Josh With everyone in a prone position, they loaded their weapons and waited for the imminent onslaught. I cocked my head back and whispered, 'Charlie, get behind that tree. Treat Sanderson!" Just as I turned my head around, a twig snapped. It came from behind us. I jumped up and produced my Raging Bull. I quickly but cautiously walked into the foliage. There was a silhouette. I immediately stuck my hand into the foliage and held that person at gun-point. He stammered, "C-c-cap. It's Griff-Griffindoor." I lowered my fire arm. Stewie emerged from behind the foliage. "Cap, the General's with the rest of the soldiers. I came to help." Shooting had already started. We ducked down and returned fire. I sprayed bullets all over the place. Random bullets whizzed over our heads. The rebels were close. Suddenly, a tall muscular man jumped out of nowhere and pruned next to me. His voice was deep and rough. " Name's Smoyer. See you could use some help." He pushed himself up into a crouch position, and reached onto his back. Slung over it was... A Zeus Cannon. I stared wide-eyed with envy at it. "What the ****... What did you think Afghanistan was? ****ing COD?! Where the **** did you get it?" "Shoot first, talk later." With that he blasted a large gust of wind. The closer rebels fell to the ground, dead. The rest were blown away like ragdolls...
Andy Walking along in the forest, my minigun rested on my shoulder, Vexial and I looked all over for Cyber. "Damn that deserter..." mumbled Vexial. Using my machete, I sliced plant after plant, getting rid of them and clearing a path for both of us, leaving behind a trail of dead, now useless carcasses of plants. Soon, we made it to a crossroad, or something that looked like it, where two dirt roads crossed. There were signs of human presence here, and they were here not too long ago... Vexial mentioned to the road leading to the right, "Dude, check that out..." What lay there confirmed my suspicions. A battle had taken place here. Rebel bodies lay sprawled on the ground, pools of blood Noe dried up, leaving inconspicuous traces of it on the path. Bullet shells were everywhere, and no plant was left standing. The place was charred, probably from an explosion. I wanted to investigate further, when all of a sudden, battle cries could be heard in the distance, in the direction in front of us. We quickly made our way by following the sounds of gunfire, screams and explosions. Slowly but surely, the sounds were getting louder. And then I heard an unmistakable sound of a Wonder Weapon. "The Zeus Cannon" I muttered in awe, and quickly snapped out of my daze, quickening our pace, now running alongside Vexial. "I really ought to start playing COD." He sighed to himself, "Coz' I have absolutely no idea whatsoever what a Zeus Cannon is."
Vexial I rushed along toward the direction of the battle with Andy by my side. We were silent the whole time, the only sounds were that of grass being trampled and gunfire, and there were no longer any screams. This could mean one of two things. One, the revels had really bad aim, and no one was getting killed. Either that, or the people fighting the rebels, were dead. Hopelessness started to well up in me. I broke into a sprint. Soon, I found myself behind a thin curtain of foliage. I cautiously pushed it aside, slinging my LRWC PSD onto my back and drawing my SIG 9mm from the holster hidden under my fatigues. I emerged from the foliage and fortunately, I did not have a fight on my hands. In front of me was a large number of US troops, and no sign of rebel fire. I spotted Cyber, crouching on the ground, Zeus Cannon or whatever they called it in hand. I started, "Cy-" when a soldier, or rather a Captain, as I realized spun round, M16 barrel slightly making contact with my clammy forehead. I was shocked, scared even. I was too young to die. Then he lowered his gun. "Vexial?" Only then did I recognize his face. "Mason... Josh Mason?" "Haha! Dude! Fancy meeting you out on the battlefield!" Cyber raised an eyebrow. "You guys know each other?" Josh replied, "Back in the days... PIMD. Haha! Those were the days!" Andy caught up with us. I introduced him to Josh. "This is Andy. My veteran buddy. He's ve-" A mortar exploded. A body in fatigues flew towards us. "Ambush!" End of Chapter 5
Chapter 6: Sky High Callum I ducked just in time as that unfortunate - and now dead - soldier's body flew over my head. And it landed on the new guy, Andy. He swore and stood up, clutching his mini-gun. More mortars followed. All around us, shells exploded and threw dirt into the air. I prayed a silent prayer. "God, I'm too young to die!" By now, everyone had hit the ground, their eyes peeled, looking for the source of the mortar fire. Suddenly Blizzard shouted, "North-east, 20 degrees! Dilapidated building! Third storey!" I aimed my AK-47 at the right direction. True enough, white smoke mushroomed from the courtyard of the old building, and on the third storey, sniper fire was seen. A single shot fired from the small window and the spot next to my head exploded with dust, a bullet embedded in the reddish-brown soil. "****." I cursed. "Daisy! Got a clear shot?" "Uh huh.", came the reply. Daisy fired her Intervetion. A body dropped through the window, and landed on the mortar directly below the window as it fired a shell. It exploded, incinerating everything within a 30 metre radius of the mortar. "Nice shot Daze!" "No one call me that, other than my mom!" Daisy snapped. I chuckled to myself and we set off.
Joe I trailed behind as my squad advanced deeper into the forest. We had faced a lot of resistance already. God knows what was in store for us. We had been walking for five minutes when we came upon a clearing. In front was a dirt path through the forest, and on both sides, a steep drop. Without saying, we took the dirt path through the road. This time, the forest was denser, and there were many more places for anyone to hide in wait for an ambush. Everyone was cautious, making sure every crook and cranny was free of rebels. All of a sudden, I spotted a toy movement in the palm tree in front of me. Instinctively, I shouted, "Ambush! In the trees!"
