When I woke up the next morning I went downstairs for breakfast, as usual. I sighed when I saw Maria already sitting at the table. She looked up excitedly but when she noticed that it was me and frowned. "Oh it's you," she said. "Yeah it's me," I said right back. I headed back for the stairs. "Wait! Come sit down," she said and she got herself a bowl of plain cheerios. "I want to talk to you," she said. "It's important." "What is so important?" I asked sitting down. "I want to wish you best of luck." "Best of luck?" "Yeah. With Adam, I mean. He's just playing around with you. I'm not trying to be harsh, but it seems as though he has no real feelings for you," she said and she smiled. "I know." She went pale. I could tell she wasn't expecting this response. "He didn't marry me because he loved me. He married me to protect my sister and I. That's all... I'd rather not be here..." "Why not?" My head shot around to see Adam. "Because I don't like it here with you and her," I said coolly looking back at her once more before leaving the kitchen. "Just what the hell did you say to het?!" I heard Adam say angrily. "Nothing. Sit down and eat with me, my darling!" I ignored them and headed upstairs. School was in an hour... Later... I sat by myself as usual for lunch. When I was finished I went inside the school. I wandered the halls looking for something to do, a club perhaps? I peeked through the windows but saw nothing that intrigued me enough to join. As I turned the corner I ran into a familiar face. "Arianna..?" "Alex," I said softly. "Why are you inside the school? Are you in a club?" "No. I was bored so I thought I'd take a walk... Inside the school..." I muttered. "It's not uncommon..." "Haha, I know. I was teasing you," he said smiling at my confused face. "So, what have you been up to, lately?" he asked. "Not much... I-I..." I paused. I had almost told him of my marriage but I refrained myself. "I've just been focusing on my academics..." I finally said. I looked away. "Ah. Same." I smiled. I felt a rush of panic come over me. I needed to tell him... I needed to tell him about the baby! I needed to... But... It was so hard to say it... "Is something wrong? You seemed upset last time we spoke..." "No. It's nothing," I said. "Are you sure? You look a bit pale," he said raising a hand towards my forehead. Suddenly, before he touched me, a firm grasp wrapped around his wrist and pushed him away. I turned to see Adam. Why was he here?! Again?! Could he not leave me alone for a bit?! "What are you doing to this student?!" he demanded. He glared at Alex. "Ad... Mr.Klein! Stop it! He wasn't doing anything wrong!" I shouted, rather annoyed. He released Alex's wrist and looked at me. "Ari..." "God damn it! Leave me alone!" I shouted at him and I walked away quickly. Did he really have to spy on me...? He was so annoying and... over protective...
