Ripoffs I followed in Matt's footsteps and made an advice thread The irony, that my first topic will be about Ripoffs, and I'm ripping off Matt's threads But I'm sure he won't mind I had the idea for this thread a long time ago, but I left it at that. A recent thread made me want to publish this. Before I get on with this, I'll explain why I am going to write this. I was a "ripper of stories" before, where I stole other people's story ideas and published it on a particular story-writing website. I know how it feels like when someone rips off something that was originally yours, and I don't like it. There have also been recent threads where I could clearly see "rip offs" clearly written all over them. And the worse thing is, the poster of these threads get a lot of fame and attention, even though the ORIGINAL poster of the ORIGINAL thread ideas didn't come into mention at all, nor did he receive any credit. I just found this ridiculous. I won't mention any names. Let's get on with the main idea of the thread. Now what is ripping? It's a term to define, basically, "copying". Sometimes, the rippers wouldn't actually know they've ripped off of a thread, there might just be a coincidental similarity. Other times, rippers copy on purpose, just to take a gamble and see whether the ripped-off thread will give them fame among the community. If you've been paying attention, you would know I talked about this ripper I've noticed on forums recently above Well, the ripper ripped off a friend of mine, and he told me about it. He was very unhappy about all this, and even decided to quit making those threads of his. All because of one ripper. Sometimes, rippers don't realize the damage they do. Others might view it as something minor, but not me. I can't pretty much think about anything else to say, so I'll end it here. It might not be as good as Matt's, but hey, at least I tried. Repeating what I said, I won't mention any names. You are free to make assumptions and guesses. MATTY APPROVED That is a direct and blatant rip off from my sweet TYNOS-baby! But yeah. Be careful if rippers still want to continue to "rip" when they are in the business world. Many things are copyrighted and there is such a thing called "Intellectual Property". They can get sued in court. But then again, many businesses are copycats. Just as long as one doesn't do a direct rip off, but incorporate they own creative elements...
