Friday, June 13th, 2019 It was a dark and stormy night, and every stormy ten seconds the sky lit up like the fourth of July. I am woken by the screaming baby in the next room. Justine, my beautiful girlfriend, wakes up and says, "Tate, sweetie, could you bring Ash in here and let him sleep with us?" Ash is the new born baby brother of Justine but his mother abandoned him. I look over at Justine "Sure thing babe, just go back to sleep and I'll take care of it." I walk down the hall and pick up the screaming baby, holding him close to me, I carry him back to my room and lay Ash next to Justine. I lay there as the baby falls asleep. I realize I can't get back to sleep, so I decide to go for a walk. As I'm walking down the street, I see a line coffee shop open so I decide to get a little coffee and read the newspaper. I order my coffee, grab a paper and sit down, sipping the warm fresh coffee. As I read, I see an article about an army, 2,000 citizens, who are suicide bombers and one bomber struck just last night, only three neighborhoods away from where Justine and Ash are sleeping. Also I read that everyone in the state, needs on watch for strange looking, middle aged men, in long rain coats. As I get up to leave the door, the door opens, and there HE is. The exact description the article gave of the men to be aware of, and walking in behind him, a teenaged girl. I'm in the military, just coming back from war (aka the story The Lucky Ones), as I saw the guy pull out an M16 I knew exactly how to make it unable to shoot. There was one slight problem, he had a bomb strapped to his torso and one little string that he had to pull and we would all be dead, and the crime scene people would be scraping us off the pavement. But I didn't think of how to disarm him or his bomb, all I could think about was Justine and little baby Ash, and what would happen to them if I were to die. The guy said nothing at first, but when he spoke, it was like death had just walked up to me and grabbed me by the throat and started choking me. The man called himself "The Bringer Of Enlightenment." He said "I am your death, but also your savior," he pulled the string, said the Lords prayer in a very old language, and then everything went extremely bright, then nothing. No pain. No sound. Not even any feeling. Just darkness.
