Hello, I am going to be talking to you all today about.. Trees.. Trees? What the hell kind of tree saves money? Well.. This method of planting trees saves money. Let us make a simple investment.. Twenty to fifty dollars. Buying a slightly larger tree allows you to cover more area, and you will see what I mean by this. Buying a tree, and planting it next to your window or door does many things: •it keeps the sun from heating up your house too much by providing shade, so that your electric bill goes down. •it keeps the wind chill factor a little lower during the winter so that you are not spending so much on heat. •a recent study shows that, for some reason, (if anyone can tell me why, I'd appreciate it), if there is a tree visible from a window, it helps the recovery from various surgeries and injuries. •the property value of your home, with trees, will be higher than those without them. •trees improve air quality •trees decrease storm runoff, and help provide nutrients for other plants, and grass. •trees take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen. Costs of a tree: pest control, pruning it, may need attention, irrigation, planting.. (Actually all of this can be done by yourself at a MUCH cheaper price.) Cons: Trees may prove costly if struck by lightening, or they may fall into vulnerable structures such as windows, doors, power lines, cars, houses, or even people depending on how lucky you are. Normally, on average, the annual revenue of an urban tree will save the average person about $525 dollars a year if placed correctly. Let's say you plant ten trees correctly in a school district.. 525 dollars a year, per urban tree. How much money will the school district save in ten years? Let us do the math. 525x10=5,250 5250x10=52,500. Fifty-two thousand, five hundred dollars is saved in ten years, because you decided to participate in the beautification of your school district or household. I'm not saying all results will be the same because everyone uses their air conditioning, heater, and everyone places their trees differently, but think about it. You are doing the world and yourself a service by planting more trees and making the world green. As well as your net-worth. I actually only listened to a brief conversation regarding the statistics (525 dollars a year) by two environmental scientists, one from our school and another from a leading conservation club. I decided I would post this to share some insight on things that you possibly can do to clean up our world, as well as line your pockets. A small investment, for a big change. I'm not some hippy, I'm just a high-schooler taking a college-level science course. Figured you all would be interested in what I am learning, so here you are. I personally did a cost-benefit analysis, and the benefits definitely outweigh the costs, so this method is definitely CJS-approved. Hope you enjoyed, -CJS
Demonic, this is actually a study habit of mine. I make them for English, science, government, and ROTC.
Wow I never heard about the "visible tree helps with recovering" I have to look into that. Well done! I envy the fact that you have this AP class. Not fair (NERD)
The money you save, you could easily buy another one, if for some reason you move, seasons change, or whatever. There are separate types of trees, but I wanted to get across the economical portion of planting trees, and not go into specifics.. This thread is actually quite shorter than my other ones.
This is really neat. I actually didn't think about trees saving money before. Also, when I was younger, I wanted my name to be changed to Tree because it was shorter,_,
I think you'd enjoy reading one of my threads.. I like to think they're informative, because it is stuff I'm studying.
