  1. Autumn~
Mom never knew she would have two of us, just the one. But Mother, ever the joker, decided to call us Autumn and Summer.
    Our last names Winter.
This is basically the story of us. The identical twins who were completely different, but always the same.
    Confusing, huh?

"I bloody hate kids!" My tiny head was just appearing to my new world, unfortunately in a horrible white jail of death and life they like to call a hospital.
"Just breathe, Martha. Breathe!" My Dad was holding Mom's hand, or rather Mom was holding his, his knuckles turning a shade of bone white as she gripped his poor fingers tightly. He winced in pain and wiggled his fingers to try and free them.
    Ha!
"How the fuck can I breathe when a fucking baby is coming out of me!"
Mom screamed loudly and held Dad's battered hand tighter. I really don't know how the hell she could, but she did, unfortunately for Dad! I started to wail, my first noise in this brand new land of the living, a whole new experience from a nice warm womb to sleep in, and be safe from the horrors of the outside world.
"You have a gorgeous, healthy baby girl!" The nurse wrapped my frail pink body in a blanket, after my Dad, in tears, had cut the umbilical cord. My early baby pictures look so strange, a little green thing sticking out where my belly button now sits.
"Look Steve, isn't she beautiful!" Mom smiled happily, and, as if on cue, I opened my big chestnut eyes and looked up at her, seeing my mothers tearful grin as she held me softly.
    Then I cried.
    "Martha, your holding her to tightly!" Dad shouted, taking me from Mom's arms to safely put me in my plastic cot, which wasn't really mine. Mom gripped Dad's hand again, breathing fast and heavy, screaming;
    "There another one!"
I watched in horror, my eyes wide open as another head crowned, and as the rest of her little blue body popped out into the cold air hospital air.
"It's not crying, Steve!" Mom looked up at Dad, tears streaming down her face. Dad kissed her softly and smoothed her blonde hair from her face.
    "It will, Martha, it will."
Just as Dad finished the sentence, bang! Another wail filled the air, joining mine as we both summed up our new surroundings.
"Mr and Mrs Winter, you have identical twins! What are you going to call them?"
    Mom and Dad knowingly smiled at each other, eyes sparkling, and in unison, said proudly;
    "Autumn and Summer."

  3. Summer~
Ah, the first day at school. Not the best time of my life but still a important milestone. Me and Autumn were taking it in turns so Mom could do our hair, the dirty bronze color that we shared tied into pigtails.
"Aww girls you look gorgeous! Right, picture time!" Mom squealed happily, grabbing the camera. Me and Autumn held hands tightly and grinned our cheesiest grin we could conjure up.
"You look fantastic!" Mom started flapping her hands in front of her face, trying to blow the tears away.
    It didn't work.
"Steve, look at our daughters! Aren't they beautiful!" Mom hiccuped. As soon as Dad dragged himself out of bed and plodded down the stairs Mom ran up into the bathroom, slamming and licking the door.
"Daddy, is Mommy going to be okay?" I whispered, still gripping Autumns tiny hand. He cupped our faces together and gave us a big kiss on the cheek, saying,
"She's just proud, very very proud!"
Autumn twirled her hair in her fingers, and I started swaying.
"Look at you two, my gorgeous little girls!" Dad smiled and we both giggled happily, looking straight into each others sea green eyes. Mom wandered out of the bathroom and smiled tearfully at us as she slowly walked down the stairs.
"Right girls, egg sandwiches for breakfast?"
I nodded enthusiastically whilst Autumn clapped her hands, shouting yes over and over again.
I think you can tell it was our favourite breakfast.
Mom whipped up the best fried egg sandwich in history, wrapping us in tea towels so we didn't mess up our brand new uniform.
"Autumn, I can't wait! But stick together, yeah?"
She nodded, her mouth full of tasty egg, a little dribbling down her tiny chin. I laughed at this 'hilarious sight' and so did she, firing egg everywhere, luckily missing me.
Mom and Dad laughed too, which surprised us.
"I think Mommy and Daddy are in a good mood, Summer!" Autumn smiled, nudging me lightly.
    "Yeah... So do I!"

    Autumn~
Dad told us to jump in the car, he was going to drop us off. He had changed into a new suit and put his leather briefcase in the car, hands ready and waiting on the wheel as Mom buckled us in tightly and planted gentle kisses on our cheeks.
    "Backpacks?"
    "Check!" We replied in unison.
    "Pencil case?"
    "Check!"
    "Lunch?"
    "Check!"
    "Grins?" We plastered on huge smiles, and then burst out laughing, just managing to gasp a feeble;
    "Check!"
Dad chuckled as he pulled out the driveway, Mom waving happily as she saw us off.
"Yay! School!" We shouted, hands in the air, giggling happily. When we finally pulled up Dad got us together and gave us both a tender kiss on the forehead.
"Right girls, have a good day! I love you." He smiled and waved at us as he climbed back into the car.
"Love you Daddy!" I shouted, blowing him a kiss, smiling.
"C'mon Autumn, we better go." Summer said, grasping my hand. I nodded excitedly and walked through the gates into Sunset Valley Elememtary.
    God, I loved that day.

  9. Summer~
God... It was what? Grade Six when me and Autumn got a boyfriend.
    I remember it well.

"Summer, Brad's staring at you!" Autumn whispered, quite slyly. I carefully glanced at where Brad was standing, and he was definitely checking me out.
    Me!
"He is as well! Does my hair look okay?" I fumbled with my hair, trying to make myself look half decent until...
"Hey Summer." His voice echoed in my ear as I swallowed to newly formed lump in my throat. I looked at Autumn, seeking advice and inspiration, and she read my mind, replying with a flirty wink. I nodded at her then turned to Brad, biting my bottom lip, and slowly whispered,
"Hey Brad." He looked at me and smiled, his cheeks going a rosy shade of pink. Brad found a lot of interest in the floor, and I took that as a clue that he was damn well speechless. I blushed at this thought and looked back at Autumn, who grinned and gave me a thumbs up, happily. I smiled and looked at Brad once again, his eyes still glued to the dusty cafeteria floor.
"Well?" I said, tapping my foot impatiently. I heard guys think it's kinda cute when they see girls flustered and angry.
It worked, because Brad looked up and smiled, before planting a tender kiss on my lips. I blushed uncontrollably and hugged him.
"So, you want to be my girlfriend?" I giggled into his shoulder, nodding. Autumn pulled me away from him and squeezed me incredibly tightly.
"Can't... Breathe!" I gasped, before she reluctantly let me go, grinning. She gently punched me in the shoulder, and pushed me back to him, just after quietly whispering,
"What would you do without me, huh?" Before I fell back into Brad's arms, I turned around and shouted to her,
    "Nothing!"

    Autumn~
It had been a week since Summer had got with Brad, and bless her little soul, she was desperately trying to get me to find a date.
"C'mon Autumn! Okay... How about Nathan?" I blushed madly and shook my head frantically.
"No way!" Summer pulled on her blazer and pushed me lightly, smiling her evil smile.
    "Yeah... Right!" She giggled and chucked me my bag, running out of the room, happily singing;
"Autumn and Nathan, sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g!"
I quickly ran after her and clamped a hand over her mouth, telling her to shut up.
    She licked me.
"Ew!" I screamed, wiping the wetness over her face, laughing maniacally. Summer ran out to the car, jumping in before imitating 'Me and Nathan' with her hands.
"Ooh Nathan your so sexy, mwah mwah!"
I rolled my eyes and punched her, before buckling my seatbelt and waiting for Dad to jump in the car.
"Love you Mom!" Summer shouted, waving out the window. I laughed quietly and watched the trees and cars roll past as we drove to school.
Guess who was at the gates.
"Autumn, hey!" Nathan said, a bit apprehensively. I blushed and replied hi, looking at Summer.
"I was wondering, if, er, you wanted to get together sometime?" He was looking dead in my eyes, and I blushed more, realising he was indirectly asking me to be his girl. Without thinking, I took his hand and kissed his cheek, watching him change a pretty shade of scarlet.
"Sure." I smiled, my hand still in his. Summer winked at me, walking towards Brad, and whispered in my ear,
"Now, what did I tell ya?"
I shook my head, giggling, as she ran towards him, leaving me and Nathan behind.
"That we would be sitting in a tree."
    She laughed at that.

  10. Summer~
We were 11, and things were getting so out of hand, so violent...

    *Flashback to the week before*
"You mother fucking son of a bitch!" Mom held her hand to her face, a stinging red mark planted across it.
"You do what I say, Martha!" Dad shouted, grabbing hold of Moms shirt and getting right into her face, so there noses touched.
"Au-Autumn!" I whispered, holding her hand tightly. Tears were running down my face as I watched the next scene.
"I will never do as you say, Steve." Mom growled, kicking my Dad in the stomach. I swear, to this day, Dads face went scarlet red, straight after Mom had said that comment. He punched her hard in the face, you could hear her nose cracking, see the trickle of the blood running down past her lips. Autumn screamed and ran to my Dad, hitting him, punching him, biting him, kicking him.
"I hate you Dad! No, your not my Dad! I hate you!"
Dad chuckled and slapped her aside, then kicked her in the stomach. My blood was boiling, I looked around to see the destruction of our house, the vase shattered over the floor, blood pooling by Autumn.
    Blood pooling by Autumn?
I ran to my Dad and punched him as hard as I could in the stomach, when he least expected it. As I gave him no time to tense, he doubled over in pain as I ran to Autumn.
"Sissy?" I whispered, shaking her lightly. She didn't respond. I screamed and grabbed the phone, hands shaking so much I was afraid I wouldn't be able to dial 911. Tears clouded up my vision, sobs choked up my speech as I spoke to the officers and paramedics.
"8 Cherry Tree Lane. Yes, I know. 11. My Mom and my sister."
I pressed to hang up, the dial tone echoing in my ear.
"I'm gonna get you out of this, Autumn, your gonna be okay."

    Autumn~
I woke up in a hospital, the severe stench of antiseptic attacking my nostrils. The taste of blood was still in my mouth, a bitter coppery taste. I looked down at my body, covered in sticky electrons, monitoring my heart beat. My body was bandaged up from the hollow of my neck, to my pelvis. I prodded it softly, and winced at the excruciating pain that followed. I tried to read the notes that lay beside me, my vision cloudy. I managed to make out a few words.
    Internal bleeding.
    Broken rib.
    Punctured lung.
I started to cry silently, the tears running down my face as I looked around helplessly. I tried to shake my head of the horrors of the incident, but nothing was working.
    Nothing.
"Sissy..." I gasped, oxygen running away from me. A sleeping figure sat next to my bed, slumping across the arm of the chair.
"Sissy?" I choked, a little louder. The figure sat up quickly and her hand shot out to encase mine.
"Autumn, it's Summer, I'm here." She lay her head on my chest as she brought the chair closer. I smiled and stroked her hair, humming softly. She smiled at the tune, and started to sing quietly, her voice a mixture if milk and honey.
"Sunshine, you are my sunshine, you make me happy, when skies are gray. You'll never know, dear, how much I love you, so please don't take my sunshine away...
