Do You Really Know Me?

  1. I looked him in the eyes. Once filled with loving, they were cold and hard. He laughed, a cruel, disgusted laugh. "We're over, Sara. Over. I never even loved you in the first place. I can't believe you'd be so stupid. Loser."

I stared after him as he turned back to his friends, laughing at the cruel things they were saying about me. Suddenly, the tears began to fall. So did I. Slumped on the ground, all the different types of laughter becoming one piercing sound. The students faces swirled before be, slowly fading to black.

I woke up, panting, covered in sweat. "Just a dream. It was just a dream. It won't happen again." I told myself, trying to believe what I had said. The truth was, I had been having the same dream nearly every night, the past seven years.

It was a flashback of that fateful day in high school, when I discovered that Tyler Davis was only dating me so he could whisper about me, spread rumours and see what it was like to date the "loser", the "weird girl", the one who nobody cared about. I loved that boy, and from that day forward, I vowed never to trust a man again. And I hadn't broken that vow. Nothing or nobody was going to make me break it without a fight.

  6. Walking into my favourite café, a handsome man caught my eye. He was about twenty years old, with light brown hair and bright, kind blue eyes. "Hi," he said, taking a seat beside me. "Hi," I repeated, completely dropping my vow. I had fallen in love again.

Soon, David and I became a couple. We went through highs and lows, but it just made us stronger than ever. One night, David cooked me my favourite meal, lasagne. One minute, we were eating and chatting, the next he was down on one knee. I watched his lips form the words "Will you be my wife?" and heard someone screaming "Yes!" then realising it was me that was screaming.

We then went on to have two beautiful sons, Andrew and Craig.

Andrew was fifteen when I met him. The second Jamie came bounding in the door, I knew I would like him.

We shared the same interests and the same whacky sense of humour. He was twenty years my junior and Andrew's best friend, but I counted him as my best friend now too. I could tell Jamie everything, and he could too.

I never realised how much he meant to me until disaster struck.

An update! Yay! Sorry if it's rubbish but I'm trying to get into the plot and introduce the main characters.

  9. NO I DON'T KNOW YOU!!!! Do you know me? Lol it's a good book!

  10. It was a cold, dark night when we kissed goodbye. He said "See you soon honey," pulling on his boots and opening the oak door. Immediately, a gust of cold air sprinkled with snow entered the warm, cosy house. I shivered.

"Love you" I smiled, kissing him on the cheek. He smiled back. "Dad! Are you going to work now?" a voice called. We turned around to see Andrew leaning on the door frame, with Jamie close behind. "Yes, son" David replied reluctantly. "Oh" Andrew replied.

"Keep safe, sweetie, it's dangerous out there" I whispered to David, giving him another kiss for good measure. "I know. I'll be home before you know it!" he laughed, stepping outside and shutting the door behind him. Then he was gone.

It was a few hours later when I heard the knock on the door. Andrew and Jamie were upstairs doing whatever, and Craig was staying with a friend. When I opened the heavy door, nothing could have prepared me for what happened next.

Two policemen stood at the door, looking smart in their uniforms. One raised his gaze from the ground and looked at me. "Excuse me, madam, may I ask you a few questions?"

"Yes, of course" I managed to get out. "Were you the wife of David Quinn?" I nodded. What did they mean 'were'? "I'm very sorry to say that he has been in an accident" I stared at him, dumbfounded.

"He lost control of his vehicle driving over black ice. He was found dead at the scene." My legs collapsed beneath me and I fell to the floor, shaking with sobs. The officers exchanged a look, then lifted me up and carried me into the house, setting me down on the sofa.

Andrew appeared at the door, with Jamie by his side, worried looks on both their faces. An officer took them outside to tell them the terrible news. In between my sobs, I could hear matching ones from outside the room. I had to go comfort my baby boy. He was all I had left.

The three of us sat together on the sofa, Andrew, Jamie and I, just sitting, quietly, saying nothing, each in our own thoughts. Suddenly I felt a hand clasp mine, rubbing my palm with their thumb. I looked up, and Jamie said "It'll be alright, you'll see". That was just before I crumpled up crying on his shoulder.

  11. Long, nonsensical update!! Basically, I've killed off David and Craig isn't at home, just to hurry up getting to the point. I think you can already guess what this story is about. It has a meaningless title, really.
