Anyone know the difference. I realize I've been having problems in this forum because I present poorly thought-out suggestions and end up defending my argument while the other parties have no concept of the conduct of debating.
Debating- Verb: 1. Argue about (a subject), esp. in a formal manner. 2. Consider a possible course of action in one's mind before reaching a decision. Arguing- Verb: 1. Give reasons or cite evidence in support of an idea, action, or theory, typically with the aim of persuading others to share one's view. 2. Persuade someone to do or not to do (something) by giving reasons: "I tried to argue him out of it".
Nobody debates anymore. Everyone has this dumb "I'm always right" type pride thing that blinds them. It's like, even if you have a better idea than me, I can't admit that... Cause then... Then I'd look wrong about whatever MY idea was. And we just can't have that cause we all know that making me look wrong is a personal attack on my character!!(Sarcasm there, although its true for some people) Just an example of how I've noticed people acting. It seems we can't just throw ideas or points out there without someone taking offense to THEIR own ideas and points if we don't share their views equally. Nobody is open minded anymore. And that sucks. Anywho, that's my two cents.
I agree I have pride and ego as well. I find I am constantly trying to justify myself or my ideas. I guess acceptance of one's ideas equate acceptance of your being. I have to watch it and be aware my ego doesn't get in the way of clear and reasonable or logical thinking. I can admit my ideas aren't always right or good.

It's fine sharing an opinion, completely different hating on people's sexuality (used as an example, not to start more arguments) glad you are coming to realise you're mistakes and hope you can change to be a better forumer happy foruming
