off topic rant about the government..

  1. Seeing as how people from all over the world play this game, I would just like to know.
How long do you have to be living with a significant other to be considered common law?

Apparently in Canada, or at least Saskatchewan, the answer is 3 months.

I got that lovely kick in the butt today when trying to apply for social assistance. But was ever so nicely told that my boyfriend has to support me.. (which makes him broke and stressed out) Before you call me useless for not working, or a sponge or something please take into account that I have a digestive disease that is trying to be sorted out and physically can not be on my feet for more then an hour.

    /end rant.

  2. Social assistance?
This is a small amount of info to go by.

  3. You should check up laws. You will easily find something about every individuals having the rights to live by themselves and to take their own decisions when they are considered as adults.

  4. CJS, I agree it is a very broad term to go by. But to know more about what kind I would qualify for, ( unemployment insurance, welfare, disability..etc) I would need an appointment with a social worker. But seeing as how the government views me as married, I don't even qualify for an appointment because they see it as, my "spouse" should support me.

Slender, I honestly have no idea what that was supposed to say or mean. I don't need to read up on laws, if that's what you were trying to get across..
I have done my homework on this subject, and to be honest I don't want your opinion as I have seen your "great" rants on other forums.

My original question was in what time frame in your country, state, province.. etc, do the government consider you to be common law.

  5. "Does the government consider you to be a common law?" is the question..

Well I don't even understand that....

  6. " Prior to 1968, couples could enter into a common law marriage in Florida and have all the rights and responsibilities that come with a state-licensed marriage. However, with the passage of section 741.211 of the Florida Statutes, couples could no longer enter into common law marriages in Florida. The current iteration of section 741.211 reads as follows:

Common-law marriages void.—No common-law marriage entered into after January 1, 1968, shall be valid, except that nothing contained in this section shall affect any marriage which, though otherwise defective, was entered into by the party asserting such marriage in good faith and in substantial compliance with this chapter. " (Yahoo)

    Ripped right from the site.

  7. Ok now I'll see what the go is in australia

  8. No such thing as common law in Florida? Maybe I should move there

  9. Muffin, where arth thou news!?

  10. I'm so freakn sick of my hard earned money getting taxed the shit out of and given away to people who don't wanna work! the fact that u are perfectly able to play this game tells me that if u wanted to bad enough u could get a job! just get a desk job and not a physical job... as a small employer in Canada I know their are many good paying jobs for the taking, so stop trying to get my money for free and get a job!

  11. Honey before you start spewing the crap from your mouth at me, remember that you know NO facts about me. I am physically unable to work, was given orders from the doctor to be on BED rest until my weight gets back to a healthy state.

Why is my weight dropped so badly? I have COLON CANCER. And why can I not even get a desk job? Maybe because purely walking around my small apartment is more physical activity then a 90 pound, 5'5girl should be doing.

Oh and I'm sorry for playing pimd whilst I lay in bed all day. I guess us sick kids are not allowed to have any kind or form of fun. So next time, when you accuse someone of being lazy, and stealing your "hard earned money" maybe u should realize that I did not choose this, but assistance so I'm not a HOMELESS sick person would be rad.

    Hater.

  12. If you disabled then you can get disability assistance. It's not much but will pay the bills. Rates vary province to province.
Common Law in Ontario is 6 months.
    Hope this helps.

  13. I think it's 6 months in Australia but I'm most likely wrong lol

  14. and how does being able to play pimd qualify you to be able to work physically that's ridiculous btw I'm not thrilled about paying tax either but I'm more than happy too when I know it's going to someone who needs it not a smack head etc

  15. I do not qualify for any help, which includes disability. They believe that when you live with a significant other that they have the responsibility to support you...

And thank you a51. You honestly made me smile. <3
