26 channels from DirecTV have blacked out about 24 hours ago as a result of a conflict between DirecTV and Viacom. These channels include Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central, BET, VH1, CMT, Spike TV, TV Land, and many more. Viacom claims that DirecTV is underpaying them for their channels and that DirecTV's customers should pay more money for their channels. DirecTV is claiming that they are trying to help their customers by not accepting to this deal which would have caused a raise in price for their customers without the customers even knowing. Consequently, this is why the 26 channels have blacked out. Both companies are blaming the other company heavily for this incident. They are both seemingly making up false accusations which makes the real story hard to know for sure. The only Viacom channel that I ever watched was BET, and I watched it a bit and now I can't. Anyone else have DirecTV and now can't watch some of their favorite channels? What is your opinion on the issue? Discuss.
Viacom pulled channels from Dish back in 2004 and I also read that they might be victims of Viacom soon as well.
