"Lucas, promise me that you'll be back. Promise me." Maia's emerald eyes brimmed with sadness and pain as she embraced the love of her life. Her slender faint arms were wrapped around his waist. She looked into his frosty blue eyes and a sad smile drew on both of their faces. "Maia, there's nothing I want more to be by your side again. I'll be back, I..." Lucas took a deep breath and reached in to kiss Maia's pink soft lips; then he whispered in pain, "I promise." Maia knew that that promise was impossible, though she hoped and prayed that he will be back soon. Lucas broke off the hug when they announced his flight number. "I love you, Maia. Never forget." He kissed her for the last time that year in a cold night in December. It was passionate and gentle; and then he broke it off. He walked away slowly without looking back, and Maia couldn't bear looking at his back. It was painful. "Lucas! I love you! I will wait for you no matter what! So don't die on me!" Her tears were flowing nonstop, people were looking at her in awe. They knew how she felt too. Their soldiers were leaving. Lucas ran back; he couldn't bear the pain of leaving her. He lifted her and embraced her for the longest time. "I love you, Maia. I am so sorry, baby. If I'm not coming back... promise me you'll find another. Promise me, Maia." "No... I don't want to replace you, Lucas. So don't die on me." Lucas put her down and kissed her again, it was so long that she drowned in despair. She pushed him away and forced a smile. She wiped his tears away and said, "Goodbye Lucas." He closed his eyes and turned his back again. Each and every one that were seeing their love ones off cried so hard. But she was alone. Lucas was her only family. "Lucas, I love you..." she whispered as she lost sight of him. "I love you... so much." She broke down on her knees, crying so much, afraid of losing the person she needed the most. On the other hand, Lucas was quietly suffering inside. His tears were also flowing nonstop. He took out their picture out of his wallet and kissed it so many times. "Maia..." "Let go, Lucas." His friend, Jason said. "Let's do our best." Lucas calmed down and closed his eyes, trying to overcome the pain. He never wanted to see Maia with that kind of expression. It killed him so much. Maia wiped her tears away and whispered to herself, "Stay strong. Lucas will come back... He will. He will come back..." She said as she stood up and left the airport empty and broken. ______________________________________ A story for each and everyone who has their soldiers. It hurts when you know when they're leaving. So this is a story based on farewells. Hope you like it! I'll try my best to finish this.
"Maia, if Lucas heard about this, you know he would get mad." A soft and worried voice came outside from Maia's room. Maia stood up from the corner of her bed and wiped her face with her maroon comforter. "Mum...?" She whispered from the other side of the door. "Maia, please... come out of your room. Please." Ellen, Maia's mother begged. Maia took a deep breath and her right hand held the silver doorknob. It was cold as ice. Slowly and nervously, she opened the wooden oak door. The first thing she saw was Ellen's pain. Her emerald eyes showed all the feelings a mother should hold when their daughter is in the pit of their depression. Maia's tears were flowing again, she grabbed her mother and hugged her. "I'm sorry, ma. I'm sorry." A painful smile drew on Ellen's face, she hugged her daughter back and patted her. "It's okay, baby." The hug was long and comforting. The both of them laughed for a bit and then Maia went back to her bed while her mother followed. Maia's head rested on Ellen's lap. She sighed, "It's so hard." "Just stay strong, baby. And pray for his safety. Lucas will be back." Maia nodded and continued crying until she fell asleep. _______________________ ☆ The next day went fast, she woke up with swollen red eyes and a broken heart. She could still remember the memories from the start. Lucas' voice still lingers in her mind and her heart. She loved him, body, heart, mind, and soul. She got up and thought positively. She then went to take a bath, then ate, then caged herself in her room once again. Driving herself insane was not advisable. She was just unhappy now that he was gone. Really, really unhappy. She closed her eyes as she heard the doorbell ring repeatedly. Mum and dad must be at work. She thought. She stood up and dragged herself forcefully to open the main door. Their house was normal, only had two bedrooms and three bathrooms. Just like a normal family's. She opened the door and was greeted with a painful smile from a man in his early 20s, with faint white skin, amazing frosty blue eyes just like Lucas', and a beautiful face. "Liam..." Maia gulped.
