Actually Jerm .-. Congress ruined the country, please blame those responsible, not the scape goat, thanks.
As a conservative, I hate the bill but the fact is that it is constitutional per the Supreme Courts ruling. Judge Roberts did the right thing in clarifying that it is funded through taxation but also made it clear that this bill was passed down by our elected officials and that if the American people didn't want it, they should have elected different people. This is fact. In addition this bill was advertised that it was not a tax but in the end the American people were duped which has me angry. What really angers me more is the comment Rep Nancy Pelosi made which was to sign the bill now so we can see what's in it. This comment was irresponsible and there has been no accountability for her comment.
On a personal note, universal healthcare is an issue that should be left to the states. Putting together a program that blankets the whole country is irresponsible. The value of a dollar in California is very different to the value in states like Nevada and other small states. To know that issues like contraception can be covered absolutely sickens me. This bill should focus on extreme situations that can cripple an individual financially. At least at the state level, my vote will have more power as to what it covers. In addition I have the right to live in a different state. With this bill, you can't escape it no matter what you do. I fear America is going down the path of ancient Rome with our entitlements. But that's a different topic in itself.
There is a reason for National and State governments; They are probably experimenting. Just see how it plays out. It is not the end of the world.
Agreed in that it's not the end of the world but as a capitalist I see so much money being thrown away in this process. Follow the money, who's benefitting? Lawyers and politicians, not the public. Most economists will tell you that there are really only two ways a country can achieve wealth, natural resources and manufacturing. Rather than wasting money on lawyers, I'd rather see our country investing in projects such as the keystone pipeline which will not only increase jobs but provide much needed tax dollars to help fund projects such as universal healthcare, education, or other projects that can truly help the citizens of America.
And then people realize that their opinions do not matter and none of this is going anywhere. But for sake of arguing, I read this tread, and came to one conclusion.. You are all circling the idea that in arguin this, and coming up with different ideas will actually do anything. If you really want to do something, start an online petition and have people sign it. If you get enough signatures, your document will be passed on, and will be reviewed.. Might even make its way all the way up.. It's a long shot, but you miss 100% of the targets you didn't shoot at.
The issue of votes has already been acknowledged. As I stated earlier, Justice Roberts already said its the responsibility of the people to elect their officials. Unfortunately our choices suck. But thats an issue for another thread
I think the republicans are trying to make it seem like its a bad thing. Hell, I think its revolutionary ,_,. Off Topic Politics: I passed a McDonalds with a help wanted sign. Those people who claim they need more jobs and what not should really start looking harder....
