I tip very well when service demands it. my typical tip is 18-20%. there have been times I tipped nothing (it was well deserved I promise)....I've tipped $1 on a $30 bill, and there are times I've tipped 50% or more. I can recall two situations in specific which bring me great delight. 1. after a quick appetizer and beer for myself and a friend we were heading back out for Xmas shopping (early December). the bill was no more than $20 and the service was spectacular!!! I asked the waiter what "he thought his tip should be?". fully prepared to pay whatever he may say. he was befuddled by the question but eventually I got him to just blurt out $50. wasn't he shocked when he got a $100 bill and I said to keep the change. he even checked twice to be sure I wasn't fooling around. I just said "Merry Christmas" and we headed out. the entire staff gave us thanks as we walked out. including chefs and the manager, the latter whom I pulled aside to tell just how incredible the service was. 2. much simpler visit at a different establishment....friends and I spent 4.5 hours eating sushi, drinking beer and saki, and sipping soups w our chef friend at the best sushi bar in town. approx $480 bill for the three of us when we left. (yes we had a blast). we had so much fun we left $250 for a tip. how's that for mashed potatoes? treat me well, you get treated well. treat me like and you get what you give. this by no means presumes that you were treating your patrons poorly. some ppl are born with for brains. cheers!!
If people are really bad waiters they don't get good tips if it's our family eating lol. Sounds crappy though. POTATOES
I've never gotten a complaint for my service. In fact, I've gotten several compliments and talks with the manager about my service. But people like that come in a lot and it's unfortunate when they treat you like poo. You know they're going to leave a tip when you say thank you and your customers say "youre welcome" back to you. That's when you know....
Basically mine goes along with what the-bob said we've tipped zero before, but it was well deserved.
I'm 17, and I don't ever go out cuz I only get money as gifts, and at a restaurant with my brother and a friend we had a pretty waitress and she was super nice and quick with food (I'm impatient) and even when I was being a dumbass and spilt my soda she still picked it up with a smile! I gave her all the money I got for my birthday (250$) and she gave me her number Heeeheee It's funny to see guys hit on waitresses but when a waitress hits on you… it's another thing
That's messed up 2 cents. What's those peoples problem? You should have yelled at them as they went through. Oh btw..... POTATOES
