  1. Chapter One: Dark Endings

It's dark. And wet. And I feel myself laying against the ground. I look around myself. I was laying flat against dark concrete. I stood up. Everything around me seemed to have a bleak, grey look. Everything looked so familiar. Then it hit me. I was in the alley right behind the nightclub, the one that a few of my friends had been. I walked out, onto the sidewalk.
"Mita? Mariah? Tammy?", I called out, wondering where my friends were.
I spotted them over by an ambulance and a couple cop cars. Tammy was sobbing, leaning against Mita, while Mariah was in deep conversation with the officer.
"....and just like that, she was gone! I leaned over to check on Lacy, to make sure she was okay, and she had no pulse."
My eyebrows burrowed in confusion. I had no pulse? What did she mean? I was right here!
"Mariah! I'm right here!", I screamed in her ear.
She couldn't hear me. No one could. I sprinted to the back of the ambulance truck, peeking around some ER's. I noticed a girl laying across the cot, blood splattered across her shirt and her eyes wide open, though they saw nothing. She was dead.
    She was me.
I backed up away from the truck as the zipped the body bag. I turned on my heels non believing. I ran. Where? Anywhere I could get.

  4. Chapter Two: A Beginning

He's not staring at you , I thought.
I allowed myself to look at him. Liam. He was new here. But something about him seemed...off. His white shirt, baggy and fluffy with thin lace. His dark jeans and black boots. I glanced at him again. He resembled much to a pirate from a movie, though not as dirty. His dark curly hair fell right over his eyes, which were a startling color of blue. I felt my face heat up with blush as he noticed me looking. He threw me a crooked grin. My silent heart should be beating out of my chest.
This was my usual spot for the day. Sitting in plain view at Bay View High School. I still went to my classes everyday. I gave me something to look forward to. No one could see me. Like I wanted anyone to.
I eased my way in the back, taking the desk next to Liam. He turned and smiled. I was still in awe that he could see me. Was he a ghost too?
"You have beautiful green eyes", Liam murmured, so quiet I almost didn't hear it. I had always thought that my green eyes look unnatural with my long red hair.
"You can see me?", I whispered. I shot him a anxious glance.
    "Of Course", He said, chuckling.

  6. Chapter 3: Truth

I regretted Liam seeing me. Now that he really knew I was there, I couldn't get him to leave me alone. But at the same time, I wasn't sure if I wanted to. I'd spend the last 3 years roaming around lonely, desperate just to find conversation.
"So I have some questions for you?", I said.
"Well ask away, love", he said, using some fake British accent.
"How can you see me?", I demanded.
We were still walking away from the school, heading toward the parking lot.
"The same way you see me; with eyes, of course.", he said, chuckling.
I stalked away, dismissing him. This was useless to argue with someone this stubborn.
"Wait!", he called, jogging to catch up. A few people threw him an awkward glance. Others muttered 'why was he talking to himself'.
    "Fine. I'll tell you."
I turned to look at him. His face was less than 3 inches away. Once again I couldn't help but stare. I shook my head, clearing it.
"Well?", I said, frowning. "Go on then!"
He laughed, throwing his head back and placing his hands on his stomach, like he was dying of laughter.
I frowned again and continued to stalk away.
I'm not getting anywhere with this idiot!,I thought.
"My mother was a psychic, so am I.", he said, coming up suddenly beside me, shrugging. "So you're..."
"Dead?", I finished, wincing at the word.
    "Yeah, that."
"I was murdered. Left for dead in a alley behind a bar." I looked down.
"Murdered?", he muttered. He looked up at me, quizzically, like seeing someone you went to school with..but couldn't place their name.
"Is your name, by any chance, Lacy?", he asked, his eyes wide.
    "Yes? But why?"
He put his hand out, palm extended. I looked at it, dumbfounded. He simply smiled, and gestured to my hand and back to his. I hesitantly placed my against his, not so sure what would happen.
    But then something did happen.
Time and the world around me stopped.
