  8. " Focus on the mission "
    Chapter three

Somewhere between settling back in to the soft white bed and the nurse returning with more medicine. She must have dozed off. Strange how she could allow herself to sleep when she had a mission to complete. The fate of heaven was resting on her shoulders.

Light green eyes fluttered open, slowly regaining clear vision. A yawn escaped her as she forces herself to sit up in bed. The dull pain in her stomach a reminder of the fatal mistake she made earlier. She turned her head to the side. Curiously looking for the nurse that had been taking care of her.

To her disappointment she was no where to be found. A hand pressed to her forehead, checking her body temperature. The hand was cool and so soft, a refreshing change to the heat she felt. A voice began to speak up next to her bedside. Her head turned to greet the stranger with wide innocent eyes.

The nurse frowned as she rechecked her temperature again. Obvious concern showing in her tired brown eyes, " Your fever has gone down somewhat. But we will keep you overnight for further observation. What is your name dear? We barely got any information out of the young man who dropped you off here. Do you live around here? Perhaps we should call your parents? They must be worried sick about you. ", She said softly as if speaking to a child.

A gasp left her, " H-he left?! B-b-but I need him! ", She exclaimed in surprise, suddenly shifting to one side of the bed while moving her legs off the bed in a hurry.

The nurse dropped her clipboard, allowing it to clatter to the floor. Her quickened step in pace slowing down only when she reached the young girl. Her hands forced her back in to bed. Refusing any arguments from her with a shake of her head.

Figuring that she had put the girl through enough. She pulled the covers back over her, tucking it gently under her chin, " I'm sorry honey, I shouldn't have overwhelmed you. Rest now, I will come back alittle later. It'll do you no good to stress. Please, sleep now. ", She murmured softly to the girl, picking her clipboard off the stark white tiled floor.

With a small frown on her lips, the nurse was gone.

Misuki brought her hands to her face. Tears springing to life in her saddened eyes. A muffled sobbed came after, followed by soft wails. She let everyone down, couldn't even keep track of the person she came looking for. How would she explain herself now?

Curling up on her side, one hand cradling her face. She stared at the window, tears streaming down her face in a never ending river to meet beneath her chin. She couldn't just give up yet. Not when she had been so close. Nor could she reveal her true identity to anyone, especially not to those currently taking care of her.

Forcing herself out of bed, she stumbled on wobbly legs and grabbed onto the bed for support. She had to make an escape while she still had time. The nurse would be back soon just like she said she would. Taking a quick glance at herself, her nose wrinkled up in distaste.

Thin blue material made into a somewhat night gown looking thing, had covered her form. It stopped two inches above her ankles, and tied at the back of the neck. Her eyes searched every corner of the room before she finally found her dress. Cleaned of dirt smudges, and ironed out.

A look of relief on her face, her hands grabbed the material from the end of the bed. Pressing the material to her nose. She caught the scent of lavender on it. These people were truly kind. Some how she would repay their kindness.

Untying the hospital gown, she slipped out of it and got into her dress. A pair of white slippers sat against the wall by the door. She made her way over, sliding one on each foot. Soft yet sturdy, perhaps they wouldn't mind if she kept them. Turning on her heel and facing the bed. She made quick work of placing the sheets and pillow back in proper order.

Her heart thudded loudly in her chest as she crossed the room to the window. Checking for any mechanism that would prevent it from opening. The locks were pushed open, and the window slid upwards enough for her to get out. She climbed out onto the window sill and nearly tumbled off onto the slanted roof.

It was a great distance from the ground for a human, but she wasn't human. She closed her eyes, concentrating hard on the core of her powers. Her body disappeared from sight, replaced by a tiny blue orb. It shifted towards the side and then bolted away from the window. Journeying the city street's for the one she lost.
