"Kat, just tell us what happened already!" I stayed silent, just staring at the handcuffs around my wrist. Why was I here again? I don't even remember. "Kat? Kat!" I snapped back immediately. "What!?" I asked fiercely. "What happened to your brother?" I whipped my head around to get my vibrant red hair out of the way and it all ended up on one side of my head. "You can't get the answer from me, honey," I grinned. The man sighed, "Then from who?" "Oh you should know, the very man that sent us into the field," I said looking at my nails. Man was I giving these people a hard time today. Before I could tease them again I was sedated to sweet sleep.
Just a quick heads up this is an ACTION story there are bits of romance but mainly ACTION so if you are more of a romance geek this really isn't your story but this is like... Maximum Ride you know action but with romance I shall update soon!
"Move, come on!" said the guard, which had his hand around my arm taking me to another interrogation room. "Patience is a virtue my dear," I said saying it in a way that made him wince ever so slightly. His grip on me tightened and he pushed me harder. We finally came to a stop in front of a metal door. He still had one hand wrapped around my arm and the other was getting scanned. Once the fingerprint scan was confirmed the door opened with a loud creak. He pushed open the door wider and pushed me into the room. "Take a seat," he said, "She'll by here in a little." He closed to door and I was left alone in the room. I examined to room. No cameras. No tinted windows. Just two chairs facing each other and a metal table in between them. I looked under the chairs and table. It wasn't bugged either. Finally I chose to take a seat. The hand cuffs on my hands were too tight. Finally I heard the beep of the door and it opened. I didn't bother turning around, I heard the jingle of someone's dog tags. "Hello Katherina," said a familiar voice. Oh great, I thought. Her.
Her. That b****. "It's Kat," I said cooly. "Katherina. Listen up-" "Kat," I said more firmly. She dropped a manila folder in front of me. I looked up to see her. Her Latina brown skin. Dark hair and dark brown eyes. Her hair pulled into a pony tail and she was wearing a dark jacket over a v-neck shirt and regular dark pants. I hated her. With a passion. "What's this?" I said pointing at the folder. "Your file, Kat. Open it." "You might need to take these hand cuffs off... Alexandria," I said cooly. "Agent Garcia." "Alex," I said setting poison to every word, "takes these off please." She sighed and take them off. Once they were off I rubbed my wrists. She walked to the other side of the table and took a seat. "Jesus go a little easy on those things will you?" "Kat we need to talk." "About?" I said opening the folder seeing the blood sample results first. "ABNORMAL," was written at the top. I ignored it, I didn't need reminding. I turned the page and saw my information of where I live, where I was from, etc. I turned that page too. And turned the next and turned the next until I saw it. The page I'd been dying to see for a long time. "I need to talk to you about being a muta- about your condition," she corrected herself. I laughed silently. "Condition?" I was still staring at the page. The page that showed every little detail, power, and secret I hadn't known about my... condition, you might call it. About me being a... mutant.
You read right. A mutant. I am a telepath. I don't really use my powers much because I've seen mutants go insane and overcome by the possibilities of mutants taking over. They want power. Most people say they don't want it but admit it. We all want it. Somewhere deep down we all want power. Control. "Kat?" I snapped back. I dazed off a lot. "What?" Lee Ann looked very hesitant. That was her name. Lee Ann. Well that's what people called her. Her real name was Catherine-Lee Anna Garcia. What a handful. "We are assigning you to Shane." I glared at her,"What!" "Kat you guys are a good team." "No. There's no way in hell I'm working with him again!" Now let's freeze this picture for sometime. You might be asking, "What's the problem? Why doesn't Kat want to work with this Shane guy? Who is he? Is he cute?" Well yes he is indeed, to girls who were asking that. Or possible guys. But looks can definitely blind us. Let's rewind two months back to where I met him. The famous "Shane." The one person I thought I could actually trust, betray me completely. And I MEAN completely.
It was rainy Wednesday morning.... Nah just kidding it was just a typical New York cold day. The week before spring break. I was in theater class when he came in. "Okay class we are going to be working on a play for the last quarter of the school year. I am going to assign you in pairs to work on a scene of your choice from Romeo and Juliet and make your own twist to it." Many groaned. The teacher, Mrs. Hill, put her hands up, "I know class, it's very common for schools to do this play but I want ours to be the best! So each of you will be in pairs, I want this project due sometime of the week after spring break. Now for your pairs...." She started putting everyone in pairs, of course, I was the last one. She looked astonished. "Oh no, I thought I had even numbers... Oh wait we are getting a new student today so you can be paired with him," she smiled at me then closed her binder. The new kid. Great. "Class! Everyone get a book and a script. You can write in the script not the book!" As I was walking back with the two things, I heard the gym door opened. We saw our principal walk in with the new guy. I read the minds of the girls. All of them were jealous I was paired with him. I had to admit he was pretty handsome. Tall, fit, shaggy dark hair that covered his ears just a bit. He had bangs that swept to the side. He was indeed, good looking. He was wearing a classic red plaid button up shirt, with the sleeves rolled. Dark jeans and red converse. What the weird thing was that I was wearing a blue plaid button up shirt, sleeves rolled, dark skinny jeans and blue converse. Lucky me. We match. He scanned the class with his eyes and once they fell on me they stayed there. I was trying hard not to look away but what intrigued me the most about him is that... I couldn't read his mind.
