Does anyone else agree that legalizing marijuana for "medical purposes" only will not be a good thing ?
Making state laws to legalize things that are illegal by a federal law, is illegal. But nobody cares lol.
It's not illegal for states to make their own laws. However, federal law supersedes state law, so even if a state decides to make it legal, it's still illegal. Even people who grow it for medical purposes can be prosecuted by federal law. So it's kind of dumb to make state laws about it.
And if this gets legalized, which I don't think it should, how will people know if its being used for "medical purposes"?
.-. in that case create an admendment to the constitution to legalize it. You can always cancel a law with another law. I would say legalize it, BIG TAX on it, then make it only able to be smoked in private homes but in public only at legal smaoking zones. TA DA
I agree with dan. Enough people smoke it illegally, so if you really want to smoke it, you gotta pay a huge tax on it. Just like tobbaco.
Actually, it IS perfectly fine for states to pass their own laws. It's just that they don't matter because it is still illegal under federal law. This summer, Chicago decriminalized marijuana. You can now only get a ticket for small amounts. All 50 states pass their own laws. In cases where a state law contradicts a federal law, the federal law wins. If states couldn't pass their own laws, then why would there be state legislatures and state bills being voted on? The Civil War happened for many different reasons. However, the thing regarding state v federal law that lead to secession was the failure of nullification. There are a few reasons to legalize marijuana. Being able to tax it is a huge bonus, as is freeing up space in prisons.
Legalize it and tax the crap out of it, in the past, people did drugs without problems like stupid people today. Include major fines and consequences. And bring back the death penalty just for that. Yes I approve of the death penalty
