Trying something new here, a one-shot. Heads up, I've never done this before, but there's a first time for everything! This is kinda dark. I guess I was in a dark mood. Anyways, here it is: Blossoming Stain I rock back and forth on the bathroom floor, mumbling incomprehensible syllables to myself in vain hope that it will bring slight comfort to my tortured mind. I cannot bring myself to look once more into the porcelain bathtub. Drops of blood bead on my face and drip off my nose, my chin, my cheek bones. It pours out of my eyes as scarlet tears. I look down at my shaking hands unable to control them. Both stained. Covered. I rub at them but it won't come off. So much blood. Too much blood. Who knew he would bleed so much? My gaze turns to the dusty, old mirror. Cuts, scratches and scrapes litter my pale face. I hesitantly reach out my hand to touch the surface. The mirror shatters, little glass shards fly into my face, digging into my flesh, piercing my eyes. My sight floods with red. The colour of death, the colour of blood, my torment. Who knew? Who would have known? So much blood. A final wave of pain, then blackness. I jerk up from my pillow. The pain and shock from the dream still fresh in my mind. My husband lies still beside me. Red blossoms from under the blanket covering his body. A small knife sits on my bedside table. It glimmers in the light of my side lamp. I lay back down. "Just a nightmare." I kiss his cold cheek, then fall back into a deep slumber once more.
