I'm having a bad case of writers block. I can't seem to come up with a unique book theme/plot.. Any ideas? I want it to be a little bit romantic, mystery, and action book.
Well Do you know what type of setting you would like? Or weather or not you want supernatural and fantasy?
Hmm.... You know, most stories are inspired by real life events, especially fiction. Even if you don't know it, you are drawing the source of your idea's off something else, but because of your personal touch, you never can tell that you took it from somewhere else. To battle writer's block, I usually read new stories or watch new shows. Anything to get fresh idea's flowing through my brain. In any case, if you want to get back to writing action, romance, or mystery, try making all three! An action story that is rolled around a mystery and includes a little sweet romance mixed in. You never really have writer's block, all the ideas people can come up with are usually mimicking others. But when you come up with a brand new story no one's thought of, even when it includes ideas from another story, it usually become a wonderful read. Whenever I have writer's block, I know that I won't be able to write so I go listen to music or read. That relaxes me and sometimes gives me inspiration. Usually if I'm thinking of an idea for a story, I decide what genre I want it to be, and I decide the main character/s.(Is it a girl? A boy? Two main characters? Five main characters?) When I'm deciding the genre, I get very specific. For example, if it's fantasy, is it a magic fantasy? A creature fantasy, like talking to animals or dragons and unicorns? Is it a supernatural fantasy? A curse fantasy? Getting very specific about the general idea helps me think of a story plot.
