Macchiato with a Dash of Mystery 

  1. Part1.

I stood in the doorway of the coffee shop, as my dark green eyes scanned the tables. Looking for the not so familiar face.

I glanced at my watch as I took a step further in.

    7:03.

I was on time, a few minutes late if you were picky.

The aroma of coffee and pastries surrounded me. Engulfed me, even. I had left for the firm early, dressing in my nicest gray suit and dark green tie that brought out the green in my dark eyes.

Why was I dressed so classy?

    I didn't have a case today, I wasn't even meeting a new client.

I was going on my first date with her .

Why did I think she would actually come?

Did I really wake up earlier than usual, and skip the first hour of work at my OWN law firm just to come here, to see her?

I took a deep breathe and walked to the far corner of the cafe, and sat down.

My brow furrowed as I propped my elbows on the table and ran my fingers through my naturally tousled black hair. Having nothing better to do, and wanting to make a good impression, I quickly messed up my hair even more, giving it that 'I just woke up, but I'm still sexy!' look.

A young waitress noticed and came by to flirt and ask what I wanted. I carefully ordered two caramel macchiatos and a blueberry muffin.

She looked disappointed when I ordered two drinks. Poor girl.

After a few minutes, the waitress came back with my order.

The girl was still a no show.

    So, why was I waiting?

To be honest, I'm not sure.

I don't even know her name...

Maybe it was her curly auburn hair, that lay like silk on her shoulders. The natural blonde highlights made her icy blue eyes look like gems.

Or maybe, it was her personality,
shy, timid and quiet that made me want to know her more?

Or maybe, just maybe, it was the small reminder in the back of my mind that I had a beautiful wife and playful, young son back home, that thrilled me.

    Hi everyone. It's Syd.
Here's a new story I have planned out. Feedback is MUCH appreciated. 

  2. I love the story. I think you have an excellent beginning and a natural flair for writing. Just please try not to make it the story you are always seeing around here. The fall in love: break up: come back together: live happily ever after kind.

  8. Ok, whatever, lolz. I'm just going to post part2.

    Part2.

    Jenny's POV.

"Jenny, the past 3 years have been the best of my life. It didn't take long for me to realize that you were the one I wanted to share the rest of my life with. The one that I wanted to cook breakfast every morning for. The one I want to raise beautiful children with. The one I want to do... Well, everything with. I can't imagine life without you being by my side.

Will you marry me, Jennifer Golden?"

Those 6 words ended my dream, and left me in a love struck mood when I awoke.

I remember that amazing night in vivid detail. Peter and I had been dating for three and a half years. He blindfolded me and drove who knows where, when we arrived, he carried me bridal style for a few minutes before setting me down. He helped me step up onto something and after a few minutes, he told me that I could take the blindfold off.

We were on a hot air balloon, floating around the late afternoon sky. He had even packed a picnic. Such a hopeless romantic.

My flashback was interrupted when the bed shook slightly, it was probably Peter, getting up to fix breakfast, I thought with a small smile.

But when I opened my eyes, it wasn't my handsome husband leaving the room. Sitting on Peter's side of the bed, was our hyperactive son, Jason.

"Momma, where's Daddy? I want him to fix me chocolate chip waffles!", my 4 year old son said cheerfully.

"Hmmm, honey. I'm not sure. Are you sure he isn't in downstairs?"

"Yes Mommy. His car keys and purse thing were gone!!"

I laughed slightly, "Jase, that's Daddy's messenger bag. For work. Not a purse. Women carry purses around. Does Daddy look like a woman to you?"

"Hmmmmm.. YES!", Jason responded as he began to jump up and down on the bed.

"Daddy looks like a pretty lady!", he continued with a grin.

"Your father does not look like a woman!", I responded with a laugh as I reached for my son and pulled him into my lap, ticking his belly as he laughed happily.

"Okay! Okay! Daddy looks like a boy! You win!", he yelled as he freed himself from my grip and ran downstairs.

I sighed as my hyperactive son left the room, and reached for my phone on the bed side table.

An unread text from Peter lit up.

'Have a big case to work on today. Won't be home till later. Eat dinner without me if I'm not here by 7. Love you!'

I rolled my eyes, Peter hadn't mentioned a new case at dinner last night.. He actually seemed like he was in another world, far off in space.

I couldn't help but imagine that he was thinking about our plans for tonight, I bet he was going to surprise me and take me out somewhere romantic tonight..

After all, it was our fourth wedding anniversary.

  12. Part3.

    Meaaaanwhile, back at the cafe.
    Waitress', (Grace) POV.

    Dayumm. That man is fine.
    No, but really.

His dark green eyes and black hair.

    To freaking die for.

    His style?

    Not many guys had that.

Wow. The whole package. Now I just need to talk to him.

    Maybe I'll get lucky.

Maybe he just wants two coffees

Or maybe his date will show him up.

Well, might as well take a chance.

I slowly walked towards his table and stood next to him.

"Hi.", wow. Did I really sound nervous? Grace, get yourself together!

He looked up from his coffee.

His dreamy, green eyes felt like they pierced through my soul.

At first he didn't say much, and as I began to take small steps back, he murmured in a deep, husky voice, "Hello".

"You seem.. Lonely. Mind if I sit down?"

What am I doing?! I'm supposed to be working..

He looked doubtful at first but slowly nodded his head. When I sat down, he slid the muffin towards me.

I raised my hands up and said, "No! It's yours. I can't take it."

    He grinned slightly and said,
    "Have you ever tried it?.."

I know, I know. It's kind of sad that, I have worked here for a few months, yet I still haven't tried the blueberry muffin.

I blushed and shook my head no.

He simply laughed and lifted his chair up to move closer to me. After he settled back down, he broke a piece of the muffin off and slowly brought it toward my mouth.

"Open up!", he said with a slight smile.

I must admit. I was surprised that he was about to feed me a muffin. I had thought for sure that he was married or at least in a relationship..

As I closed my eyes and opened my mouth, I can't help but hear the door's familiar bell jingle softly...
