Honestly, it's a power trip. First of all, an ego striker  when you make it apparent to the public that you were at a right when you've publicly humiliated the other person. You've not only lowered them in comparison to you, but you've also made them look likes coward and can't stand their own. It's human nature to want to be the Alpha.
