Do you think before you act or speak? I remember, when I was much younger, I'd speak before I thought and get scolded for it. Saying things like "Mr., your mustache is funny," (mustachios are my thing ) or "Granny, her shirt is inside out," and the lady turning and glaring at me. But I was a young child then! And now, alas, I am no more. I am a slightly older child. And being such a child, I do attempt to filter my words. But it doesn't always work... Weird anecdote: Sitting in English class, we were discussing the pros and cons of high schools getting sponsored by large corporations in exchange for putting up a few posters promoting their products. The teacher asked "Of Coca-Cola were to buy two classroom sets of 'The Great Gatsby' in exchange for me placing a sign with their logo above the board, would there be anything wrong with it?" People were naming pros left and right, but I was debating a con...and I decided it would be okay to say because he wouldn't be offended. "It'd be a small logo for a LOT of money. No cons..." "Why would anyone have a problem with that? It's not illegal!" So I said "Well...if you were an important, super health conscious outsider of the school, you might see the sign and think 'Damn. What a bunch of Coke ho's.'" And then they laughed. But I couldn't come up with a better word... Or... We were sitting at the dinner table, and a few were watching tv. My sister asked what genitalia was, because some commercial promoting getting screened for STD's was on. But we answered like dominos falling, one right after the other (and in this order)... Oldest: "Your private area." Middle: "Private parts." Me: "Your crotch." Everybody froze... And then they laughed but still!!! In that case, I hadn't thought about what I said... ONWARD, HO!!!! Do you think before you speak or act? Do you try? Are you so impulsive that the thought of thinking before you act doesn't cross your mind in time--ever? Have you ever gotten into a bind by not thinking before action? Any crazy things happen when you act/speak before you think? Or have you thought before you acted and it still have odd/uncomfortable/unwanted consequences? Final anecdote (two or three have heard this before...): My grandfather was on the phone and said he wad going to fix himself some pie. And then, of course, he got off the phone and told me to fix him some pie. "But you just said you would do it... When you lie, you dissolve the element of trust! My trust toward you had been broken!" I told him. He was always talking about him not trusting me because I lie to him ALL the time... Old man don't know what he talkin bout. "GET ME SOME PIE!!!" So I went and got him a lovely large slice... I got in beside his chair... And I took the fork I had brought him and took a huge bite and then gave it to him and smiled around the pie and was like "Here's your pie!" So...times? Stories? Anecdotes? Anyone who can relate? Posters? Anyone? Anyone who posts something appropriate? And now that I think about it... You could relate that to this app, too. Do you think before you post something that could be offensive? I'm not saying don't joke around with your friends. I know some say that and I have to disagree. Yeah, you can joke without saying things that might offend them, but when they're your friends and close enough to you to know when you're joking... Anyhoot, my speech is done! Morals: - Think before you speak. -Don't eat old people's pie because it pisses them off. - Impulsive can equal fun. Or funny. Or crazy shit. Or bad things.
