"Grammar Nazis"

  1. Hiya :3

    So.

Everyone is dissing the people who are correcting you.

    But honestly, they're right.

I mean, yeah, they get annoying sometimes, and I understand typos, but things like:

i Lyk 2 rite lyk dis becuz I dnt wnt 2 spel crrctly cuz m la-z.

Yes, you understood that, but it's frustrating.

I mean, EVER HEARD OF A DICTIONARY?

No? Then what are doing with an I Device?!

So anyways, don't hate too much on "Grammar Nazis" because it becomes annoying. You have fingers to type properly, you know.

    Amber out.

    *rolls away*

  2. Hmmmmm...

  3. Sometimes they go a little far. I mean I understand correcting people for making a lot of mistakes but if someone misses a letter in a word you don't have to correct them for that.

    That's all I have to say

  4. "I mean, I understand*. . ."

  5. Nina: Yeah, I get you. That's what I meant by I understand typos. But some people go overboard and when people try to correct them, they go haywire.

    CJS: 

Kandy: You're awesome for commenting. 

  6. Tiger: Hmmm? 

  7. I didn't say I was one myself. I just said that I have observed others getting mad at those who ARE Grammar Nazis.

And I can type without all the slangs. It's just my way of talking with friends, but when I'm writing essays and such, I use proper English.

  8. True.  Yes, support them at times. Only if they go to far is when I don't.

But if you want proper English, give me two minutes.

  9. REVISED 

Recently, whenever I click on a thread, the first post is a jumble of letters put together. Sometimes it's a useless thread, but other times, it consists of something serious. As the thread goes on, comments correcting the spelling and grammar of the posters are being added. What I find disturbing is the way people treat these "Grammar Nazis". At times, when it may just be a small typo, I can relate to the poster that it was just an honest mistake. But when people type with numbers and shortcuts consisting most of the letters in the word, that is the time I actually understand these Grammar Nazis.

I've observed that people tend to diss at these people, sometimes to the extent of blowing their top.

My main point is that you have to understand and put yourself in the shoes of the readers. It isn't really helpful not being able to read the words properly. Even making the effort to activate your Auto-Correct will be appreciated. Don't hate so suddenly on these people, because there may be misunderstandings if you don't write sufficiently. And eventually, that will lead to anger and drama and hate.

I'm not personally a so-called Grammar Police myself; I don't correct every mistake I see, but sometimes I do suggest to the people to watch their grammar and spelling for at times it may be hard to comprehend and understand. And like I said, misunderstandings may occur.

Thank you for your time in reading this.

  10. In case you read my first post, I specifically said that these are to people who: talk lyk dis. Shortcuts, numbers. If their first language isn't English so be it, but they would use numbers and mismatched letters in their sentences.

I made them sound innocent, yes some, but like I said, I only support them SOMETIMES. When they go to far that is when my support decreases.

  11. Yes, okay. I'm just explaining and asking that they give a little bit more effort into the way they type. It may not be grammar school, but it's the Internet. Everyone can read what you write. As mentioned beforehand, misunderstandings may occur if people do not write properly. They may write however they want, but they're also taking a risk of drama arising.
