  1. ~Hi guys, I read the talent in the forum and I decided to post my own. This is an excerpt from my story that I have published on a website ~

"pass that bottle over here!" she yelled across the table. I watched as Cherri grabbed the bottle and slid it across the table to Marni.

"Gracias chica." She gave a toothy smile and with a swift motion, she bent her head back and the four of us watched as the dark liquor disappeared from the inside of the bottle to her throat where the muscles were working to take down the alcohol. We were sitting in Marni's basement around a small table in some old wooden chairs. She had boxes and boxes of old things that were from the previous family that lived here before her.

"Aye Felicity take, take a swig." she said her speech tainted by the alcohol. She waved the bottle in my face and I playfully pushed it back.

"You know I can't. Jake would be upset."

Marni scoffed as the rest of the group sucked their teeth. "That boy doesn't let you do anything Felicity!" Cherri exclaimed.

"He has you on a tight leash!" That was Marni. She acted out the collar around her neck and started to pull an imaginary short lease. The girls giggled. Amber and Kelsi nodded their heads in agreement. I only sighed and shook my head in disbelief. They just didn't know that he was only looking out for me. That he made sure that I was able to keep a clear head. It didn't mean I didn't want to sneak a couple of sips though.

"Come on Felicity, drink it," and once more, the bottle was shoved back into my face. I watched the liquid swish around inside the bottle tempting me in all kinds of ways.

  2. "But you guys know Jake will be here any minute to come get me..." I allowed my voice to trail off and continued to watch the bottle. It was enticing me. I swear I could hear it talking to me or maybe it could be Marni's voice.
    "Drink, Drink, Drink..."
I grabbed the bottle and placed my lips onto the top and threw my head back to chug it down as much as I could in a minute. I could
Hear the girls chanting my name and telling me to keep going. The alcohol burned my Throat, but it was a sweet familiar burn that felt right to me. I could dowse two bottles in a hour if I allowed myself too, Jake sometimes forced me to when we went to parties. He'd say I'm being more
Manageable when I'm drunk off the wall, but any other time I'm not supposed to.
Then all of a sudden the chanting stopped and quick uneasy silence followed. I looked from the sides of the bottle to the girls and their heads were faced towards the door and went completely ash white.
He was here. That was the only explanation. Marni's parents were out of town leaving her the house and her brother was at their grandmother's house.
I slowly let down the bottle and turned in my chair. Jake was standing between the basement doorway that was directly a few feet in front of me. He had his hands balled up into fists, his knuckles threatening to break the skin.
I felt like a dear caught In headlights.

  3. His eyes were lit with anger and the muscles in his jaw tensed. He slowly raised his hand and it came down hard across
My cheek turning me halfway back around. That burning sensation was also familiar to me. I kept my hand on my cheek and I forced myself not to cry; it would only make things much worse for me.
I slowly raised back up avoiding any eye contact. "Hey baby." I said with no emotion what so ever. "I couldn't muster any up except the physical pain I was feeling at the moment.
"What the hell are you doing?" I could feel the furry seep from the pores of his skin and swirl around the room in attempt to suffocate me.
"Just hanging with the girls." I replied eventually meeting his deadly gaze. Our eyes stayed locked on each other's without blinking.
    "Don't get smart."
Utter silence followed. I could feel the fear within the girls and myself and it was apparently not a good mixture with anger. I could almost taste it.
    "I'm-,"
"Let's go." he turned on his heel and left back through the door. When he left, I realized all of us were holding out breath in anticipation and fear of what he was going to do. I wasn't completely surprised that he didn't attack me, but I knew better.
He was saving it for when we were alone.
I slowly raised up and made my way to the door as the eyes of everyone were on me.
"Call me so that I can make sure you're alive." Marni said soundly strangely sober.
It wasn't meat to be a joke but the exact opposite. The girls feared for me as much as joked. We were all waiting for that day really.
I stepped into the nice cool summer air, the breeze caressing my cheek, but I was only able to enjoy its company for a few seconds.
"Felicity bring your ass to this car now!"
This will be over soon and forgotten. It was my fault. His rage is only temporary...

This is what I had to remind myself everyday.
