Hello readers! This is my first time ever writing a first-love-first-heartbreak novel. I hope you like it. 'Girl meets boy, girl loves boy, girl gets boy, girl leaves, boy searches, girl dies, boy sacrifices himself,' said my grandmother. I was horrified. Surely that's not what love is really like...is it? I mean, how would I know? I'm only ten! 'Grandma?' I said. 'Is being in-love a good thing?' I asked her. She looked blankly into the sky. 'It depends on who you're in-love with,' she replied. She then got out of her chair, and hobbled out of the room to her study. I loved my grandma, more than anything, but, something made me think that she was lying about the whole 'girl meets boy' thing. My parents seemed pretty happy together. That is until, my mother killed herself. Romeo and Juliet seemed happy together. That is until, they both died. Maybe she was right, maybe it depended on who you loved. Maybe if you loved the right person, then things would be OK. And if you loved the wrong person, then you would get your heartbroken. Love seemed complicated. I never want to fall in-love. Never, never, never! I will live on my own in a mansion, with my best friend, Jessica. I don't need love. I don't want love. The only thing I need is family. And the only thing I want is family. 'Alana!' called my father from the kitchen. I rose from my chair, and plodded in, still thinking about what grandma said. 'What do you want for tea?' He asked me. I pondered, then came out with a stupid question. 'Dad, when Mum died, how did it feel?' I asked. He looked upset. 'Sorry,' I added. He nodded. Be sure to give me some feedback!
