    Chapter 16

    I opened my eyes and saw bedsheets covering me. I had a lace nightgown on and I had a large stomach. I could feel a kicking and I saw a hand rest upon the big bump.
    "How is he?" I heard Dustin ask.
    "Kicking as always," I replied smiling. What was I doing?
    Dustin chuckled. I turned to look at him and he was shirtless, where I could see his chest.
    "What?" I asked. I was freaking out in my mind. What the hell?!
    "You are so adorable, honey. And then we have our little Carter," he smiled. He kissed my nose gently.
    I closed my eyes and smiled. But my thoughts were screaming at me.
    "Love?" Dustin asked.
    "Hmm?" I asked.
    "What do you think about...another?" Dustin asked.
    No, I thought. "Yes," I said. What the hell was going on?! I was pregnant, I must have been married to Dustin, and we wanted another child! I couldn't understand any of this! In my mind I was screaming for this to stop.
    "Marie..." I heard in the distance. Everything turned white. My stomach went back to normal. Dustin disappeared.
    "Marie!" I heard again, closer this time.
    "Marie!" I heard again. I heard my name repeat continuously. I covered my ears, scared out of my mind.
    "What is happening?" I whispered, hands still covering my ears.
    "Marie, please, wake up!"

    Chapter 17

    "Marie, please, wake up!" I heard. My eyes snapped open and I saw Dustin standing over me with a very worried expression on his face. I had my hands over my ears, like I did in the white. I looked around and saw I was back in Dustin's living room. Then I took my hands off my ears and put one on my stomach. I was completely fine. No baby, no marriage, no craziness.
    I smiled at Dustin and hugged him. He hugged me back saying, "Please never scare me like that again!"
    I cried on his shoulder in relief that I wasn't having a child named Carter. Or that I was married to Dustin. He rubbed my back in comfort, and kept me safe in his arms.
    His embrace seemed so familiar. So much like one I used to know. I couldn't think, though. All that mattered was that terrible dream, no, nightmare, was over. It was all over.
    I pulled back from him, tears still falling down my cheeks, but slowly. He looked deep into my eyes, looking for something.
    "What happened?" he asked quietly.
    "I-I had a nightmare. I fell asleep on your couch, and had such a terrible, terrible nightmare," I whispered.
    "Are you okay now?" he asked, still searching my eyes. I nodded and closed my eyes. He picked me up bridal style and carried to the stairs and up them.
    "What are you-" I started.
    "To your new room," he answered. "You need the comfort of your new room."
    I just nodded and burrowed my head into his chest like a small child. He opened a door and walked in. The room was fit for a queen.
    There was an elegant king sized bed with sky blue sheets and pillows. The room was painted a lovely hue of blue, making it look like I was in the sky. There was the same hue of carpet, looking like he was walking on air. He laid me down on the bed and put covers over me.
    "Dustin," I started.
    "Hush," he said and kissed my forehead. "Rest, Marie." I just nodded and made myself comfortable in the elegant bed.
    "I'll finish bring in the boxes, while you rest." Dustin left the room and shut the door behind him. The door was also a lovely hue of blue, but a tad lighter than the rest.
    I sighed. He was too sweet. I didn't know how a date would make it up to him. I kept thinking about it as I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Just a dream... Or is it fate? You decide, is it how Marie wants it to be, just a nightmare, just a figment of her imagination? Or is it something more, like her destiny, her fate?
    Chapter 18
    "Marie," I heard a whisper. I opened my eyes slowly, praying that I wasn't having another nightmare! I fully opened my eyes to find Dusting smiling down at me and holding a tray. I looked at him with a confused look.
    "What are you in my house for?" I asked, dazed from the peaceful sleep.
    "It's my house too," he smirked. I thought for a second and remember led that I moved on with Dustin.
    "Oh, right," I said as I sat up. Dustin watched me carefully, making sure I wasn't acting like I had done earlier. When I had fully sat up, Dustin sat the tray down in front of me. It was breakfast.
    "What time is it?" I asked.
    "Ten," he replied.
    "A.M. or P.M.?" I asked.
    "A.M.," he replied. "You slept all through the afternoon and evening so I let you sleep until now." He smiled at me as I looked at the contents of the tray.
    There were scrambled eggs with toast, a bowl of Cheerios, an orange, orange juice, and a white rose in a small clear cup. It looked freshly picked, the thorns still attached and and the petals so delicate that if you blew on it ever so slightly, it would fall apart.
    "Thank you," I whispered.
    "Anytime," he smiled at me. "Especially after that scare yesterday."
    "Still, thank you." I stared at my food, not thinking about what I was supposed to do with it. Then the gears in my brain turned and I started eating. I chose the cereal first. I ate that quickly, amazed at how good and fresh it tasted. Then I ate some of the orange, which seemed freshly picked from an orange tree. As I bit into the toast, I realised it was French Toast. Made perfectly, not overcooked or undercooked.
    "This tastes amazing!" I exclaimed as I finished my toast and reached for the eggs. I couldn't tell if Dustin was smiling or staring, because I dug into the eggs, again, perfectly cooked. I took a sip of my orange juice, which tasted freshly squeezed. Then I finished the orange and smiled at Dustin when I finished.
    "That was amazing!" I exclaimed again. "Give my compliments to the cook."
    "Why, thank you!" Dustin exclaimed. He smiled at me and I just stared at him.
    "You cook?" I asked.
    "And clean, garden, serve, and other things servants would normally do," he smirked. He seemed very proud, and I could understand why.
    "Why didn't you tell me?" I asked.
    "You never did ask," he replied. I took the rose and it's cup and placed it on my sky blue night stand.
    "Exactly, what room am I in?" I asked.
    "The sky room," he replied. "I loved this room when I was a child, and I still do now."
    "Very elegant," I commented.
    "I never thought of it that way. I always thought I was only fit for one, but whom, I don't know." He looked at me with a smiled on his face.
    "Well, it's very elegant, in my opinion." I smiled back at him and flipped my sheets off of me. I stood, stretching slowly.
    "Clothes?" I asked.
    "In the closet or the drawers," he pointed at the two places painted as light as the door.
    "Bathroom?"
    "Right, down the hall, third door on your right."
    "Thank you," I smiled at him and pushed past him lightly. I opened the door and followed Dustin's instructions. I opened the third door on the right to find a light colored bathroom. It was a very light green, almost white. It had the same color of towels and small wash cloths. The curtain was a brighter, more vibrant color of green. I thought it was beautiful.
    I got into the shower after I took off the clothes I had worn for more than two days. I scrubbed myself clean of the grime and dust that must have caked my body. I scrubbed my face to remove the tear stains on my cheeks. After I had gotten the filth away from my body and I was glowing a hue of red I stepped out and wrapped a towel around my hair and them myself.
    I walked out of the bathroom and walked back to my room, the sky room. I opened the door and saw Dustin laying out a light red outfit for me to wear. I stood at the threshold, watching him in awe.
    "There," I heard him mutter and turn to see me. He jumped in surprise and turned a dark crimson. I giggled and smiled at him.
    "Thank you," I said. "Now, scurry along as I dress."
    He rushed out of my new room, still crimson and shut the door behind him I dressed into the outfit he had laid out for me. It was a white shirt with a light red jacket and light red slacks, like a business suit. There were red heels, not like the ones I had worn the last two days, not as tall.
    I checked myself in the mirror that hung on the closet door. I looked wonderful, now just a bit of make up. I scrambled through my new room, but I couldn't find any.
    "Dustin," I yelled, "where is my make up?"
    "Closet, top," he yelled back. I looked up and saw my make up, set neatly and perfectly. I got some red lipstick, brown mascara, and red eyeshadow, just to match my outfit. After thirty minutes of applying make up, Dustin came in and froze when he saw me.
    "What?" I asked.
    "You just look...amazing," he breathed. I blushed lightly and smiled at him.
    "Thank you, Dustin," I said. My curls were starting come back into form as my hair dried, so my hair was a bit out of whack. I pushed back some hair as I smiled at him. He just stared at me with the expression on love on his face.
    Oh, Lord, no.
    Chapter 19
    I walked downstairs and found that he had unpacked all the boxes that were brought in. I didn't see one box or anything out of place. I smiled at Dustin, since he was right next to me. I looked around and decided to take a walk around my new house.
    I walked into the living room, which was the same as the day before. I walked into the next room which turned out to be the dining room. There were cherry chairs which matched the table, which made the room look homey.
    Then I walked into the kitchen. I felt the smooth countertops, which were also cherry, and my hand touched the ice cold fridge. It was sliver, as most appliances were. I looked inside and saw that it was perfectly organized. I smiled and shut the fridge. I walked into the next room, which turned out to be empty. Then I walked into the next room which was the laundry room. Then I walked outside and found a large garden.
    The garden had purples and blues and yellows and every color you could think of. There were all the flowers I could think of, just sitting there, swaying in the light breeze. I walked through it, lost in the colors.
    After a long time, I turned, trying to figure out exactly which way I came from. I decided to just walked one way and hope for the best. I walked through what I realized was a maze.
    "Great," I groaned. I looked around, still amazed by the colors. I turned to look at the way I had just came. I just stood there, thinking. Then I felt a hand rest upon my shoulder. I turned, scared out out of my mind.
    "Lost," Dustin smiled.
    "Yes, and scared out of my wits," I replied, slapping his arm.
    "Sorry for the maze, my mother's idea." Dustin held out his hand and I took it. He lead me through the beautiful colors. He walked through with ease and lead me to a clearing. Then I saw a gazebo, with flowers around it. There was a small path that was lead with little stones.
    Dustin pulled me to the gazebo and walked in. I followed and stood at one of the sides.
    "Beautiful," I smiled.
    "Yes, you are," he said, breathing on my neck. I turned to look at him, still smiling.
    "What did you say?" I whispered.
    "Uh..." Dustin froze. He blushed and stepped back. I giggled and turned back around to look at flowers.
    "When were these planted?" I whispered.
    "When I was a boy," he replied, and stood next to me. I placed my hands on the edge, leaning further to see the beautiful flowers. I felt Dustin's hand take mine and I didn't think anything of it.
    "And you've taken care of them?"
    He nodded slowly and he turned toward my. He pulled me by the hand to look at him. I turned my head to the ground, seeing a few stray vines that have made thief way to the floor of the gazebo.
    He put his hand under my chin and pulled my head up to he could look me in the eyes. They were gleaming, shining, every word you could think of in that matter. He pulled me into a soft and tender hug. I hugged him back, slowly. He pulled back slowly, looking into my eyes.
    "Marie," he whispered.
    "Yes, Dustin?" I whispered.
    He just stared into my eyes, not bothering to answer. I gave him a quick kiss on the cheek to bring him back to reality. He blinked and blush a light color of crimson.
    "We should hurry and head back, if you really want that date," I smiled. He nodded and pulled back, hand still in mine, and pushed through the maze with me trailing along.
    During that time I realised one thing. And I didn't know what to think of it. The only thought I never wanted to think popped into my brain. I thought, I am falling in love with Dustin.
    Chapter 20
    As we left, I felt a growing panic in the pit of my stomach. I couldn't be in love with him, could I? This was different, and not at all what I planned. I never planned for this to happen, not at all.
    As we left, I removed my hand from Dustin's. He walked up to the door and opened it, holding it open for me. I walked in and didn't wait for Dustin as I walked to the sky room. I couldn't think, I just needed to be away from him.
    I walked in the sky room and shut the door, looking for a lock. I couldn't find one so I walked to my bed and fell on it, closing my eyes. I couldn't think, I couldn't figure out what was going on, I couldn't figure out anything, I was so freaked out.
    I got up and found a window, covered by a lace curtain. I pushed it away, looking at the garden. I couldn't believe what I had just thought or what had just happened at the gazebo. And the weirdest part was, I think I wanted it to happen.
    I groaned and kept looking out the window when I heard a knock on the door.
    "Come in," I said. I kept looking out the window as the door opened.
    "Marie, you feeling okay?" I heard Dustin ask.
    "Fine," I whispered. I stood there, leaning on the wall, looking out the window.
    "You sure?" he asked. I heard his footsteps come closer to me. I didn't move, just listen to his steps and watched the colors out my window.
    "I'm sure," I whispered. I felt his hands place upon my shoulders and he spun me around. I just looked at him, my breathing had quickened along with my heartbeat. I swear, it was loud enough for the both of us to here.
    "Really?" he whispered, leaning in where out faces were only inches apart.
    "Really," I whispered as the reply. Dustin leaned in closer, our noses touching. My heartbeat quickened, and so did my breathing.
    Then he kissed me, ever so gently. When he pulled back, our foreheads touching, he grinned at me.
    "So, about that date," Dusting started.
    "Yes?" I whispered.
    "Tonight, eight, I'll pick where we go," he finished.
    "Sounds fine by me," I whispered with a small smile. He smiled back at me and pulled back, walking away. I put a hand on his arm to stop him. He looked at me, still smiling.
    Then I did the one thing I would never expect from myself. I kissed him, gently. I pulled back and said, "Thank you."
    He nodded with a smile and walked out of my room. I checked the clock and saw it was only three o'clock. Time to get ready.
    <><>
    I had my black dress on, the strapless one that wasn't too short or long, the same one I wore on the tragic night. I had my inch heels on and I had painted my nails black. I checked myself in the mirror and took a deep breath.
    I finally took a look at the clock and saw that it was seven. I still had time to relax and put on make up. I got out my make up and started putting it on. After forty-five minutes, I had finished and I was fixing my hair.
    I heard a knock on the door and I heard, "You ready?"
    "Give me fifteen!" I yelled and continued to work on my hair. I decided to leave it be, but to bring a hair tie with me. I grabbed my black clutch and walked to my door.
    I opened it to find no one there. I took a deep breath and walked to the stairs. I saw Dustin in a black tux and his hair combed to make him look very soficated.
    I walked down the stairs, my heels clicking on the wood. Dustin turned to see me and his jaw dropped. I walked down and stood next to him.
    "Close your mouth, don't want to let the flies in," I smirked, touching his jaw. He closed his mouth and smiled at me.
    "You look amazing," he commented.
    "Thank you, it was my third year anniversary dress," I said with a frown on my face.
    "Oh," he said and linked our arms together.
    "My car or yours?" I asked as we walked out the door.
    "Mine, since I know where I'm going," he answered with a smile. We walked to his Ferrari and he opened the door for me. I got in with a smile and he shut my door. He rounded the car and got in on his side.
    "So, where to?" I asked.
    "You'll see," he smiled. He started his car and pulled out of his driveway. We drove in silence all the way to the restaurant. But it was one of those comfortable silences.
    When he pulled into the parking lot, I caught a glimpse of the restaurant. It wasn't much, but it seem nice and romantic. I figured he would be romantic just because of what happened earlier that day.
    Dustin parked and got out. He walked around and opened my door for me. He held out his hand and I took it, getting out. He smiled and walked me to the entrance. When he opened the door and walked in, I saw the amazing interior.
    It was dark and quiet, like a restaurant should be. There was a live band playing a soft, sweet tune. There were no screaming children, just adults and young couples.
    "Welcome to Reveria, how may I help you?" a man asked.
    "We have a reservation under the name of Evans," Dustin replied. The man nodded looked on his list and gave a small smile.
    "Miss Marie Evans, Mr. Dustin Leyman, right this way," the man said and showed us to our table. Once we arrived, Dustin and I sat down.
    "Would you like anything to drink? Water, wine, tea, champaign?" he asked.
    "We'll have some water for now, thank you," Dustin answered for us. The man nodded and walked off.
    "This is nice," I said after a few moments.
    "It is, isn't it?" Dusting smiled.
    "You know, I never knew you were the Leyman child," I said.
    "I don't like to brag, Little Marie," he smirked. I froze, "Little Marie" was my nickname from when I was younger from a boy I used to be friends with.
    "Wait, 'Little Marie?' I haven't been called that in years," I said, confused.
    "Little Marie was my nickname for you, remember?" Dustin asked, smiling.
    "Wait, you are Little D?" I asked, covering my mouth.
    "Yeah," he smiled. "I can't believe you didn't remember till now."
    "Oh my Lord, I can't believe it. You and I had such fun when we were little. Where did you go?"
    "Parents started homeschooling me," he frowned.
    "Wow. Just think, if you had stayed, we wouldn't be here right now," I smiled.
    "What do you mean?" he asked.
    "Well-" I started.
    "Marie?!" I heard and turned. Oh, no, I thought.
