Omg update! Finally •••••••••••••••••• "Where have you been, Roselyn?" A voice rang out in the darkness, a dull flame from a candle flickering the only source of light. Roselyn gave a gasp of surprise. "Answer me, Roselyn. Where have you been?" "I was out, Mother. You should not have waited for me to return." Her mother stood up and walked to the spot infront of her. Too quick for the princess to react, a hard slap came down across her cheek. "Who is he?" She demanded. "Who. Is. He?" "Stefen Smyth. I met him at the ball." As soon as she'd said his name, she wished she hadn't. Her mother would surely find out who he was. He'd be locked up in the dungeon before daylight. He'd be dead within a few days. "Tell me who he really is, Roselyn. There is no one in London with that name. Definitely no one who would have been invited to my ball." This puzzled her. Surely he hadn't lied to her. Why would he? He had to have been invited to the ball by that name. "Roselyn! Tell me his name, tart!" She flinched at the name her mother had called her. She had only ever used that to describe the women who came out at night. She didn't answer, only walked off in the direction of her bedroom. She locked the door behind her, sunk down to the floor, and cried until there were no tears left to be shed. "My mother said that he was not invited to the ball. She had no recollection of a man called Stephen Smyth." Roselyn said this as she walked through the town with her companion, a young girl called Elizabeth Spence. "Maybe he snuck in just to meet you, my Lady. You are a beauty, a prize he has claimed. Or, he was simply being dishonest with you because he is scum and he did not want you to find out." The girl said. "I should have your tongue ripped from your mouth!" Roselyn gasped. "But of course, who would I go to then when I needed to escape from my mother?" "Exactly. You must introduce us one day, I loathe not knowing whom you have become familiar with." "In time, Miss Spence. I must first know him better. I understand you have a reputation for stealing ones suitors." Roselyn smirked at her friends expression. A small smile then played at Elizabeths mouth. She had a mocking tone to her voice when she spoke her next words, "that is quite absurd, my Lady. You know I would never!" "You are truly terrible, Miss Spence." Roselyn said, looping her arm through her friends. "I think I shall see him tonight. I miss him already." •••••••••••••••••• Omg hope you like it!
