Hi I'm Mandy and I've read all of your updates. This is a really good story!!!! You should try to publish it or something when you finish it. Also, feel free to use my character in your story(; - I'd be honored!! ^-^ good luck with it!!
Thank you guys for still remembering me There will be one more update before Halloween, all-new material. Keep an eye out for it... After that I won't be able to promise any regular updates thanks for the support this last year Have a safe and happy Halloween my HSotD fans
Sorry, I've been working on a crap project I'm kind of curious to debut here -- It's an otome game type story in which you -the readers- choose which male character you'd like to progress the storyline with (errr, well that'd be otome, LOL) Anyway, I had a few false starts and now it's just kind of crappy all around but I might release it just for the hell of it. Spoiler alert: youregonnamaybebeaprincessomgwth Post below if interested? Yes? No? Maybe? (Also spoiler alert: there won't be any zombies in that one, haha) Anyway.... Sorry to ramble... I haven't updated because I've been driving around the United States, being all hippie like and meeting strange and interesting people. Often times I don't have Internet access except for my phone and sometimes I lose my 4G altogether (usually in the mountains). --there should totally be a blog on my adventures but I'm lazy so let's not and say I did-- Ummm so long story short, I do need to sit down and crank out a chapter but I'm in the process of canceling my apartment lease and storing all my furniture (blah blah excuses) so I don't know when HSotD will be updated Thanks for keeping this alive guys, it's really amazing to me that some of you still read it
James’ eyes snapped open suddenly as he heard a noise. It was a creak in the floorboard. He sat up disoriented, and felt the jangling of the cuffs around his wrists. He pulled at them confused before his memories flooded back. Melly! James jumped to his feet and looked around. Then he winced as his broken ribs reminded him of their presence. “Melly!” he shouted into the gradually lightening house. It was well into morning now and Melly was nowhere to be seen. “Melly!” He heard the creaking floorboard again and crouched down quickly, his eyes darting about for a weapon. He saw the chair that he had used before as a weapon and crawled to it. He heard the groaning of a man and peered over the front of the couch. He could see eyes tinged with blood as a man shambled into the house from the open door. His limbs looked almost broken the way they were positioned, angled outwards and limp at the same time. James stood suddenly deciding that the element of surprise would be his best bet. He swung as hard as he could with the chair, dismayed when the legs cracked in half and broke off in his hands. The man grinned widely as he saw James and lunged for him. James stumbled backwards, falling hard. His ribs screamed in pain and he narrowly rolled out of the way as the man came crashing down after him. Scrambling to his feet he booked it towards the door, but felt an iron grip snag his left leg and bring him back down. Kicking out with his right, James felt his boot connect with bone and he winced as the pain radiated up his side. He had kicked the man in the face but it seemed to have had no effect as the man grabbed his left knee and pulled him closer. James’ hands scrabbled across the floor reaching for something, anything to help him in his fight. His hands grasped onto something metal and solid and he swung it as hard as he could. The object connected solidly with skull and the man recoiled with a grunt. In that moment James swung again and again, beating the object into the man’s skull with as much force as he could muster. When he stopped out of exhaustion he saw that his attacker’s head had been reduced to a bloody mess. James dropped the object which he saw had been the flashlight Mackie was using earlier and desperately kicked the limp body of the man off of him. Covered in blood and sweat, James stood with difficulty, leaning heavily on the couch. He knew he had to find Melly, but he had no idea where she had gone to or if she had left of her own volition. With his hands bound like this and his body in less than adequate shape, he wouldn’t make it far without a weapon. Mackie had said that he had a darker past, although James didn’t know what that meant. James racked his brain and thought for the last place he’d hide a weapon. He found his feet taking him to the girl’s bedroom. Rifling under the stuffed animals lining the bed and all the other places he could think, he came up empty handed. His eyes drifted around the room. Although Mackie hadn’t been straightforward with anything, the room couldn’t lie. Whoever had been here at one time, had been treated well. James sat down on the edge of the bed, his fingers absentmindedly playing with the fringe of the comforter. As a father he understood the responsibilities of raising a child. With these responsibilities came worry for their safety. His only thoughts were on getting to Melly and protecting her. Why had Mackie been so tight-lipped about his daughter? James stood up and walked over to the dresser. He hadn’t seen it before in the nighttime, but now he saw a large photo frame sitting serenely on top, surrounded by jewelry. The photo frame contained what remained of a picture of a girl. The top half of the picture had strangely been ripped out. Picking the photo frame up James was startled at the weight. His fingers skimmed the back and he unlatched the hook. A small Sig fell onto the dresser and James stared at it in disbelief. In his daughter’s room? James then berated himself as he had thought to look here in the first place. He picked up the gun and checked the magazine. 6 rounds, none in the chamber. James looked around hurriedly for ammunition but found none. Stepping outside, James kept his eyes out for any movement. The grass had been beaten down by footsteps but there were multiple pairs and James didn’t know which ones to follow. Taking a moment to get his bearings, James decided he’d head towards Holly Glen. It was all Melly knew, and he could only hope that she would return there first. If not, Holly Glen would be the closest place where he could gather resources to help him locate her. He also had no doubt the military would be there, and they could get the blasted handcuffs off. A plan in mind, he cautiously made his way towards the outskirts of town.
