In “ObamaCare’s Great Awakening” the author argues that the HHS is creating a totalitarian government. How he or she comes to this conclusion is by stating that through ObamaCare’s requiring a vast majority of businesses to issue out contraceptive (birth control pills) regardless of personal choices to all female staff regardless of their viewpoint or other whacky things(writer’s note: I honestly have no idea how he/she connected the dots here. My mind is way too liberal to see the logic in this.) He seems to use a series of examples in order to get his point across, essentially making everyone seem five times angrier than they actually are. What the author is obviously trying to do is group people together against the socializing of medicine. The author clearly has a thing for heavy use of examples, showing one every five lines. Now, although the argument style of example showing is nice, it doesn’t work if it’s done all the time. What the author does is try to rally up people through using examples and putting people in the seats of different people, unfortunately, not all of are big enough to occupy the last row in the McCallum’s mezzanine seating area nor do we have the sufficient amount of eyes to see that many perspectives. Essentially, the author fails (and I wish I could end it there) to make a concise argument, his point has no counter-argument, isn’t very concise, nor does really seem to be able to garner new supporters, other than those that were hard-core conservative to begin with. He/she seems to feel as if requiring a pill to be given to someone is the same as shoving said pill down their throat and pulling out their heart and showing it to them, making sure it’s the last thing they see before reaching the Pearly Gates, all in the same process. In honor of the author’s writing style, here’s an example: The Matrix; in The Matrix, Neil is given the choice to take either the blue pill or red pill, one of which will send him “farther down the rabbit hole” and make him face reality for what it really is. The author’s argument, is like that, no matter what choice the woman is given, she has to take a pill, but unlike Matrix, neither pill will make you realize you’re part of a computer program nor will it turn you into an allegory for Jesus Christ, but one pill lets you keep the baby and the other one, will just do something else, like not keep the baby. In the end, the author fails to make a decent argument against ObamaCare by putting up a counter-argument, or perhaps it was there, and I just didn’t really notice. ~End of Assignment. If you want to read the article, Google the title. It's in the 1st paragraph and the first 5 words. Opinions?
