"Okay Kat how about we tak-" A muffled BOOM sounded. I looked around. "Zeke.. What was that?" He stood up and went to the huge window. I got up to and stood behind him. Laying both hands on his shoulder. He was stiff. He was staring at a tragedy. I followed his gaze and saw it. A mushroom cloud was just a mile away. We looked at each other. Fear in our eyes. "Kat, we have to get out of here." I nodded and turned around cramming all my papers and books into my back back. I saw people around me just staring outside the window like idiots. Zeke packed all his things into his black, back pack as well. He swung it over his shoulder, putting both straps on. "Ready?" I nodded and swung one strap over my shoulder. As we were running to stairs I saw something out the window. I stopped running and started walking to the window. I saw... a SWAT team? What the hell were they doing here? I looked at Zeke. "Come on!" he yelled. I ran towards him, "A SWAT team is here!" "Wha-?" he said some what out of breath. He grabbed my arm and dragged my down the stairs. I kept stumbling as we went down the metal stairs. Our shoes tapping, me occasionally gasping, head pounding. Suddenly we heard yelling. The SWAT team had burst into the stair case and was coming up. We were going down. We froze. We didn't know what to do, where to go, how to react. We were just scared out of our minds. "Go go go!" shouted one of the men. They finally got to our flight of the stair case and they kept going like a stampede. One of the men grabbed my arms in a death grip and was pushing me to go up. I kept running up with the man's hands around me. I looked over at Zeke who was in the same position I was. Pale, scared, barely able to walk, stumbling. We got to the top floor and busted through the gray door. "Take cover!" one of them yelled and at this moment everything slowed down. A machine gun was firing in our direction. Papers going everywhere, books being destroyed, people screaming and yelling. I looked around thinking "I was going to die." I looked over at Zeke who was ducking under a desk. "What are you doing!? Get down!" he yelled. It all seemed so slow to me. Finally one of the SWAT men tackled me down. I landed on my back. Hitting my head hard on the carpet. I turned me head to look at Zeke. He was still sitting there. Knees up to his chest. Hands and arms on top of his head. His eyes wide looking at me. "Let's go!" one of the men shouted. I suddenly got up and ran, following them. Trusting them. Hoping this would be over soon. I couldn't take it anymore. I got to the other side and ducked behind a metal desk. I turned my head to see Zeke still running towards me. Almost there, Zeke. Come on! He was so close when suddenly... Four bullets went inside his body, taking his life away.
