Now I may as well begin by saying, hello again from myself. Some people may remember me from long ago. For those of you that don't, go hide under a rock or something, Christmas shopping and all that. In other words, I'm going to be a running a new news channel forum whatever you want to name it. I'll be taking some high profile news and adding my opinions. They aren't facts, they won't be polite and they ain't gonna be pretty. I don't care who I'll annoy or for all intents and purposes. I couldn't give a rats ass to who wants to complain. Topic 1: School shooting. Now this topic is rather horrific, but I'll say this. Does the event affect you in anyway shape or form? If no... Why are you constantly bringing it up? Do I constantly bring up the shooting in 2005 where a policeman shot an innocent man alleged to be carrying a gun? No. Do you care that more children die in Africa everyday than how many died in that school shooting? No. In a simple answer, if we worried about all the horrific events that happened in the world. We'd have no time to do anything else other than worry. Now, don't get me wrong, the shooting is horrible and I send my condolences to the families involved, but we all should move on and stop bringing it up. We're not involved and we won't care as soon as we get our little hands on that new iPod or phone you all want. Short answer: Life goes on. Topic 2 - Kate Middleton's pregnancy Oh yah. Another eating, pooping ungrateful brat to brought into the world where media will twist anything you say and everything you do is moderated and observed. Brilliant. I'm going to keep this short and sweet. She is a woman. Women get pregnant. It happens. Just because she is married to royalty doesn't mean the pregnancy will be any different to any woman before her. The news ought to have better things to talk about than some jumped up middle aged woman getting pregnant. The baby will most likely be Harry's anyway. The all new ginger prince/princess. (However if the baby turns out to be like her mother saying that the baby shall be female. I wouldn't mind calling dibs. Just sayin') Topic 3 - The inventor of the Barcode has died Thanks to this man, my life working in retail is so much easier. God bless this man. I surely wouldn't want to check everything by hand. He managed to invent something and barely anyone knew his name. (Norman Joseph Woodland FYI) During his funeral I was expecting a beep as he coffin went into the car, just checking that his reputation was still intact of course. Topic 4 - Music. I've got a job in the music industry. I love it to bits. I don't get paid, however it's a hobby and a job due to me having an audience or customers as you will. However... I'm forced to play music that isn't even music. Rappers who repeat words in Bingo instead of English, an annoying repetitive beat, making up new words that make no sense or my personal favourite, repeating words. I heard a song with these lyrics - 'Ain't got no time for Dat money, gonna get some honey, down in da club, what up ma scrub'. Right... The beat was ok. No problems with that, but Da? Ma? Dat? Really!? Come on, it's like they let anyone into music these days... Oh wait. They do. In all honesty, I gave up on this topic as it made my head ache so badly that it felt like I had been mauled by a bear, during mating season. That had iron boxing gloves... With spikes... Topic 5 - Christmas It's that time of year again. Christmas lights, decorations, the present giving and that time of cheer. Meh, I prefer the Grinch's style. Steal Christmas from everyone. Perhaps a Scrooge approach would be better suited for the job. I'm trying to say is, be happy for what you're given and what you have. Don't decide to be little unicorns at Christmas because you didn't get that new game or book you wanted. (Does your generation even read books anymore?) Be merry, be thoughtful, be a better person. Panda's life lesson over. Topics of the week complete. (if you take offence this is mostly jokes and humour. Don't get upset. If you have any recommendations for topics feel free to message me)
I have to disagree with you on Topic 1 People can hold their attention on multiple fronts. Children dying in Africa from treatable disease, malnutrition and small arms fire is just as tragic as this recent act of evil. Don't presume that we are like puppies only able to see what is in front of us. This tragedy allows the United States to have a needed discussion about gun violence. Drunk driving used to be perfectly legal. Then parents had enough of their children dying and formed MADD. Media exposure and social discussion of tragedy promotes healing and prevention.
What... The hell? First off, topic one. Since when does a tragedy have to directly effect others for them not to have sympathy? It's a fresh incident, and considering its in the states, where the same people who being it up live, people are going to be upset, partially because of how close to home it is. But mainly because its natural to feel sad when children die, is it not? As for Christmas.... I think you yourself have a misconception of what this holiday is and how people are. I question whether you know much about other humans at all. I haven't seen very many people, save maybe tiny children, who get extremely upset when they don't get what they want. Also, what's up with the condescending tone? And the implications? We aren't all children, and if we were, I'd have this to say regarding the "your generation" comment: Go visit a book store. 'Nuff said.
It's jokes aimed at common misguided stereotypes. And for Topic 1 - Lots of incidents happened around the world at any given time. Just saying IF we the media hasn't chosen that incident. Would you care then? No... Just because you heard about it, you care. But when you forget, do people still care? It just turns into 'That was bad, what a shame' kinda attitude. In a way, the way I pitched it, you won't really forget all too soon... And Christmas, well, once again. Poking some fun at misguided stereotypes
I disagree. When sad things happen, people feel sad. Of course we won't feel sad about things the media doesn't cover, because how will we? That's pretty much our only outlet for knowledge in other parts of the world. Although I do still go with what I said above. Africa won't be as important to US citizens as incidents that happen in the US simply because the events happen close to home. And as for your "poking fun", just because they're jokes doesn't make them okay. Stereotypical jokes aren't always okay. Racial jokes aren't okay. They're offensive. So I don't care if you're kidding or not, I'm going to take you seriously.
To be fair to panda, regarding Christmas, thats how it is where I am too. Theres nothing religious about it for me and i dont have much family. Children do strop if they dont get what they want. Regarding the shootings. What EP is saying is it is something we do not need to constantly be reminded of. Yes there are horrific things that happen all over the world. Countries being torn apart and people being killed for standing up to governments. Now come at us.
Hehe. You have a very similar opinion to mine, except for the school shooting, but I do agree that we wouldn't know if the media hadn't told us, and it will turn from a tragedy to a "crying shame".
Actually there are studies that show the mass media provides society with moral panics. They only report the news they know will travel fast.
Well about topic 1 I love how now the democrats are gonna try and ban semi auto weapons-auto weapon, a gun can't shoot itself at people, no a person has to do this, and in our schools we need to teach more about guns, and allow GOD to be in our school so this will not happen.
Guns don't shoot people, people shoot people. That's like toasters don't make toast, but toast toasts toast.
But if people don't have guns, then they can't shoot other people. Logic. No one can put every sociopath in a safe environment. No one can predict who's going to snap and just start shooting people. If they don't have guns, there's one way to just kill everyone eliminated.
The fact that you think people with guns are more likely to kill is laughable You think gun control will solve the shootings? No. There's going to be more incidents and more elaborate creative massacres because people aren't really seeing the root of the problem. The masses are too far up the media's ass to think for themselves and would rather devour of the drugged up food media and government give.
^ We can't really do much. I haven't read too much into the incident, but the perpetrator, Adam Lanza, supposedly suffered from extreme depression and multiple disorders that may or may not have influenced his decisions, and if so, then I guess the media should focus on rehabiliation for people suffering from mental illnesses, etc. Just my opinion though. I dunno.
