The day that I wanted it to be the perfect summer..I said goodbye to it a month ago. Thud, thud. Listen, and pass this story on. Casper and I don't have much time.
~Chapter One~ Serena's POV I walked down the streets, feeling moody. My brother, Casper, was coming to visit. Erm, he travels with my dad around the world. My dad has some sort of archaeologist job. I walked back to our house and rang the doorbell. Ring. "Coming!" my uncle's gruff voice said. He opened the door, looking pissed, as usual. "Ah, Emerald. " he said my middle name, which made me wince. "Uncle Joshua, I told you, don't call me that! My name is Serena. " The name reminded me of my mother, Ruby. Um..she's dead. Yeah, shocker. She died when I was three, in a car accident. "Gah, who cares? Just get in. Your brother is coming soon. " he grumbled. "Sereeennnaaaa!! Cccoommmeeee hhhheeerrreeeee!!!" a voice called out. "Excuse me now, Aunt Mabelle is calling. " I smiled fakely at him, and he cursed back. Some kind of manners. I walked into the dim house, and my aunt was digging through a pile of magazines. "Hello, Serena. I've been calling you for ages! I'm trying to find my old school magazine at West High. " she said in her English accent. "Okay..need any help?" I offered brightly. "Pff.." she gasped. "No..look! I've found it!" she pulled out a dusty magazine, coughed, and dusted it off. "South High 1980" it said. Huh? I thought she said West High..maybe she forgot. Not seeming to notice anything, Aunt Mabelle flipped the magazine open to the picture page. On the second line, Serena noticed a face and almost fainted. Ruby Fater, her beautiful mother.
Re: The Perfect Summer.. Her beautiful face was framed by her gold curls, which that lucky pig Casper had inherited. Her deep green eyes, which stood out brilliantly , which was mine. Her earrings brought out the color of her eyes, her dress brought out her hair. Ooh. My mama had style. Ruby Alexa Fater, class president, cheerleading captain, and volleyball captain. "I'm sorry, dearie. I may have accidentally switched in my yearbook in for this! I'll go back to the vintage shop tomorrow, mine may be still there. " She pulled the yearbook away. "Aunt Mabelle, let me have a look at it, please. " I snatched it back, there was nothing Aunt Mabelle could do about it. I flipped to he first page and gasped. In beautiful cursive handwriting, " Rubia (her full name) Alexa Fater, Year 12. " Omigod. This belonged to my mother? The memories of a beautiful princess, a top fashion model, a A-list actor and a famous pop star floated back. Britney Spears, Angelina Jolie, who? Who was my mysterious mother? All my thoughts for the perfect summer floated away. I'll be kept in on a mystery! This was amazing! Or so I thought..
Casper's POV Visiting Serena in New York isn't fun, believe me. Uncle Joshua..let's NOT talk about it. Let's just say he has some issues. Aunt Mabelle..she's okay. Dad has been grieving since Mom died. He mutters stuff like," Ruby..undefeatable power.." in his sleep. Whenever we go into a hotel room..he cautiously checks it. One time, we were in The Aunur Hotel, they were tons of gunmen, Dad shooed me away, when I came back, every gunman was lying down dead and Dad was packing up. It's weird, really. ~Chapter 1,part two~ Serena's POV Casper arrived at my door, my dad brooding as usual. When he saw me, he smiled and hugged me. "Serena. You remind me so much of your mother..." Dad started to say. Then, there was a crash.
Everything was blurry for a while. I suddenly had a flashback.. Casper and I were celebrating our second birthday. Mom was there, and suddenly the building began to wobble. Everything blurred, but when we looked again, we thought we imagined it. Everyone called us," The Sharp Minded Kids". "Dad. What's going on?" Casper asked him quietly. My best friends, Sophie and Alice call him "hot". But he wears cargo pants! And old-man clothes! "Nothing, Casper. " he said in a heavy voice. Which I didn't believe. Casper's POV This is how life is everyday..whenever something weird happens, Dad denies it. "Then..let's go to the museum. " Dad said. "THE MUSEUM? This is the only other day of the year I see you, and we go to the museum?" she gawked. "Serena, you'll like it. " Dad said calmly. He never gets mad at Serena. Serena pulled her gorgeous brown hair back in a ponytail. Then here wee goo..
???'s POV I needed to get "Serena" and "Casper" out of that life. Fake human names..Iris and Neptunë.
They gave me a sh*t lotta trouble. And now..they die. Poor kids, not realizing they ARE supernatural beings.
When we entered the museum, there was a lot of muttering from Dad. "Rubia..The Rose Stone..death...powers..mustn't let Serena and Casper know.." the last part caught Serena's ear. "Let us know what? Rubia..mum! " she said sharply. She pulled out an old-looking book, and flipped it to a page, Mom was staring at me, her beautiful curls framing her unique face. "That was Mom's yearbook. " she said quietly. "Children..I want you to never touch my briefcase, whatever you do. " He walked into the door, and he never came out. "Casper..Casper..Pst!!" Serena hissed. "WHAT?" I said, exasperated. "Dad..let's look. " She pulled me to the room, Dad was in a glowing golden coffin. "DAD?" Serena and I said in unison.
