RIP woman who died running the marathon

  1. I watched the news today and there was a story about a 30 year old woman who died running the London Marathon.

When less then a mile away from the finish line the young competitor collapsed and died later in hospital.

What makes this story even more heatfelt is that the woman was running to raise money for the Samariton charity, she had previously climbed Mount Kilomanjaro, ran the marathon and done lots more to raise money for the charity.

Since the world found out about her death, thousands of people have donated money to the charity in memory of the 30 year old, and half a million pounds has been given so far, and people are still giving!

This story just shows how our world really does care for it's people, and how really, deep down, we do all feel connected - past all the fighting, wars and riots we will all come together to commemerate something or someone...

...It's just a shame that there has to be a terrible happening to bring us all together.

This woman was trying to bring peace to people who weren't as fortunate, and worked hard to unite people - and I think everyone should do something - not a big something... Just something.

So to remember the young woman who, in some ways, died for peace and happiness in everyone, I am going to do at least one good thing every day for as long as possible, and I'll think of her while I do it.

If you don't want to do this - then don't - but at least spread the word of what she did, at least remember her.

I honestly hope that she rests in peace - cos after all she's done, she deserves to. 

And sorry if you think i just wasted your time - but hey you clicked on the discussion!

  2. I heard this on the news today as well. Very sad but shows u what some ppl do for others.

  3. It's sad that she had to lose her life for all this money for her charity bad things happen to the best people

  4. I'm crying

  5. RIP

She was a truely beautiful person. And yeah, it is sad that a person had to die in order for all that money to be donated.

  6. Millions of people die a year. Where's your tribune for THEM?

  7. *Tribute

  8. How is one woman's death more important than other people 

  9. So what? She died and she was doing for a charity.. Other people died and did that but do they get noticed? No. They dont. And here you are talking about a 30 Y'o who died.. Boo hoo 

  10. I think that it's sad when anyone dies obviously not just this lady but the fact that she was doing it for charity and lost her life for it is really sad

  11. "God only takes the best" A very true statement

Just makes me wonder why some lowlifes are around and this lady gave so much for a cause Rip 

  12. Ok it is very sad that she died and she did a lot for charity.
However, she did not mean to die for the charity so it's a unwilling sacrafice just like Emily Davison.

  13. I wouldn't necessarily call it a sacrifice...

It's sad that it happened but most times if it's a tragedy or a murder then it doesn't get noticed. Get over it.

  14. Well yer good point it just that so many people before have said it but good points

  15. I don't think the samaritans aim to bring about peace.

  16. You should say RIP to all those brave soldiers who fought for their country... Not some lady

  17. I'm going to run a 10k marathon next month that's so sad
