And how exactly do you plan to have religion in schools when the US is the "Melting pot"? Cultural diversity, and all that. Religious beliefs cross in different religions and many people practice different things. There are private schools for religion. As for gun control, it won't solve anything. If someone wants to kill that badly, s/he will find a way. As for the shooting, it happened a few days ago? Do you expect everyone to simply drop the subject? I also don't think you realize the effect it can have on teens throughout the states. Just because they aren't in the area of the shooting doesn't mean they won't be scared or upset about something like this. People are in shock at the whole event still. It's not like its a month after it happened and people are still talking about it as if it's a new story. Hell, even the president spoke on the topic last night, as were witnesses interviewed. How can you not expect people to talk about it when new information is still being released?
How insensitive can you get? It was 3 days ago, of course people are still going to be talking about it! It's tragic! How would you feel if you were a parent and your child was killed, and people just stopped talking about it. Those parents are going through the worst time in their lives, and sympathy, if nothing else, shows that people care.
I disagree strenuously with the reasoning that gun control is useless because people will find a way to commit violence. I use drunk driving as an example, because it became illegal over my lifetime. Will people drink and drive anyway? Yes, but the risk associated with being caught is prohibitive. Consequently, the numbers have declined in relation to population growth. Laws and regulations exist to curb behaviors that create victims... What is more victimizing than murder? One of those dead children has created dozens of victims behind their senseless death. Why regulate the buying and selling of stocks? People will commit fraud anyway? Why outlaw human trafficking? People will kidnap anyway? Ad infinitum, ad nauseum
Yes. But in drunk driving people aren't aiming to kill. There is already a wait period to stop people from buying guns and murdering during a fit of anger. It still happens. People hunt, so there will be guns in houses regardless. Anyways, some murderers plan these things. You don't think they'd find a way to murder innocent people without guns? These mass murders aren't something that take place on a day to day basis. They're special cases.... Gun laws can't stop situations like these.
Since the UK outlawed handguns in the wake of the school shooting in Scotland, there have been no incidents of that nature in the UK... Since 1996. NYC gun crimes have dropped precipitously since Mayor Bloomberg implemented stop and frisk. Tax ammunition. Create liability insurance for retailers and purchasers of guns. There are a host of methods to create safety.
Right. As everyone is getting 'hurt' over topic 1. I'll try to add some clearance. Yes it was 3 days ago. Yes in was in America. Why then, does the whole world need to be constantly be reminded? Other countries are constantly printing out the same thing; America shooting this and that. These other countries need to get news related to themselves. In America, I can understand that it's horrific and I agree with that as previously stated. Just saying that the world can be fickle, one day it'll be 'I'm extremely saddened by this, my life is over' and then after each month. People move on. I didn't say people in just America. Which is what you seem to think? I mean people in general around the world, we all have problems. Jimmy Saville, sure that the world doesn't care about him considering he sexually assulted many a teenage girl and yet I'd hazard a guess that America couldn't care less about him? Hope that didn't 'hurt' you anymore than the original statement 'bro'.
Please be aware people. Someone reading this might be the second cousin of one of the beautiful children that passed on. Just something you might want to think about.
5 kids where shot near me that didn't even make national news never mind world news because jimmy saville is a bigger story
Living in Mexico you get used to it to the point where shootings are just a "Awww poor people " kinda thing. There were shootings every week. Restaurants were bombed by drug cartels. Clubs were bombed and gunned. My neighborhood was considered to be pretty safe. In those 3 years, 4 friends from school were kidnapped and held for ransom. Thankfully they were released and unharmed. 3 kids under 15yrs of age were found decapitated in the apartments behind my house. A few priest ls were kidnapped and returned. one was decapitated, a few teens were kidnapped and killed, over 30 people were found cut to pieces in a city close to mine, friends and family were mugged, my mom's pregnant friend was assaulted for her shoes. Her fetus was killed in the attack. (All you swag fags with your Jordans wouldnt survive in Mexico). The clinic by my house was robbed. Their money/hummer was taken. A family about... 10 houses down was attacked. The dudes had uniform and vehicles from the electric company and knocked at their gate stating they were doing the monthly check ups. They held them at gunpoint. All in my neighborhood. Which was 'safe'. Imagine the unsafe parts. The government and police are corrupted. Lots of police stations are controlled by cartels. One time, the police attacked our own military in attempt to stop the military from taking down drug lords. Of course, the military won that battle. But still. There's this thing called "levantones" which translates to sumtn like "pick ups" where police drive up to bus stops, get out of their trucks with their rifles and select people out of the group, shoot the ones who resist, put them in the trucks and drive off. Many if those reported to be takenfrom the bus stops are found dead or dismembered later down the weeks. Now, why's that not on the news? I'm curious to know how people in the US would react if that happened here in the US. You get used to it. You'd be surprised.
Thank you jopo... It's dramatic what happened in Cleveland... My heart goes out to the families... But it's not an isolated case... This summer a crazy guy went inside a school and killed about the same amount of kids in the south of France... The same guy also killed many other people prior to that... Mainly army people, or police officers... Most people didn't hear about it... One life is not worth more than another... To what op said... It is true... When the columbine shooting happened everyone was like omg I can't believe this happened!!! Now it's just a faded memory... The Cleveland shooting will be the same in a few years... Yes it's dramatic... But you'd be surprised how people tend to forget stuff really fast...
