First, I definitely WILL continue Different. I won't let the 100 plus pages go to waste. Second, The Echoing Silence is under some kind of hiatus. Maybe, maybe not. There is a possibility I will make it an actual book (that would be so awesome asdfghjkl) instead of just a fan Fic. Third, I Think I Love You...well, let's just say I'm stuck. I will probably be continuing it because, like Different, I worked really hard on it. But for now, I want a fresh start. Something new. So here I am. <><><><><><><><> The slow, steady breaths of the still woman echoed throughout the room, and there was nothing but silence. Her eyes were a glassy white, and they struggled to stay open. Parched lips and hallow cheeks, the woman looked like she had been laying there, with no food or water, for quite sometime. The vivid color of red trickled from her nose, and it seemed that the bone was broken. Something dark had happened here... Something unspeakable had occurred... Only one so brave will be able to utter their names. Only one so gallant and fearless will be able to challenge them in front of millions. The Unspeakables. <><><><><><><><>
Screw it, I'm updating. <><><><><><> The world we live in is no longer the world we have come to know. Centuries have passed, and our world has been transformed into something distant, unrecognizable. Gray buildings stretched out across the teenager, and she clutched her umbrella tighter, as if it would fly away any moment. Beep, went her watch, and she glanced down to see that it was glowing red, signaling urgency. She swore under her breath and proceeded to walk faster towards her destination. People moved with her, across her, beside her, as if everyone was in sync with each other. Dusk was starting to settle, which made the girl swear even more, pacing as fast as she could without drawing attention to herself. The paper bag swung loosely on her thin wrist, and she breathed a sigh of relief when she saw the small metal house from a distance. A scream went off behind her, and fear gripped her heart. It was starting. No one was around her now, so she blasted into a full run, her legs trained enough to dodge rocks as her sneakers crunched against the dirt and dry leaves. Her body slammed into the door, and she flung it open with a flick of her arm. Shutting it behind her, she leaned against it, panting heavily. "Rani! We've been so worried!" a voice panicked, and the perspiring girl gave the stout woman rushing to her a lopsided grin. "I've got some food," she held out the paper bag. A tall frail woman emerged, and drifted towards her, "That's splendid, Esperanza." "She could've gotten herself killed!" the first woman's voice rose an octave higher, "We don't know what's out there! Where she's been! Don't you have a watch, eh, Rani? Someone could've kidnapped you! The Unspeakab-" "Enough!" the tall woman said abruptly, and both of the beings jumped. A silence hung, where everyone was waiting for her to speak again. The woman sighed, and composed herself, "Enough," she said in a more quiet voice, but still firmly, "The important thing is that Rani is back, safe and sound, aren't you Rani?" Rani gaped at her mother, and nodded fervently. "Now that that's over and done, let's see what you collected, shall we?" she held out her hand, to which Rani deposited the bag. Ever so gracefully, the woman shuffled through it's contents, murmuring to herself. "Here, Eloise," she said at last, throwing a piece of vegetable to the stout woman. Eloise caught it uneasily; it was a potato. "Use the carrots from last week to make some stew. Kill one of William's chickens to finish it up," she barked orders, and Eloise nodded and rushed off. All alone now, the woman turned to her daughter, who was staring at her feet in silence. "Esperanza," her mother said, sighing, "Look up to me." Slowly, the girl lifted her head and stared at the blue orbs of her mother, which she had inherited. "You are special, I hope you know that," she whispered. Rani gulped back some tears, and did her best to hold her gaze. "Someday, Essie, you will do great things. Not only for the country, but for our family," her mother gave her a faint smile, and a tear escaped Rani. No one ever called her Essie, except for her father. "I....I know things are tough now...with the Xevias around, but we...we are going to keep fighting..." she said, uncomfortably, as if muttering the Unspeakbles alias was a crime. Rani held her breath, as she listened inattentively to her mother. "I love you, Rani, don't ever forget that." she smiled, and Rani nodded before she watched her mother make her way to the kitchen. Then the only sound was Eloise murdering the chicken. <><><><><> Short! But tell me what you think!
