I wake up with a start and tumble out of bed. After checking the clock I nearly sprint into the bathroom with my clothes in hand and hop into the shower. I speedily wash my toned body and jet black hair. After brushing my teeth, deodorizing, and styling my hair so that the bangs spike up, I'm ready for my day. I fly down the side of the road on my mountain bike, desperately trying not to be late for class. I make it with little time to spare as I tumble into my desk in my first class. Next to me is the cutest girl I know. She's intelligent, athletic, and funny. She's the whole package, and she's all mine. We share 3 out of 6 classes together, walking together to common classes and kiss in the halls when we separate. I always escort her to her class. It's the honorable thing to do. At lunch we even sit at the same table together, share the same friends, and laugh at the same jokes. And at the end of the day, I give her a ride home. But not today. My car was in the shop today having its breaks fixed. Today, after recovering from my not-so-smooth crash into my seat, my eyes were caught on my girlfriend conversing with someone else. And his arm was around her shoulders. Of course, being the level headed person I am I didn't confront them. But in the hall after class I did. "So who was that?" I asked her. "Oh, just a friend." She replied with a genuine smile. "You don't have to be jealous." She winked and pulled me towards our next class. It wasn't until 4th hour, the first hour we didn't share, that an alarm would be set off in my head again. After I dropped her off at her class I returned to tell her I wouldn't be able to give her a ride, when I saw the boy give her a hug, and she returned it. We went the rest of the day without talking, because I left school early. Before going back to my house, though, I went and picked up my car. The brakes still didn't work properly, but I refused to ride my bike to school again. I hid in my room all night planning how to win my girlfriend's heart once and for all. I eventually settled on a plan and laid my head down to sleep. I'd need the time in the morning. I woke early in the morning and completed the normal preparations with time to spare. Afterwards, I sat down with colored pencils, pink construction paper, and a heart stencil. I made the best "Love You" card I could within my artistic abilities. I also cut some flowers out of my mother's garden and put them in a vase. I got in my car and drove to school where I presented the gifts to the love of my life. "You know I'd never love anyone else!" She announced in a mock exasperated tone, trying to hide her joy. I never saw her with the boy once that day. She got in my car in the school parking lot at the end of the day and sighed. "What a long day!" She exclaimed, kissing my cheek. "I feel ya. You know how early I had to wake up to make that card?" I asked sarcastically, grinning from ear to ear. I pulled out of the Parking lot and headed to her house. We were one block away from her home when my brakes failed, and we crashed into another car. The crash was breathtaking. Our car skittered across the road where a red van collided into our right side. "Ally?! Ally!" I shouted into her ear. She wasn't conscious. I dialed 911 on my phone, paying no attention to the passengers of the car who we smashed into. Once we were in the hospital, I called my parents. They arrived shortly after, and we were all forced into the waiting room while my Love was evaluated and tended to. We stayed late into the night waiting for good news from the OR. Eventually we were informed that she was alive and would make a full recovery. "Family only." The doctor said sternly as I tried to pass him. "It's okay. That girl in there is my sister." I replied, as I pushed past him.
