    Lucy's POV

Ivy and I were driven home by my mother. She loved Ivy and she knew how alike we were. Normally, she would talk nonstop and make stupid jokes that weren't even funny to me. But at that moment, she was trembling, stuttering when she talked to us, and didn't make any eye contact.
After a while of silence I asked, "Mom, are you okay? You've been acting... different."
"W-W-Why I'm fine," she replied as she gripped the wheel harder, her knuckles turning white.
"Mom, give some it some slack." I pointed at the hands.
    "Oh!" She loosened her grip.
"And, it's not like we are going to turn all wacko on you. So, relax," Ivy added helpfully.
"You two are right. I should relax and enjoy this Christmas like any other."
    "Thanks, Mom," I smiled.
    "Thanks, Mrs. McCormick," Ivy said.
"Ivy, please call me Mom or Miranda," she smiled.
"Okay, Miranda," Ivy said with a smile on her face. Though it was clear it wasn't quite right for her to say.
We drove the rest of the was singing to "Sweet Home Alabama." Mom was off key, Ivy was extremely loud, and I was singing both off key and loud. When we got home we were screaming the last note.
"Miranda! Lucy! Don't scream!" my father yelled at us as he came outside. When he saw me, he ran up and squished me in a hug. Then he saw Ivy and brought her into the bed hug.
"Mr. McCormick, you are squishing me," Ivy said breathlessly.
"Oh, sorry, girls," Dad size and pulled back. He smiled at us. "How have you girls been?"
"Good, no wacko moments since the mall," I replied.
"That's good. Ivy, do your parents know that you'll be staying with us?"
"Yep, my parents suggested it," Ivy said happily.
"Good," my father smiled. "Well, let's go inside. It's freezing!"
We all walked into the house. It was neat and tidy, as usual. I smiled and looked around. My little brother, Seth, was always trying to scare me.
"BOO!" I heard and Seth jumped out from behind the couch. Ivy screamed while I didn't flinch.
"Another fail for me, Seth," I told him smiling.
    "Aww..." Seth frowned.
"Seth! You scared the life out of me!" Ivy exclaimed. Seth and I just laughed.
"Welcome home, sis," Seth said after he had stopped laughing.
"Thanks, little bro," I ruffled his brown hair. "Ivy, let's go to my room."
"'Kay," she replied glaring at Seth. She picked up her suitcase and followed me to my room. We walked through the hall and I opened my door. I was almost empty, except for my bed, some clothes, my desk, and chair.
    "Looks empty," Ivy pointed out.
"Really?" I asked sarcastically. I walked in and put my suitcase on my bed. Ivy sat her's on the desk. We started unpacking everything. As I was putting up my suitcase, I heard a knocking on my door.
    "Come in," I replied.
"Lucy, hun. You have a visitor," my mother said as she stuck her head into my room.
    "A visitor?" Ivy asked confused.
I shrugged and followed my mom to the living room. There was a guy about 16, which is about my age, sitting on the couch talking to my father.
"I really have missed her. She was always a good friend," I heard. I knew thy voice.
"Uh, hello, Dad," I interrupted. "Who is this?"
"Lucy? Don't you remember me?" he asked and turned around. I covered my mouth in shock. It was...

    Josh's POV

I was the one who suggested we go to the mall. I thought I was a good idea at first. I was going to get Cara's Christmas present, a guitar. It was custom made, with the inscription For Cara, to the girl of my dreams. I love you lots, Josh.
We drove in silence all the way to the mall. When we got there, I was eager to get to the music store.
"You two go ahead. I have to get something. I'll meet you girls later," I said.
"You sure, Josh?" Cara asked. "We can wait for you."
    "Go."
"Alright, meet us at the food court when you're done." Cara blew a kiss at me and ran with Raychel into the mall. I reached into the glovebox and got my receipt to the guitar. Then I walked in the mall and headed to the music store.
After a while of walking past shops, people, advertisers, and screaming little kids I finally got to the music store.
I saw my old pal Ryan as I walked in.
"Ryan!" I exclaimed as I got to the counter.
"Josh? Is that you?" Ryan asked in disbelief. "Dude, I thought you were going to jail!"
"Nah, man. I went to that treatment centre for teens," I replied with a smile. "So, here's my receipt." I handed him the receipt.
"Oh, dude, that guitar is yours?!"
"Nah, it's for my girl, Cara."
"I'll get it then." Ryan walked into the back. I started walking around the place and examining the instruments. After about five minutes Ryan came back with the case.
I walked back to the counter and opened it. It was made out of all the best materials. It had a cherry finish, and good tune, as I had heard. I picked up the guitar, trying to figure out exactly how to use it.
"Lemme show ya," Ryan said and took the guitar from me. He tuned it and started playing a few cords. It had a soft sound that fit Cara.
"Perfect," I smiled and took the guitar back and placed it in it's case.
"Make sure it's taken care of," he replied with wave.
"Thanks, man. See ya again." I left with a wave. I headed back to the car and placed the guitar in the trunk. Then I headed back inside and to the food court. When I got there, I saw a huge circle of people. I pushed through and saw my worst nightmare. Cara was being held back by Raychel while some other girl was being held back by Nat.

    Nat's POV

I was holding Amanda back from trying to kill Cara. But let's start at what started this.
Amanda, her gang, and I went to the mall. I just followed then not paying any attention to anything. They walked through every shop, exclaiming "I would die for this" or "That would look so good on me" or "This is perfect for you, girl!" It was quite annoying.
Then we went to the food court. Amanda and I went to get the food. Amanda shoved herself in front of a girl with black hair like Cara's.
"Hey! What's your problem?!" I heard. I turned around and saw Cara.
    "Cara?!" I exclaimed.
"Cara Mulvara?!" Amanda exclaimed an turned around. A scowl appeared on her face.
"Nat! Amanda Culmand!" Cara exclaimed and scowled at Amanda.
"Wait, you two know each other?!" I asked really confused.
"Amanda is the girl who destroyed me," Cara said through clenched teeth.
"Please! All I did was take your boyfriend and gave your brother the idea to-" Amanda started.
"SHUT UP!" Cara yelled. I never saw her this mad ever. Everyone stared at us.
"Cara? Is everything alright?" Raychel walked up and saw us. "Hey, Nat. Oh, Amanda. Is she giving you trouble, Cara?"
"Yes." Suddenly Cara lunged at Amanda. Raychel grabbed Cara and held her back. Amanda was about to ram at Cara before I held her back.
"You evil, stupid, little-" Cara started.
"Cara! Raychel! Nat! What is going on?!" Josh ran through the crowd and ran to Cara.
"Josh!" Cara smiled and hugged him.
Amanda laughed. "This is your new guy? Some delinquent, like you? Yeah, I heard."
"Shut up," Josh said with a snarl. "Let's go Cara. We should get out of here." He glared at Amanda and walked away with Cara and Raychel.
"Can you believe her? A stupid little-" Amanda started.
"Oh, shut up, Amanda. Don't you listen! She is my friend, and she is more popular than you will ever be!" I yelled at her. She just blinked at me. I walked away with my phone in hand. I stood outside with my phone up to my ear.
    "Hello?" I heard.
"Kyle, I just screamed at Amanda. Can you come pick me up?" I replied with my eyes closed. I was not coming out of that house until after New Year's.

    Lucy's POV

I was looking at Drake. The guy I hated since I was ten. Why, I couldn't remember. All I knew was that it was good to see an old and familiar face.
    "Drake?!" I asked very surprised.
"Hello, Lucy," he replied with a smile and stood up. I smiled back and hugged him.
"I thought you hated me," he whispered in my ear.
"I'm just glad to see a familiar face," I whispered back. I pulled back. He had gotten handsomer since I last saw him. His brown hair was cut short, his blue eyes sparkled, and his smile was gorgeous! He had also gotten taller where I had to look up at him and he had gotten muscular.
"How have you been?" I asked smiling.
"Good, though it's been kinda lonely without you yelling at me," he smirked. "How about you?"
    "Okay, but better now."
"Lucy, take it to your room," my father said sternly.
"Fine!" I replied. I took Drake by the hand and pulled him to my room.
"Hey, Lucy, what was..." Ivy stopped staring at Drake. "Uh, who is that?"
    "Ivy, Drake. Drake, Ivy."
She smiled at me. "I'll just leave you too alone."
    "No, Ivy, it's fine."
"No, no. I insist," she said. Then she mouthed, "Good job." Then she gave me a thumbs up and left.
I scowled and turned toward Drake. "Sorry about Ivy. She's..." I said.
    "Yeah," Drake said and understood.
I smiled and sat on my bed. "So, what have you been up to?"
"Just the same as usual, except teasing you and you yelling at me," Drake smirked and sat down next to me.
    "Oh, ha ha."
"Shut up," he smiled at me.
    "Make me," I challenged.
"Alright," he said and pinned me down on my bed.
I struggled to get out from under him. "Let me go!"
"Nope," he smiled. I saw a glint in his eye.
"What are you planning?" I asked.
"Just kiss her already!" I heard from behind the door.
"Ivy, shut up!" we both yelled at her. He smiled at me and I felt butterflies in my stomach. He leaned in and I heard the door open. But that didn't matter. What mattered was that he was about to kiss me.

Cliffhanger my loves. I just had to.

  12. Raychel's POV

We drove back to the teen treatment centre in silence. Everyone was still tense about Cara's almost-fight. Josh just looked straight ahead. Cara was on her phone playing games. And I was watching the scenery pass by.
When we got back we went through the normal procedure. Then Cara and Josh went to the dorms and I went to the lounge. I watched tv thinking about what would have happened if I wasn't there to keep Cara's from fighting. Probably she would have tried to kill that Amanda chick. That wouldn't have been pretty.
I was watching the History Channel when Dominique came over to me.
"Raychel, what happened while you three were gone?" she asked me.
"Don't be a therapist. I am not telling you," I retorted.
"Well, Cara was crying in her dorm with Josh. I was wondering what you knew about that."
"I have no idea why she was crying. All I know is that we went to the movies, then went to the mall where Cara had a little scream-fest with an old enemy of hers. That is it." I started paying more attention to what was on tv.
"Well, alright..." Dow said and left me alone.
I continued watching tv with two questions in my mind: Could that fight have went deadly, and what hasn't Cara told them?
