Chris Kyle (1974-2013) Chad Littlefield (1977-2013) I haven't seen any threads on this subject yet. And as a current marine and military member. I want to make the death of a historic American sniper and his friends death known. On February 2, 2013 Chris Kyle an Ex- Navy SEAL and his friend were shot to death at a Texas shooting range. Chris Kyle was said to have been the Navy SEALto have shot Bin Ladden, and had served 4 tours in Iraq. Chad Littlefield was known by friends to be the "Effortless, No expectations friend that Chris needed". Chris Kyle also owned a nonprofit organization known as "FITCO Cares" which provided at home fitness equipment for emotionally and physically wounded veterans. Chris was known as Americas most deadly sniper, and was feared and known by all enemies. And on top of that he was known as a devoted family man regardless of his dutys for the military. He was known for his sense of humor, compassion, selflessness, and generosity. He was also the author of the best-selling book "American Sniper". They were both killed at the Texas shooting range by a war veteran Eddie Ray Routh. Eddie is on a $3 million dollar bail at the moment. Kyle and Littlefield were at the shooting range to help Routh with a post-traumatic stress disorder. Eddie killed both of the men and fled in their truck to his sisters house. He than told his sister that "he didn't trust them, killed them before they could kill him". His sister than called the police describing her brother as psychotic. Rouths brother-in-law told the police that Routh had recently been diagnosed with PTSD. His attorney told police that two days before the shootings he had been released upon his family's wishes from the Dallas Veterans Affairs Hospital. REMEMBER THESE MEN
Respect. I'm a veteran and served two combat tours in Iraq as well. Nothing but respect for all branches, especially heroes such as these listed. Such a tragedy. The guy should be in the express lane on death row.
Dang Wes, that sucks a lot, so from my view, did Chris and his friend bring Eddie to the range? But why would Eddie be at a shooting range? Certain images, sounds will trigger a lot if PTSD vets...
They rode together there. They brought him to the range because they help ex veterans. They were helping him through his problems. That's all. He couldn't handle it. Chris and his friend knew the consequences that could come. They were just brave enough to face them.
I read through this. If I am thinking about the same guy, I had read an article on a magazine about him not too long ago.... May he and his friend rest in peace.
Then that being said ignore the death row thing. It's tough and these two seem like heroes that we all strive to be.
Both men knew the consequences that could happen dealing with Routh. They were brave and I respect them highly. Most people could never do what they did. It's not often you try to help a man with stress disorder from war shoot a gun again. They were just trying to help him go back to as normal as possible. I respect.
