I hope you read it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chapter 1 He coughed. Again and again, he coughed. I give his hand a tight squeeze and whisper, "I'll find a way to get you through this." He just gives me a weak smiles and closes his eyes. I walk away from my brother, walking out of his room. I head to my mother's room. Everyone in Wonderland is sick. The only ones slightly harmed by it is my mother, my other two brothers, and myself. My father is taking the worst of it. The disease is called the influenza. My mother tells me it's originally harmless but has mutated into a disease like what she calls cancer. Everyone is coughing up blood, pale, and, of course, dying. I lightly knock on my mother's door and I hear her voice saying, "Come in, Tessa." I open the door quietly and walk to her. She is standing next to my father, holding his hand as if he is fragile. "Mom, I want to help," I say. She shakes her head, I small sigh escaping her lips. "But, Mom! Pete can show me the way out. And I can find Aunt Carol and Uncle Danny." "Tessa, no. It's dangerous up there. And, you are not going to look normal." She means my ears, purple hair, and tail. I'm part cat, like my father. There are perks to being part cat. I am adorable and I can hear quite well. But there are some...downers. For instance, I have fears of dogs, water, and heights. And I sometimes crave mice, birds, and squirrels. Not so good. "So?" I say, looking at my mother intently. She rolls her eyes and sighs. I have gained stubbornness from my father. "So, you can't roam around up there." She is referring to the surface. We live under the surface...sort of. My mother was taken by Pete Rabbit from the surface and brought her to Wonderland to rule it. And she is...after her twin brother died. She even has special powers for being the Sun Twin. So, that's her story shortened. "I won't! Pete can look after me. Or Dee or Dum or Blood orー" "Pete is not going. If anyone it will be your older brothers." Dee and Dum! They aren't really my brothers, just brotherly figures. "Pete can show you the way. But that's it. And you cannot take too long. Only as long as necessary." "Yes! Thanks, Mom! Bye, Dad." I pat my father's hand and walk out of the room. Then I call for my brothers. "Dee! Dum!" I find them outside, pointing and arguing. "It's this way!" says Dee. "No, no. It's this way!" Dum argues. "Dee! Dum!" I say chipperly. "Tessie!" they exclaim and hug me. "What's going on?" "I'm going to the surface! To get the medicine for everyone here in Wonderland!" "Really?" asks Dum. "Cool!" says Dee. "I don't know if you both are coming with me or if it's just one of you two." I have him the half-moon smile my father normally uses. "Cool! I'm going to talk to Alice!" Dee says, running already. "No! I'm going to talk to Alice!" Dum argues, running after his brother.
