Chapter 9: I smiled at everyone all day. It was Monday, but I had a new warm blanket and a set of some used clothes. To many this would seem a small un-important thing, but it gave me a new energy I had been lacking in the last little while. In psychology class today for a project I mentioned the whole affair, and said that if everyone had something like this happen to them every week, there would be less fighting and no more war. The world could use some more smiles. I was shocked to find that I'd reduced the teacher to tears, and had gotten full marks. Claws meowed approvingly when I told him this. I was trying my very best to have little things make me happy. I had recently discovered that being happy was a nice feeling. One day I'll save enough money to buy some nice clothes and I'll walk around in society like anyone else. Some day I won't be the poor orphan that I am now. It reminds me of a song. A beautiful song with a good morel to it. I sure wish I could remember the words right now. Claws meowed and I looked out the window. "You're right Claws." I whispered as I remembered. "It was about a rainbow."
Chapter 10: The road felt like a river. Torrents of water fell from the pitch-black night. And above all.. It was freezing. Even my little coat couldn't stop the wind from piercing me with it's little daggers. But yet I trucked onwards towards my home. In movies people talk about achieving your 'destiny', which I guess officially makes you a gloating jerk. I guess this is my destiny. Walking home from Starbucks at midnight with a dollar in my pocket, alone. The solitude is peaceful, but I wish I had someone to share my troubles with. "Wishful Thinking I guess." I muttered out loud. I could hear swearing, which wasn't uncommon in this part of town. But than I heard something unusual. A scream. A small panic settled over me as I heard a car screech. And the screech didn't stop. It just got louder. There was another scream! And laughter, drunk laughter. A bit in the bottom of my stomach grew as I realized there were drunk drivers near me. Drunk people unsettled me. This pit got bigger and bigger as the noise grew in volume. Then, when I thought the pit would consume me, a wrecked sports car wheeled around the corner in front of me. My last thought before point-blank impact was of Claws.
