I loved my family very much; a traveling clan of gypsies, determined never to settle in one place for too long. I was a freak among them, quite literally the red headed step-child, but for the most part, none of them thought it mattered. I think I had a bigger problem with myself than anyone else did, at least as far as I knew. I was just so different from them. We're vampires by the way. Elementals, not sparkly ones. Our bodies reflect our elements in our hair and figures mostly, occasionally in our eyes, but we're all ridiculously pale. My clan is made up of the calm, stable elements: earth, air, and water, that is. All except me. My element? Fire. You can't get more wild and unstable than that. The other women were beautiful: black, green, or blue eyes and hair, and skinny like you see all of those celebrities. I, on the other hand, had long, curly, dark red hair (even though I frequently dyed it black), eyes that vary from black to pale blue, and from amber to garnet, and though I was slender, I clearly had curves. The majority of the men in my clan preferred the normal, skinny ones, all except three. The three perverts, whose eyes were all constantly on me, never trying to hide it, especially when I danced.
Is anyone enjoying this so far? Or does anyone think it has potential? Because I'm basing whether or not I should write more on the feedback I get here
Awesome! Okay so here's a little more: I rose to the balls of my feet and crossed my wrists above my head, my silk top sliding up above my navel. I paused: this was my first time performing in front of this many people. My eyes were closed, but from what I had seen walking out, this audience was much bigger than when I usually performed in front of my family. I shook away these thoughts. After all, I was Adamina's apprentice. She was the greatest dancer in history since Avani, the inventor of our dance. If I wasn't good, she wouldn't have continued my lessons, not to mention she hand picked me from all the children when I was just three years old. So I started my dance, my eyes still closed. The pulse of the music surrounded me and moved my body. I could tell from their gasps that the audience had nerve seen anything like this, but other than that, they were completely silent. The magic I was weaving was working, making them feel my dance, making them feel the anger of a thunderstorm, the passion of fire, and the strength of the earth. As I finished, my body pressed to the floor of the stage as if I were bowing, applause rose from the crowd
I rose, smiled, and bowed again, then left the stage. Once backstage, I was attack hugged by a thin woman with dark green hair and a kind face. "Makenna! That was absolutely perfect! Better than when we practiced!" "Adamina! Thank you so much! I remembered everything you taught me!" Adamina stayed by my side as I walked through the crowd of my family, receiving all of the compliments and praise along with me. I was especially glad to have her there when I saw them. Ares, Serkan, and Eros. Remember those three perverts I told you about? Well this is them.
You have a good vocab, no punctuation mistakes and you're rather descriptive. But instead of just describing the scene you should describe her emotions too. And something that I don't really understand is that you pretty much made your chrarcter perfect (appearance-wise) yet she's considered a freak in her own thoughts? Maybe you should try to tone down on using 'beautiful' phrases to describe your character
cut offfff. as it seems ironic that people (story) would prefer the other normal looking vampires to her. Excluding the three guys. And maybe you should explain the part about her being a step daughter too~ good story ^~^ Jyjy.
Hey guys! Thanks for all the feedback! It's a pretty short update, but to help you out with picturing these guys, think about this I imagined Ares kind of as Richard Armitage, Eros as Taylor Lautner, and Serkan as Jackson Rathbone. Thanks and enjoy... Ares, an earth elemental, is basically the ring leader. His hair is as black as pitch and is always perfectly coiffed, his eyes a frosty blue. He can have any woman he wants, but he only seems to have eyes for me. That, combined with his massive ego and British accent, made him remind me quite a bit of Gaston from Beauty and the Beast, only a lot less hairy. His right hand man, Eros, is another earth elemental. His hair is the color of cinnamon, and he likes to spike it up; it drives the girls crazy. His eyes are so dark a brown that they're almost black, and his skin is nicely tanned. Everything about him screams sex, which makes sense seeing as he was named after the God of lust and desire. Serkan wasn't quite like the others. He was shy, and though he didn't show it often, he had a sensitive side. His hair was black like Ares', but it was longer, and seemed not as harsh of a black. His eyes were hazel and worried looking, even though he never really was. He was an air elemental, the second rarest (the first of course being fire). The difference between our kinds however, is that air elementals are highly respected in our society, whereas fire elementals are feared and shunned from most covens. Maybe that's why he was so nice to me, so sympathetic. Maybe because I was different, because my real mother had abandoned me on the side of a road, only for a gypsy coven to find me and accept me into their ranks.
Eros was the first to approach me, beaming with his arms outstretched. As he wrapped his arms around me, I pulled back and put a hand on his chest, holding him back. I glared up at him, my flesh heating up and my eyes going dark. "Back. Off." I hissed. I felt a small, cool hand touch my bare shoulder as he backed away from me. "Makenna, calm down." Adamina soothed. A chill ran across my skin and I took a step back. Serkan's lips tugged up in a small smile and he mouthed "hello". I smiled back and waved my hand slightly. Then Ares strode forward, tall and broad-shouldered. He was shirtless as usual, and a swirling black tribal tattoo on his arm was a large contrast to his pale skin. He gently reached for my hand and bent down, lightly kissing the back of it and all the while keeping eye contact with me. I'll give it to him, he was really hot. He knew how to treat a woman, too. "That was an exceptionally lovely performance this evening, Makenna." He purred. I lowered my head slightly, "Thank you very much, Ares." He smiled, "I only speak the truth. Would you maybe want to come over to my tent for a drink?" I shook my head. "No, Ares. I'm too tired for it tonight." He nodded, looking a little let down. "Alright. Goodnight then." I said goodnight to the boys and Adamina, but instead of going back to my tent, I went around back of our camp. I sat down on a rock and breathed in the cool night air. I heard a stone skip across the others and froze. Someone was behind me. I turned slowly to see a dark figure lurking in the shadows. I inhaled, trying to analyze the scent. Werewolf. ----------------------------------- Hey guys! Sorry it took me so long to update, but this is where the fun really starts let's just say Makenna is about to meet someone VERY important....
My fangs instinctively slid out of my gums to their full extent, and I hissed. The figure leaned back and put up his hands defensively. "Woah, there! I don't mean you any harm. Please, I just want to talk." A young, deep voice grumbled. I tried to reply, but my fangs got in the way, so I cursed quietly and let them retract. "Who are you?" My voice seemed small and insignificant to his. He seemed more dominant; he was probably an alpha our whatever those mutts' leader was called. "I'm Lucian. I'm here with my family for the fair. I saw your dance, and I have to say it was quite beautiful." He sounded shy at this, and he had stepped into the pale moonlight just barely enough for me to see him. His cheeks looked flushed from what I could see under the dark stubble that seemed to be everywhere. He had long, dark hair, and some of it was pulled back out of his blue-green eyes in a small ponytail on the top of his head. I had never seen a werewolf in real life, but God, I never knew they were that hairy. It kind of fit with them though: they were survivors, outcasts, rugged and savage folk. "Hello, Lucian," I replied after a short while went by, "I'm Makenna."
