    Chapter 21

"Marie, what are you doing?" Brian asked.
"She's on a date. With me," Dustin replied. I put my head in my hands. He just said the wrong words.
"What? You told me, not even four days ago, that you weren't going to date!" Brian exclaimed.
    "Brian," I started.
"Yes?!" he exclaimed, demanding an answer.
"One moment, Dustin," I said, smiling at him apologetically. I stood and grabbed Brian's wrist and dragged him outside. He followed willingly, still waiting for an answer.
Once we were outside I turned to him.
"Look, Brian," I said, "You are an amazing guy. But I never wanted to date you."
    "Why?" he asked.
"I never wanted to date Jason's best friend. We had a fling, once, but that was it. It would hurt me to date you. It would kill me because of who you are!" I turned, frustrated.
"Then why date him? Why date that guy?" Brian asked.
"It's just a little date so I can pay him back."
    "For?"
"Living in his house, since I have no family anymore. Turns out I'm an accidental child. So, I have no true family anymore."
"Hell, so much has happened since we met three days ago!" Brian ran a hand through his hair and sighed.
"Marie, I'm glad you told me the truth. Just, one thing."
    "Yes?" I asked turning around.
He kissed me, and then pulled back. Quick as the wind. He frowned and walked back into the restaurant. I shook my head and walked back in a moment later.
As I sat down, Dustin asked, "What the hell happened?"
"Nothing. Just had to talk with my ex's best friend. Nothing to worry about," I said. I took a sip of my water, trying to already forget what had just happened.
"You sure?" he asked with a worried expression on his face.
    "Yes, I'm sure," I smiled.
"Should we go? I mean, it's your ex's best friend here." He looked at me expectantly.
"I guess," I sighed. I got up out of my seat. Dustin got up and took my hand. We walked to the entrance and I asked, "Do I have to pay since all we ordered was water?"
"Hmm..." the man said. He called for the manager which made us wait for ten minutes. When the manager came over, the man and the manager started talking. Finally, the manager said we could leave without paying.
We walked back out to Dustin's car in silence. I got in and so did he when we got to his car. He started the car and drove out of the parking lot.
"So, where to next?" I asked.
    "A movie," he smiled.
"Oh, what one?" I asked, excited.
"You'll see," he smiled again. I nodded and relaxed as he drove. It took about ten minutes and then we arrived at the theatre. Dustin and I went with the usual procedure and we walked up to the ticket booth.
"Two tickets under Evans," Dustin said to the ticket lady. She nodded and grabbed two tickets. She handed them to us and told us to have a nice time. We walked into the theatre and we walked into our section. We took a seat and I looked at him.
    "What movie?" I asked.
" The Vow , my dear," he said.
"Oh, I have been wanting to watch that so much!" I exclaimed with a smile.
    "Hush, it's on," he whispered.
I looked at the screen and watched it. When it was over, I was wiping tears out of my eyes. It was such a beautiful movie. Dustin looked at me as I wiped tears out of my eyes.
    "You okay?" he asked.
"Y-Yeah," I stuttered, still wiping tears out of my eyes. I stood walking out of the isle. Dustin followed me, hand on the small of my back. Once we were out of the theatre and in his car I smiled at him.
    "What?" he asked, smiling.
    "Nothing," I smiled.
He shrugged and started the car. He drove out of the parking lot and onto the freeway. We drove in silence again. Dustin looked over at me and smiled at me. Then

    Chapter 22

I woke up and saw white. Not like a dream's bright, blinding white. Hospital white. I was in a hospital. I groaned and tried to sit up.
"Ah, you're awake," I heard. It was a male voice.
    "Dustin?" I asked.
"No, no," the voice said and pulled open a curtain.
"I'm your doctor, Dr. Newman," he said.
"How's Dustin? Is he alright? Dear God, please tell me he's alright!" I exclaimed.
"We... We don't know," he frowned.
    "What?!" I exclaimed.
"He's in surgery, he has internal bleeding and he's lost a lot of blood," he said.
I just stared at him. I was shocked. Dustin is going to die, I thought.
    "What happened?" I whispered.
"You two were hit," he started.
    "B-By a d-drunk d-driver?" I stuttered.
"Yes, Miss Evans." The doctor looked at me like I was physic.
"Not again," I whispered. I felt tears streaming down my cheeks.
"What do you mean?" he asked.
"Jason Martins was hit by a drunk driver. He was my boyfriend," I said.
"And I presume Dustin Leyman is your boyfriend as well?" he asked.
    "I-I-I'm n-n-not s-s-sure," I stuttered. "W-W-We a-a-ren't o-o-official."
He nodded. He looked like he felt sorry for me.
"What happened to me?" I asked after a few minutes.
"You had a cut on your forehead, a piece of glass in your arm, which wasn't in deep, thankfully, and that is it. The only reason you didn't take much damage is because Mr. Leyman shielded you."
I put a hand on my heart, to protect it from jumping out of my chest.
"Am I free to go?" I asked.
"Yes, we have undergarments and sweat pants and shirt for you," he said as he tossed me my new clothes. He closed the curtain. I dressed in the clothes and walked out into the hall. Dr. Newman gave me some socks and I put them on.
"When will it be over?" I asked.
"In a few hours," Dr. Newman said. "Then he'll be allowed to have visitors. Speaking of visitors, there is a woman wanting to see you," he pointed behind me. I looked and saw Emmit.
"Emmit!" I exclaimed and ran to her. I hugged her tight.
"Oh, Marie! You are okay!" Emmit exclaimed.
"I am, but Dustin..." I started and bit my lip.
"What happened before zis?" she asked.
I told her everything, from the dream to the movie. I told her about the kisses and the gazebo. The dream I took the longest on. When I was done, she was speechless. I took probably an hour telling everything, since I was gone for a few days.
"I can't believe zis," she whispered. I nodded and I had tears in my eyes. I hugged her again and we cried on each other's shoulders.
After a long time of crying, Emmit asked, "How is Dustin?"
"H-He's-" I choked out. I covered my mouth and let a tear fall down my cheek. Emmit stood and talked to a nurse. I looked over at her and she had covered her mouth. She nodded at the nurse and walked back over to me.
"I can't believe it," she said after a few minutes.
"The only reason he's like that is because he was shielding me," I whispered.
    "So sweet!" she exclaimed.
"But it almost cost him his life!" I exclaimed and stood. I paced for the next hour, worried out of my mind.
After two hours of worrying, pacing, crying, and talking, a doctor came up to me and asked, "Are you Marie Evans?"
"Y-Yes, doctor. How is he?" I asked. I stood there, holding my breath, trying to keep calm.

"He's fine," he smiled at me.

You thought I killed Dustin, didn't you?

  7. I would start saying words I would never say on here if you killed him.

  8. But you know I would never kill Dustin. If I did, I'd have to kill Marie too. And no one wants that.

  9. I'm thinking about putting up another update... Would you all like one? I think so!

    Chapter 23

"He's fine!" I exclaimed happily. I covered my mouth and looked at Emmit. She smiled at me and covered her mouth as well.
"Right now, he's asleep. Would you like to be there in his room to-"
"Yes! If course, he's the man I love, how could I not?" I exclaimed.
Emmit giggled and stood. The doctor smiled and lead Emmit and I to his room. I ran inside when he opened the door. I ran to Dustin's side and took his limp hand.
"Glad to know zat you vill admit it," Emmit smiled and sat next to me.
"Oh, shut up," I smiled. I looked at Dustin and didn't take my eyes off of him. After an hour I yawned.
"Emmit, could you get me a coffee?" I asked.
"Of course," she smiled. She left the room quietly. At the click, Dustin slightly moved. He groaned and opened his eyes.
    "D-Dustin?" I whispered.
    "M-M-Marie," he whispered back.
"Oh, thank God!" I exclaimed. I smiled shakily at him, so happy he was alright.
"Hey, you," he whispered. "How are you?"
"Fine, thanks to you," I smiled at him. "You didn't have to shield me, you know. You almost died! Internal bleeding, and you lost a lot of blood while I had a cut on my forehead and piece of glass in my arm."
He smiled weakly at me. "Anything to your beautiful face," he said.
I blushed lightly and gave him a kiss on his forehead. "I'm just happy you're okay."
"Am I interrupting?" I heard. I turned slightly and saw Emmit smiling at me and Dustin.
"Not all, Miss Emmit," Dustin said.
"Pleaze, just call me Emmit, Mizz Emmit is too formal for me," Emmit smiled and handed me my coffee. "I'll go get ze nurse." Emmit walked out.
"She seems so protective," Dustin said with a smile.
"Yes, well, I love her like a sister," I smiled back. Dustin started sitting up and I helped him as gently as I could.
"Oh, Mr. and Mrs. Leyman," a nurse started.
"Wait! I'm Miss Marie Evans, not his wife," I said quickly with a blush.
    "Right," Dustin added, also blushing.
"Well, Mr. Leyman, you should try not to move so much. It could start up the bleeding again," the nurse said.
"Oh, dear," Dustin said and stopped moving. I kept a hold of his hand as the nurse started a small inspection.
"Well, you seem fine, but you'll have to stay here for a while. Only a few days, so after that, you'll be free to go."
Dustin nodded and smiled at me. The nurse left and Dustin asked, "You going to be alright without me around?"
"Oh, I'm not leaving your side," I said with a smile. "You know you need me."
"I know I do," Dustin smiled back.
"Such lovebirds!" Emmit exclaimed. She waved at us and left.
"So, we may be, but you haven't won me over yet," I smirked.
"Okay, then what will? Flowers, presents, a little fun, a better date?" he asked.
"A better date. This one ended up with you almost dead, exactly like my ex boyfriend."
"Yeah, that would be best. There's a fair in town this next week. When I get out, we can go, if you want."
"Perfect," I smiled. I gave him a kiss on the cheek.
He smiled at me and said, "Looks like I already won you over." He kissed me gently and bit his lip.
"Maybe you did. Maybe it was your kissing, cooking, gardening, or your hair," I smirked.
    "My hair?" he laughed.
"It's a joke," I smiled and kissed him.
"Adorable," he said against my lips. I pulled back and laughed. Totally not what I had in mind, but it was natural for me. And he almost died, for me. And that was sweet.

    Chapter 24

Over the next few days, I barely left his sight. I stayed next to him for almost everything. Finally he was allowed to leave and I took him to our home.
    "Marie," Dustin started.
"Yes?" I asked, eyes focused on the road.
"Thank you," he finished with a smile.
"Don't. I live in your house, I should take care of you."
"Right," he said. After that, we became silent. I parked my car and got out. I rounded the car and helped Dustin out. I walked him to the door, unlocked it, and took him to his room by following his directions. I opened the door to his room and it was beautiful.
It had crimson walls, with beautiful maroon carpets. His bed was a king size, like mine. It had dark red sheets and pillows. His room matched like mine.
"Wow," I said as I walked him to his bed.
"The maroon room," he said as he lied down. I covered him up and kissed his forehead.
"I'll let you rest," I smiled.
    "Marie, I'm fine," he said.
"You almost died, you are not fine!" I argued.
    "But-"
"No! You are going to rest today. Tomorrow, we will go to the fair. And that is final! Period!"
Dustin groaned and nodded. I smiled and turned on my heel. I walked out of his room an down to the creepy living room. I walked over and sat on a chair. I turned on the tv and went to the new where I saw a picture of myself and Dustin.
"...In other news, two people were in a crash three nights ago. Those two were Miss Marie Evans and Mister Dustin Leyman..." the reporter said.
"Are you kidding me?! It's on the news?!" I exclaimed and shook my head. I listened to her talk about what caused it, what our injuries and one major detail that caught me off guard.
"We have a live reporter standing out of Mr. Leyman's home. Brad, could you tell us any additional news?" the reporter said. Then I suddenly saw the house on the television.
"No!" I yelled and ran to the door. I slung it open and I saw Brad the reported at the door.
"Miss Evans!" he exclaimed. "What- how is Mr. Leyman?"
"I am not giving any comment to you people! And turn that camera off!" I exclaimed.
"Is he still at the hospital?" he asked.
"Turn the damn camera off!" I said, ignoring the question. I reached and grabbed the camera.
"Give that back!" Brad the reporter said.
"I don't give a damn! Sue me for all I care!" I slammed the camera on the ground and walked back inside. I slammed the door and walked back into the living room to hear this: "...It seems Miss Evans is not ready for any publicity. Let's see the footage again..."
It showed me, on the screen, acting like I just did. I shrugged and changed the channel. That was fun, I thought.
