Me either that was a while of searching through useless threads and RPs to find a story on the 65th page.
-Mini Update- -Yes this continues from the original post- I started heading back to the little eatery. Maybe take a piece of cake for the road. In my profession, any one mission can take you just about anywhere. After paying the lady, I walked out just as the fog rolled in. A pair of fog lights were the only thing able to light the road, illuminating me and causing me to squint a bit. Sure enough though the bus pulled up and opened its doors with a slight creak. I stepped inside and waited until the next stop. Sure enough when I stepped out the sun was shining and I was engulfed in a sea of people and towering buildings. I don't remember the last time being in this time, but here I may as well blend in. *Beep Beep Beep. Ring Beep Ring* "Hello this is Jericho speaking." "Mr. Unmakase, any questions prior to the mission?" "Well tell me if the family is really a family consumed by demons." I spoke to the familiar feline voice. "Well sir your mission here isn't like any other." "And what would you call that last one?" I breathlessly chuckled in disbelief. "But that one was still picking up a lost soul and guiding them back to the after life. This one is instead more like a rescue mission. This person is still alive but needs to be taken back to us immediately." "So I'm rescuing someone from the agency or am I kidnapping someone?" "Let's just say that this person is a key part, and if he's not rescued..." "Then what? Will the universe cease to exist? Will the demons open up a vortex and begin devouring these buildings as if they were giant wafers?! The suspense is killing me." I smirked a little. "I sent the coordinates and a picture to you. Just do what you do best." And the feline hanged up on me. I sat down at a park, startied eating my pastry while looking at the profile for this mission. The face looks oddly familiar. Soon enough it'd hit me that this will be a mission of time... And one that will take up too much of it.... Maybe even all of it.
~Chapter 0.5~ I felt something heavy on my chest. Puzzled I patted my over coat and then checked the inside pocket. "Why looky here. A pack of cigs." I wasn't amused. It's a nasty habit and one I'm not going into. Didn't like it when I was alive and I didn't like it now. I contemplated giving it to a passerby, but instead I threw it down on the sidewalk and stepped on it. I will get him when I return later. He knows how much this irks me. My pager had beeped, so I ducked into the nearest phone booth. Turns out I was needed for another misdion right away. Good, I didn't want to hear any more yelling. This could be bad though, depending on how it is to retrieve the person.
~Chapter 0.5~ I felt something heavy on my chest. I gave my chest a pat, then I checked my inner coat pocket. "Well looky here, a pack of cigs." I stared at it a second, I wasn't amused. I contemplated on giving it to one of the smokers passing me by. Instead I threw it on the wet sidewalk and stepped on it. He knew how much this irked me. I didn't like it when I was alive and I didn't like it now. He shall pay. As I was contemplating on how to get him back, my pager beeped. I ducked into the nearest phone booth. As expected it's another mission. Good: I don't get to hear Chief complaining. Bad: depends on what happens while retrieving the person. I pressed a button on the pager and it showed me a map of where to go. I was headed out of the country for a change. Now I can do this the easy way or the hard way... I stretched getting off the plane. It's good to act like I still belonged here, it helped me feel at ease. I looked out the windows in the JFK Airport. It was a rather rainy day. Nonetheless I'll go through it to finish the job. This is when I finally took the easy route, I snapped myself into a little place in Queens. "Well... Crap." Turned out this would be bad. I always hated when the missions go like this... I have no choice, but I'm still in a big enough city, so I'll have to watch my step. "Don't be like that Mister Shinigami."
Hmm. Yeah I liked the first paragraph of the accidental post than what I had to rewrite quickly. So if you want you can continue from that part in the actual update lol. I'll updte again after some charge.
~Chapter 0.5 Continued~ Right on the couch, the demon and a young lady. "So what brings you here Mister Shinigami?" "You know damn well what brings me here." I retorted. I slowly reached for something in my coat. "Tsk tsk" he sounded like he was scolding me, "You know better than that. Anyways I can't let you and your little office of yours take away only reason of being alive." "You were never alive. I suggest you crawl back into the hole you came out of." "Ah but I was sent here on a mission of my own. He doesn't want you to be where you're supposed to be now." "Where I was supposed to be now?" I was puzzled for a second. Then I remembered what happened before I boarded the plane. *facepalm* "This should've been a distraction enough. Give me the girl and I won't trap you." "Ah but, I was feeling a bit hungry..." The demon growled a little at the end. He started taking of the lady's jacket. I pressumed she had died while sleeping. "Tasty looking isn't she... So tempting, makes me want to devour her in one go..." "Hand over the girl." I proceeded to take out a box from my coat. "And what are you going to do? Throw a box at me? How pathetic." "You're employer seemed to have kept some information hidden from you." I couldn't help but smirk. "What would that be?" He looked up from the girl and focused back on me. He looked a little off guard. "It's not the box, it's what's in the box." I opened it and my cards fell on the floor. "Hahaha 52 pick up? Very scary." He retorted as he grinned while my cards scattered about. The next thing ya know he had his arms wrapped behind him and a muzzle on his face. Another two cards glowed and miniaturized him and locked him up in what resemble a dog carrier. "What the hell." He said a bit muffled and angry. His true form spreading darkness and his horns started to grow. "Be a good mutt and I wouldn't have to imprison you like your friends." I picked up my cards and one reflected with the other demons I had faced before. "Who's your employer?" I then grunted as I picked up the lady and held her over my shoulder. "Like I'd tell you... I'll be back, and I'll definitely get you for this. This won't be the last you hear from me. Jericho." "Right like that's the first time I've heard-" I was interrupted by a gust of wind and a power outage. I quickly made all the cards glow but as soon as I took guard, the power came back. He was gone. "Well at least he didn't put up a real fight... Wait... Agh it'll come back to me." I waved my hand over the cards and they returned to their box that returned to my pocket. I carried the young lady out the door. Something was bugging me though... Like I had forgotten something as soon as I had remembered it... I laid the lady onto a stretcher outside the hospital. I can feel from her life force that she can still make it. If she was meant to die I would be back soon enough. Or someone else from the building. Whomever got there sooner. "Wait a minute." I said while walking away. "Why did she want me to get this person...." My brow furrowed looking at my pager, I then looked at my phone. She could've called. Why the anonmity? I wonder as well. It's a rather fun game we play, she pages me and I use a different phone to call her back. Wait a call, thats something important. I looked through my recents- *BEEP BEEP RING RING BEEP* Speak of the devil. "Jericho Here." "JERICHO GET YOUR ASS BACK TO THE ISLAND LOCATION OR SO HELP ME!" I was greeted by the feline yeller. "Yeah I need you to run some searches on a mutt kind of demon." I snapped my fingers and a spark appeared then dissappeared. "I just sent over the information." "JUST GET YOUR ASS BACK ON THE MISSION I HAD GIVEN YOU BEFORE!" "That's what I thought I may have forgotten. Again." "Jericho, you make it impossible for me to be on your side. You always forget the jobs I relay to you." "Well that's what makes you my Furrrrrrriend." I smirked. I'm not going to lose my cool. 'It's still my job. I have time to do it right.' I thought at the time. "Jericho... Just don't mess up. I told you it's a rescue mission." "You know me better by now." "I hope to see you back at the island Jer. Ciao." "Ciao." I hung up my phone and let out a deep sigh. I picked out a card. It's only now that I remembered the conversation I had with the demon before capturing him. I wondered who was so special that someone had to hire a distraction and make... "Well, why I'll be an ass's ass." It hit me like a ton of bricks. I had to return to my job right away. ~Chapter 0.5 End~
