to show it off.
Pretty sure a lot of people downloaded it because of kaw. Badly drawn boobs aren't that persuasive. Just sayin'
Mkay. That could be a reason. Keyword being could. But let's be honest, who downloaded it for the app picture? I did.
