    Inferno

We stood in shock. Not just from the dead man's final words, but from the whole experience.

My hand, now back to normal, tingle slightly. I stare at it in wonder.

"Let me try my power!" An excited voice says from the back. An Indian accent is immediately recognizable. Earthquake, as she called herself, stands arms clutched to her chest and eyes closed. She sways to the side slightly and breaths gently, concentrating. We all watch her, intently at first then simply bored.

Aquarius mutters something that sounds like it could be a British swear word and goes to sit down on one of the four mattresses spaced around the room.
Before he can settle in though, the ground begins to shake. Almost unnoticeable at first but soon the whole room is being thrown around!
The large glass chandelier swings dangerously and the silver chain holding it to the ceiling starts to crumble at the top. A loud "CRACK!" sounds as one link begins to break under the pressure.
"Parar!" I shout at Earthquake. She looks shocked and upset.
    "What?!" She yells back.
    "Par- never mind, Stop it!"
    "I can't!"

The chain gives off one last loud clink, then the chandelier is released, right towards us! I quickly grab the person closest to me, which happens to be Aquarius, and we hurl ourselves to the side just in time. As the fixture hits the ground it shatters, tiny glass shards fly in every direction, creating a beautiful and dangerous rainbow affect. One slices my arm open deeply and scarlet blood pours out. If one shard can do that, what can the other million do together?
I stand and time seems to slow. My eyes burn, and even though I can't see it, I feel the flames envelope them. I thrust out my hand and slowly turn. All at once the glass daggers melt, the molten liquid drops onto the floor and cools. Finally the room stops rumbling and I fall to the ground, exhausted.
"Well, that was quite the adventure!" A voice booms from a loudspeaker on the wall.
    Christ, what now!?

  4. Bump!:) I love this!

  5. Earthquake's POV

Earth. That was my element. I now realised that a tiny part of me always knew.

"Well, that was quite the adventure now wasn't it."

The voice came from a loudspeaker that stood above my head.

"W..who are you?" I asked, not expecting an answer but it came.

"Well, that would be telling now wouldn't it. Let's just say I'm the boss"

"So Mr Boss man, why exactly are we here?"

"That's for me to know, does everyone know what their element is?"

"Um I don't," said cyclone sheepishly.

"There's only one way to find out..."

  6. Sorry for the shortness

  7. BUMP!!

  8. Whoops, didn't realize that it was my turn sorry writing now!

  9.  Cyclone 

"Ok, here goes nothing!" I close my eyes and concentrate, just like Earthquake had previously. The air feels slightly colder and a soft breeze caresses my cheek. Just as I feel it starting to pick up into full-on wind, hands grab my shoulders and shake me out of the daze.

I open my eyes and am staring directly into Aquarius's. He steps back into line with Inferno before speaking. "I don't think that this is the best course of action, mate."
"Yeah, we don't really want to repeat that, do we?" Inferno points to the broken chandelier and waves her hand around the whole room. "You do not need to be Sherlock Holmes to figure this one out; your name!"
"Cyclone?" I ask not catching on.
"And Cyclone is another word for?" She says this slowly with a very condescending edge. I frown, still in the dark. "I don't know!" I shout frustrated. She rolls her eyes.
"Hurricane, tornado, storm or most common; wind. Jeez, and I dropped out of school. No wait what? Never mind, my memory's going, anyways just think. Cyclone, wind. Plus what is the only element left?"
"So I can control the wind, and you had figured that our earlier so that's why you stopped me, you didn't want a full-blown tornado centered in the room."
    "Bingo." Aquarius pipes in.

"Aww, I was waiting for a show." The loud speaker whines. A wicked laugh follows. "Now that you have figured out your powers, I need you to do a job for me."
    "What?" I ask.
"It's for the good of the world. Details will be sent soon but for now, a challenge."
"A chall-" I am cut off by a shrill scream.

"Ooh, looks as though its started! Good luck! You'll need it." With that the speaker goes silent.

The scream sounds again. It's close, almost like its in the same room… I look behind me.
    "Inferno!"

Sorry, kinda short but hopefully ok. Thx for reading!

  10. Aquarius's POV

"HELP!" yelled Inferno from the back of the room. I swiveled around and I saw a huge hand protruding from the ground, made out of fire, trying to grab Inferno. It swayed around her, trapping her. Her face was red and I could make out her eyes sparkling with fear, staring at the hand in horror.

I raced towards the hand, Earthquake and Cyclone a few paces behind me. I started chucking random objects at the hand, in hope that it would die down but it remained firm.

"Use your element genius!" shrieked Inferno in desperation. For a second my mind went completely blank but then I recalled action films that I had seen before where they point their hands at the monster and it died.

I raised my hands and pointed it at the hand but nothing came out. I could hear Inferno panting, the hand was closing in, I didn't have much time.

This time, I closed my eyes and imagined water coming out of my hands, spraying it at the giant hand. I opened my eyes and to my delight I saw water gushing out of my bare hands.

However, as soon as the water came into contact with the hand, it put out only a minuscule amount of the fire. What was wrong with me? Anger bubbled up inside of me, frustration at myself more than anyone else.

"Wait, I think I know what to do!" exclaimed Cyclone. "I think we should attack the hand thing at the same time, combining our elements!"

"Yeah I think Americano over there might be right but you might want to hurry up, I'm kinda nearly about to get burned alive by a giant hand over here!"

All three of us stood side by side as we let our elements go, I felt oddly at peace with the world in that moment, I felt the water move up my arm and out, the soothing feeling of power over myself."

I looked up at the hand to see nothing there but Inferno, who looked as pale as a sheet.

"I see you've passed the first challenge..."

  11. Sorry for the wait I just haven't had time, hope its worth it!
    Inferno

My skin burns. I look at the marks on it and see that they don't appear to be made from the flaming hand. No, the hand wasn't harming me. It was the water.

Just as everyone was looking at the speaker I had seen a large wave coming directly at me, something inside made me not want to touch it or even be near it. Almost in protection the hand had erupted in front, grabbed and lifted me then just before I screamed it evaporated the water.

"Your burns look bad. Here can I help?" Aquarius asks, looking very concerned.
"No, you've done enough." I retort.
    "Sorry?"
"These," I point to the blisters on my arms. "Are where you hit me. Seems that water and fire don't exactly mix." He steps back and looks shocked.
    "I-I did that?"
"Yup the hand was trying to protect me. I guess I can't control my powers as well as I thought."

"Are you alright?" Earthquake runs around the fallen chandelier and crouches beside me.
    "Yeah, I'm good."
"Hopefully another "challenge" doesn't come our way for a while."
    I laugh.
    "Yup."

"Um, guys? I think it might be too late for that…" Cyclone shouts over.
We all turn to look at what he's referring to.

We gasp in surprise. It's like nothing I've ever seen before. Not like I can remember anything though. I can't describe it. Almost a golden light, a beautiful light. It attracts us towards it when suddenly it turns black. Pitch black.

I blink and shake my head to come out of the daze, only to see Cyclone, Aquarius and Earthquake still shuffling towards the ominous glow.

"Stop! Arrêter! Parar! остановить! Stopio!" I stop and a confused look crosses my face. "Since when can I speak French, Russian and Welsh? Huh." I then turn back to my new found friends. Seeing as my shouting, no matter what language, isn't working I run up and pull them back.

The fight me as I wrestle them away from the light. I snap my fingers in their faces and shake their shoulders. Suddenly a small flame flickers to life on my hand, sensing an opportunity I wave it in front of Cyclone. He immediately jerks his head to the side and regains true consciousness.

"Woah, what-what was that?" I laugh relieved and go to the rest of the group. Eventually we are back and fine, but even more questions are on our lips than before.
"I guess that this person is intent on killing us." Earthquake declares.
"Or," Aquarius starts, "he just likes to see us 'dance'."
