My first story. I'm sorry if it's not very good lol It's set in the middle ages (like medical I guess haha) and a romance, thriller and drama? Idk but yeah. Please enjoy. --------------------------- It had been a quiet night... yet very long. I looked up at the morning sky, the clouds white and fluffy while the sky itself was a beautiful blue. The sun was barely risen over the horizon. "Sir!" I looked away from the sky and to the edge of my property. It was the king's servant boy. I raised an eyebrow. Why was the king's servant boy looking for me. "Yes boy?" "The king. He requests you visit him immediately." "Why may I ask? Has the king a job for me to handle?" I asked. I reached to my side to place a hand on the hilt of my longsword. "Yes. There was a thief that came and robbed the kitchen inside the castle. They have fled." "I see. I'll come by later." "The king requests your presence now!" I sighed and stood up. "Alright I'm on my way," I told the boy. The boy nodded and immediately ran back towards the kingdom. I watched him leave before turning around and dropping my sword down onto the ground and reaching for my quiver full of arrows and my bow. It was easier to hunt with them than the sword. I turned and made my way to the castle. -------------------------- I made my way to the throne room and as I entered I walked towards His Highness and knelt down. "You requested me Your Highness?" "Alexander was it?" "Yes sir. I have carried out many missions for you these past few years, just as my father had." "John? Yes. I see the resemblance. The brown hair and dark eyes. Even your face resembles that of your late father. How old are you now?" "I am twenty years of age Your Highness." "I see. Well to get on with the point, I need you to hunt someone down. A girl. A thief. She robbed the kitchen of many supplies. She can't have made it very far with all that supplies. I need you to hunt her down and KILL her before she can come back again." "Sir?" "She is young. That I know. Just find her, it should be easy. She fled to the Missionary Forest." "Aye Your Highness. I shall carry out the mission," I said and I stood. I bowed before turning and leaving. I was to kill her? For stealing a bit of food? I already felt pity for the young girl. ------------------------- I walked into the forest. It had brightened now and the sun could be seen through the openings in the trees. It was beautiful and the greenery was magnificent. Many wild life roamed about and it was quite peaceful. "Darn..." I sighed. It would be impossible to find someone in such a large forest they could be anywhere. Only minutes had passed before there was a ruffling sound. I reaches for my bow and held it in my left hand. I readied it and looked towards a rather large bush. As I pushed away the branches quietly I stepped behind it. Behind the bush was a rather large meadow. It was open and the sun shone down onto the grass and all around. I looked up at the blue sky and I noticed the beauty that surrounded me. "Hmm... what should I eat first... Oh my... I'm so hungry, I haven't eaten in days..." My attention suddenly went from the clouds to the young figure that sat rather distant from me. I readied my arrow. I could not see her face, but from the back... she looked no older than sixteen. He hair was dark as night and fell down her back. I drew back my bow and examined her a bit. She seemed harmless. I watched as she retrieved an apple from the bag of supplies. "It's so good!" she cooed as she took a bite. I raised an eyebrow as she took another and giggled. She was innocent, she was possibly younger. She began to hum a familiar lullaby and I paused for a second. "That song..." I whispered. Just then the bow slipped from my grip and fell to the ground making a small sound, though heard by the girl. She immediately stood up and turned to face me. My eyes widened. She was young! She could not have been much older than twelve! She had emerald green eyes which were filled with fear and ivory skin. She was fair, and I couldn't help but almost feel an attraction towards her. I reached for my bow but instead I pulled a knife from my boot. I gripped it in my hand and walked towards her. She stepped back in panic and stumbled to the ground. I was only a close distance before I dropped the knife and fell to the ground myself. "My God what am I doing...?" I said quietly. "She's only a child. Lord she's only a child!" I shouted. ...just a child. --------------------------
