  1. Hunting Dawn (before they met)

This is just to make sure my readers understand what's happening in the story, answer any questions you might have, and share the dark pasts of your favorite characters.

    Elijah

    November of 1918

"Elijah are you ready for tonight, mass murder for two?" My loyal friend Lucius smirked.
I rolled my eyes, pulling my dagger from the dead body of a woman I just killed.
"Of course, I've been eager since last nights feast in hell." I muttered coldly.
"You know, for the son of Aphrodite, the goddess of love, there is not even the slightest bit of warmth in there, I admire that friend, I really do." Lucius snickered, kicking the woman into the near by lake.
I growled at him, pushing him against the tree, the dagger now into his neck.
"You ever talk about "her" again, and I'll kill you were you stand." I threatened, my eyes black.
He swallowed, but kept fear off his face.
"Y-Yes sir." He barked pushing my weapon away.
I hissed a bit, and slide it back into my pocket.
"You go on back home, I'll check the car for any others." I spit, glaring at him.
"As you wish, see yeah back at home Fang." He saluted, and with that turned and walked into the darkness.
I turned now to the horse and buggy that had wrecked down the hillside, and made my way through.
Humans really should be more careful, the pathetic wastes of space they were.
I walked to the carriage part, scanning the inside but I saw nothing.
I was about to turn away when I heard a meek cry.
Pulling out my dagger I analyzed the inside, seeing a blanket move.
I ripped the blanket aside, and froze at the little child before me.
She must have at least been five, her soft looking blonde hair was in curls around her face, and her eyes were the biggest blue I'd ever seen.
Slowly I let my weapon fall, taking a step back from her.
There was just something about this child.. That I couldn't bring myself to kill it.
I glanced at the carriage. It had a sign of royalty on the side, so someone would be sure to find her fast.
I slowly turned my back on the child, and ran into the woods were Lucius had gone.
    I couldn't kill that child..
I could already feel my insides burning as I fled.
My father, Satan, wasn't happy, he knew, he had been watching..
Punishment would come to me no doubt, but all I could think of was how weak I had felt, not being able to kill a five year old child.

 This is why Elijah wasn't allowed back home. Because he had saved a life instead of killing.
 Also the baby in the carriage is Emma's great, great, great grandma. That's why he couldn't bring himself to kill her.

 I'll update with the other character's pasts later.

 Any question? Would you like to hear more of Elijah's past, or go back farther in the past?

  11. Emmanuel

    1920

I held my bow and arrow as straight as I could, one eye closed, the other focused on my target, just a few feet away.
"Emmanuel, you don't have to be perfect," A gentle voice urged me.
I didn't have to look to know it was my mother.
"But I do mother, I was awarded the title of "The Angel Of War" I must be good at accuracy.." I concluded, and released my finger watching the arrow piece the very center of the apple sitting on the top of my friend Gabriel's head.
I beamed at my perfect shot, now looking up to my mother's concerned eyes.
"I'll be fine really," I said touching her shoulder.
She looked down at my hand, and took a breath.
I was about to say more, but a sweet melodious voice sang out to me.
"Emmanuel my love," Amelia said appearing before my eyes.
I quickly laid my bow and arrows to the side, rushing to her, embracing her thin sweet figure.
"Hello my goddess," I smiled, stealing a kiss from her.
Her face blushed a gorgeous pink, but tried to hide it with her perfect blonde curls.
I brushed them from her face, before letting my fingers trail along her cheeks, down her neck, then finally around her waist.
"What brings you this way," I smiled delighted.
Realization hit her eyes, and she backed away from me, guilt, and sadness coloring her features.
Panic hit my insides at her reaction.
"Love, was it something I did?"
"No, no of course not, it is I that has harmed you so," She spoke each word with a gently carefulness.
My mother stayed, watching between us, her expression even more worried.
"What do you mean, you have never done me wrong," I swallowed.
Amelia didn't meet my gaze, her bright golden eyes stayed to the ground.
"But I have, I've fallen in love with another man.. I'm sorry Emmanuel.." She spoke, her words cutting me like a dagger.
I fell to my knees in front of her, feeling broken, and hopeless.
She silently weeped watching me, and quickly turned and ran from sight.
My hands shakily dug into the ground as I choked out sobs.
The pain in my heart was overwhelming, I couldn't hold it back, no matter how hard I tried, I only sobbed louder.
I felt my mother at my side, holding me as if I was still a young child. I felt her body shaking as she cried with me.
We shared a bond in this way, we could always feel what the other was feeling.
It wasn't long before I felt a wave of ultimate power, and goodness hit me.
It was enough to silence both me and my mother.
I looked through my tears to a man so tall it looked like he could touch the stars. His warm brown eyes gazed down upon us with such a strong warmth even my own insides began to warm.
His bearded face shifted into a tender smile, the kind of smile that just made you feel loved, and at home.
"Emmanuel, I know you may be hurting, but believe me when I say that this is all meant to be," The voice of god spoke.
    I bowed before him.
"My lord, please tell me this pain I am feeling will go away soon," I spoke.
"It shall, after you gaze into my eyes," God said.
I did exactly that, and as our gaze locked an image came to my sight.
It was a young woman, her hair was a light Auburn, her skin the most flawless sun-kissed tan I've ever laid eyes on, and her eyes were like pools of chocolate.
I gasped at the indescribable beauty this girl held.
"S-She is beautiful," I stuttered, my heart racing now. All the pain I had felt melted away. Just as god had said.
"She is your future happiness, protect her Emmanuel, your her guardian angel now,"
That's the last thing I heard before everything went place.

 So what do you think of Emmanuel's past?

     Any questions?
