Where Dimitri takes us surprises me. "This is a gas station." "Yep." "Why are we here?" "We're waiting." He states simply. We're still in the city, and the morning air is cool against my skin as I roll my window down. I stare at the seemingly innocent gas station, wondering, that if I ran, would I make it inside? Probably not. Dimitri was probably faster than me. I look at the wayward Pureblood. He's built like a green bean, long and skinny. He's probably got some sort of muscle mass, but not much. Spindly arms and legs with fingers to match. Maybe, I could get away, if I did something to him first. He looks at me, nervous excitement sparkling in his eyes. My stomach drops. I take up examining his face to calm my own nerves. Brown hair and hazel eyes with green in them, he's one of the plainest looking ones, next to Darren. Most of them have crazy hair and eyes, and these two are normal. Well, almost normal. my mind adds as I stare at his long white fangs. Though, they were both terribly good looking, for normal. "She's here!" Dimitri practically squeaks. A very nice sports car pulls up to the dumpy little gas station. The woman who walks out seems to own the world. These good looking people are bothering me. Totally unrealistic. My mind mutters, spiteful of her beauty, but in reality, she wasn't that good looking. She carried herself with an air of elegance and beauty, which led the mind to think she was beautiful. And she was, and as Dimitri's eyes lit up, I knew he did too. "I am the president of the Western postmortem branch of the world." "Postmortem?" "Latin for after death." "Oh...so that's us?" "That's you." "Oh. Why are you here?" "You are an unauthorized clan. You must disband immediately." I stare in horror at the woman. "And you..." She looks at Dimitri, "you will have to die." "Yay!" Dimitri claps his hands.
Woah! This story is amazing. I got confused a couple of times. Thinking Dimitri was a girl and Chase a guy. x) I got it now. Blump.
"Unauthorized clan? Why does Dimitri have to die?" I choke out, too shocked for complete thought. Why isn't Darren here? Darren's always here. This is what I wonder as the horrid woman smiles a strangely infectious smile. "Yes, unauthorized. And Purebloods are outlawed." She has a glint in her eye as she looks at Dimitri. "They put regular people in danger. You all put normal human beings in danger. Therefor, you will be ultimately eliminated. You are one of the few groups that evaded capture...till now." She smiles that smile that creeps me out monumentally. Dimitri seems to have lost himself as he smiles at her wider. "Yes. Chase will be safe now." He smiles, "She will." The woman promises, yet her eyes say something else. All I can think about is Darren. What will happen to him? Why is this happening to us? Why isn't he here? DARREN. my mind screams, and I don't understand why I feel so dependent, why everything in me screams for his presence. What about Ben? a small, insignificant voice whispers across my mind. No! It has to be Darren! Why? Tires screech. Darren jumps out of a car that isn't his, with bed head and eyes filled with raw emotion. He looks like he just jumped out of bed. I feel the urge to either laugh or cry, I don't know which. "They can both find each other...everywhere. Especially when someone is screaming in your head to get there." He grimaces and rubs his temple. "Oh..." The woman looks at him, "You're a good looking one, aren't you?" I blink. Darren blinks. Dimitri starts chewing in his hand. "What did you do to Dimitri?" "Nothing, nothing at all. Just reverted him to his natural state." "I like cheese." "I think she removed half of his brain in the matter of seconds." I shake my head. I look back at the gas station, which is now conveniently empty. "I think I might keep him." She mutters as she examines Darren's face. "Um..." Darren inches backwards. "You were talking about killing all of us." "He'd be a good boy toy. Shame. I guess you have to die too."

"...Shame." Dimitri repeats, "Not really. Chase will be safe, and she will love me without him." He becomes serious, "She doesn't love me because of you, you know. She loves you, a lot." Darren blinks, looking shocked, and perhaps a little smug. It hurts a little, deep, deep in my psyche in such a way that I feel a pang in my chest and his look changes. Dimitri frowns, "Forget it. She's mine." He growls, looking murderous. "Whatever, Dracula." Darren says carelessly, then winces, and looks at me. "I'm not." He says simply. How did he know? I wonder, then realize, That's a stupid question. I tell myself and he smiles. "You seem very happy for about to die." The woman says cockily, a smug smile on her face. "I'm not going to die." Darren says, "You couldn't get away with it, not in broad daylight. And I'm pretty sure I can overpower you." Her smile splits her face. "Can you, now? Dimitri, be a dear..." Dimitri punches Darren in the face. "What did you do to him?" Darren asks, holding his nose. "Some sort of mind control." "That sounds unrealistic." He grumbles, trying to staunch the blood oozing from his nostrils. "We're ****ing vampires. That sounds unrealistic to you?" I say, incredulous. Darren tilts his head, pondering. "I suppose not." He concurs, and the woman looks at us both, exasperated. "This is not how it's supposed to go." "Was Dimitri supposed to knock me out in one hit?" Darren scoffs nasally as he successfully stops snorting out blood. "Well..." "You underestimate me." He says, faux hurt in his voice, as he smiles his charming smile. "Purebloods are always so strong..." Her brow furrows as she pulls out a gun. "See, had you brought that out initially, you could've saved some time." Darren says cheerfully. "You're right." She turns the pistol towards me, "Much faster."
