The man walked over to me, took the duct tape from my hands, and put it back over Tommy's mouth. "He was so loud," the man said. I stood up but suddenly Sophie was behind me, holding my arms so I couldn't move. "We've been infiltrating your life for years, Alice, to make things work." I bit my lip. "Sophie, my parents trusted you!" I shouted. She laughed and tied me up, then put me in the corner, in between Daphne and Tommy. Then she walked to a panel on the wall and hit some buttons, and then things got really weird. The metal arch began spinning in on itself, wrapping strands of metal closer to the main beam, and several arcs of green light shot into the center, filing the room with a green glow. The man tossed a pebble into it, and the glow disappeared. It looked like a normal arch again. "What was that?" I asked. "A machine," the man answered. "A time machine, that you can use to get anywhere, as long as you have a chip in your arm to take you back." He pushed up the sleeve of his suit and showed me a small scar. "Where did the pebble go?" Daphne asked. "Look in Alice's pocket." Sophie said. I felt in my jacket pockets. "There's nothing there." I said. "Wait," the man glanced at his watch. "Three, two, one." My hands touched a smooth surface inside my pocket, that hadn't been there seconds before. "Oh my gosh," I said. The man smiled. "She believes us." "Why are you doing this?" I asked. "Because ten years from now, when you are twenty five, you and your parents will make a decision which changes the course of human events." "So you killed my parents." I said. "We are from two hundred years in the future, when the last of the humans are trying to survive, and have pinpointed the choice that made our world go so horribly wrong." "If you're just trying to survive," Daphne interrupted, "how do you have this technology?" She gestured to the time machine. Suddenly, the machine started to glow again, but this time, it was a blue light instead of green. "I-I didn't do that." Daphne said. Sophie pressed a bunch of buttons on the panel. "Someone is coming through," she said, puzzled. In the middle of the arch appeared a woman, she looked like she was in her mid twenties. She had long red hair, and blue eyes. Oh, and she was carrying this gun sort of thing. With two shots, the woman knocked out Sophie and the man. Then she walked over to Daphne Tommy and me. "Alright, kids, we've got big problems now."
